I always get one a few days after the regular survey.
-
Trust me, that's where it starts, then its... it was a weak drink, it took to long, he/she did not smile at me. Leave the tip on and tip extra in cash (if you want).
YEP!! You hit the nail on the head. I would never removed my tips anywhere on the cruise and always carry a few ones around to give to the servers that I get great service from. Just like the waiters and cabin attendants get extra at the end of the cruise if I have great service.
-
I get one after every cruise. It always follows the regular survey by a couple of days.
-
Found out on our cruise last month that if they do they have to pay port fees and taxