Definitely a big mix of cultures on Fantasia however we have noticed that all the signage etc is either only in English or in a number of languages that always include English (eg signs in the buffet) so it is reasonably easy to know what is going on. I am on Fantasia at the moment (had same decision to make and went for the more interesting ports of call).
We will be on Fantasia in two weeks. Please post a review. We are getting excited but have found very little information on this ship.

How long does it take Ken to reply to his emails as I emailed him over 3 days ago and still no response.
Is this normal? I am concerned because my son is allergic to diary and it's important that our waiters know this.
Thanks in advance.
I emailed him twice before our cruise and he never answered and we did not get what we requested.

He is on the Breeze right now. But he is retiring in a couple of weeks. Such a big loss for Carnival. Over the years he has become a friend of ours. I wish him well and will miss him on the ships.

I was on this ship! It was our first cruise, we were disappointed. The food was only adequate, not as we expected! The room smelled like wet mold. We had no idea what was going on until they made an announcement about an hour before docking in Mobile. The captain got on the intercom, said there was a medical emergency with one of the passengers and we had to return to Mobile. He stated our options in getting off and receiving a full refund or staying on and cruising the mobile bay and receiving 50% off. We chose to get off! We live an hour from Mobile, so it was useless to stay On! We heard rumors of a woman stabbing her husband, but we were never told this. Of course, Carnival will not leak that information, because they did not handle the situation properly if so!! We were not kept safe, we were allowed to roam around the boat, we were able to leaved the boat without being questioned. To me, that's like letting people leave the scene. If this indeed happened, this foolish person intentionally ruined a cruise for about 2000 people!!!! That infuriates me!! It was just a bad overall experience and I won't be cruising with Carnival again!
Carnival did not handle the situation properly. Really. They returned to port because of a medical emergency and ruined your vacation. How is this their fault? I feel bad for everyone on board. I know we all save so we can take a vacation but things happen. But to me the ship turning around and getting someone the medical attention they need proves they did handle the situation properly. As stated above you were not in danger so why should they restrict movement on the ship. You saw nothing and probably your cabin wasn't even close to the cabin of the person who needed attention as many other cabins. So what were all these people going to contribute. If your cabin smelled like wet mold did you tell anyone. Seems to me since you were so dissatisfied with everything getting all your money back worked out for you. I hope you find a cruise line or land vacation in the future that suits your needs.

I was looking at the perks for platinum and see priority phone line to GS. I've been platinum for a long time and never had this #. So do you have to request it or where do you find it?
It is on the sheet of paper with your platinum perks in your cabin

If you look up the restaurant, it won't be Miami River Oyster Bar. It's The River Oyster Bar.
I was just there last night and it was great.
Thanks.

We usually stay near where the Conrad Hilton is located. By the way without a doubt I would select Conrad over Hyatt. Location is much better too me.
About a 10 minute walk from the Hotel on Brickell is Truluck's. There are about eight of them nationally but please don't think of them as a chain. Their food is wonderful. Have eaten there a few times most recently a few months ago.

Another place we love is just a few minutes walk from your hotel. It's specialty is Italian Cuisine. Locally owned. Unique restaurant in terms of exterior and interior. Attracts lots of locals and naturally some tourists. It's called Perricone's.
We love sea food and there are enough choices on the menu to make us happy plus each day there are a couple of specials one of which will be seafood.
Keith
Thanks. I will keep these suggestions also.

Yes, tons of great places near by both hotels. For Seafood and walking distance my choice would be Miami River Oyster Bar. If you don't mind getting in a quick Uber ride and want something really "Miami" and very casual, go to Garcias.
Thanks. I will make note of both of these.

Flymia is right, the Conrad is much nicer. They are actually talking about renovating the Hyatt.
There is a wonderful restaurant and bar right inside the Conrad. There are also many restaurants within walking distance in the Brickell area. Mary Brickell Village is very close by. It all depends on what kind of food you are looking for and what price range. There are lots of steakhouses around from Edge Steakhouse in Four Seasons, Capital Grill, PM Steak and Seafood, Mortans. There are lots of seafood restaurants around from River Oyster, Trulucks, Bazaar Mar. Lots of It Italian, from Toscana Divino, Fi'lia, Perricones, etc. Burger places, gastro pubs, cuban.
Thank you. We would probably be most interested in seafood. Especially something local and not a big chain.

May I ask where you found a good price fir the Conrad. I know "good" is a relative term. ;)
Thanks
Well I don't know if it is good. But it was better than most hotels I found. We don't travel until next year. But I found it on hotels.com and it was $189 for a king city view room. We don't spend a lot of time in the room so I did not want to pay extra for the water view. I booked it a couple of week ago. When I looked this morning it was $229.

Both are great locations, but the Conrad will of course be a nicer hotel. There is a metromover station right near the Conrad and Regency.
Flymia,
Thank you.. One more question please. Do you know if there are restaurants and things to do within walking distance of the Conrad? I am leaning toward it because I figured it was nicer and I also found a better price for it.

Which one of these Miami hotels would you choose? Hyatt Regency Miami or the Conrad Miami.
We are flying into Miami and staying for two days. Thanks for your input.

Checking towels back in has been a rule for years. I am sure many people took them home before they started this rule. I always make sure and give them my cabin number when checking my towels back in.

At least most of the time the kids will listen if you ask them to please stop splashing you. Now the adult drunks in the pool not so much. I would much rather have kids in the pools with me than the drunks. Oh and I am well over 65.

Freedom (2/25/17) was both my Diamond and milestone cruise. I got the luggage tag and passport holder, Tervis tumblers, water and strawberry delight. Received the steakhouse voucher (letter) and will use on Legend to Alaska cruise in May. Went to Captain's cocktail party- we took 2 group pictures and got free copies. Diamonds were called on stage during Dia/Plat reunion and received a free pic of the group shot. I won a plaque for guess the ship but no pics were taken with CD. I have read posts of people getting milestone cruise 'treats' but I didn't. Wrong move on my part to do both cruises at the same time? I used to have to remind guest services about my Platinum gifts so missing the milestone treats did not come as a surprise. I did not think it was worth another visit to guest services so I just enjoyed the other perks and thanked Carnival.
I have been on 90 Carnival cruises and have never gotten a milestone "treat" other than my sail and sign card having the 25-50-75 milestone cruise on it.

I am happy cruising without VIFP offers. It is just a little irritating not getting any offers.
If it makes you feel any better I have 95 cruises on Carnival and I never get any VIFP offers but the standard two category upgrade blah blah blah. And yes it can be irritating seeing everyone else get all the offers and upgrade/upsell calls.

Over 100 Carnival cruises and no bed bugs

Just had a PVP go above and beyond on my Early Saver downgrade request.
Knowing that downgrades were not allowed based upon my Early Saver Rate, I called to ask if I could cancel my current booking and rebook the lower category. However, I did not want to lose the excursions which had already been purchased under the original booking (FTF & Cabana).
She worked with supervisors and Guest Relations for almost 15 minutes, and finally came back with a verdict of allowing the downgrade, with no cancellation of the original booking. Room was changed, and since the amount already paid on the original booking was more than the new room, I got a bit of an on-board credit as well.
Bonus perk - I probably made someone's day by freeing up a Premium Vista Balcony
Congrats on your positive experience.

I find it odd that it took so long to downgrade you. It is against the ES rules to downgrade you, but any TA can do this under 3 minutes in the booking engine without talking to supervisors.
You must be a TA:rolleyes:

Does anyone have any experience with cabin 7441, 7443, 7445 or 7447?

Royal Caribbean told me that I could not get one assigned to me as they did not do that anymore. ??? IDK. ??? This was last December.
I had one who really knew her stuff. Too bad I got some bad info somewhere.

I was told the same thing. I haven't cruised Royal in three years. The CVP I used to have is no longer there. I sure wish I could find one. I like dealing with the same person all the time. Hopefully on my upcoming cruise I will be able to get a name of a good one from someone.

What ever happened to the nightlight? That is supposed to be the new, current gift.
Who knows. I have been on six cruises on four different ships since these were announced and I haven't gotten one yet.

TLooks like we will not be able to get these discounted gift cards any longer. If your shipping and billing address are not the same, you cannot order. They no longer ship gift cards to p. o. boxes only physical address. Oh well it was fun while it lasted.I will keep checking because I really feel it will be changed again.:(
I know this is a real inconvenience for me also. They started this I know a over two months ago because I tried getting some and having them sent to my daughter's work right before we left in September for the Vista. I called to make sure I wasn't able to and they said it was for security reasons. So now instead of buying the $500 cards you have to sign for I buy 4 $100 cards at a time that do not need to be signed for and arrive in the regular mail. A bit of inconvenience but still worth the discount.
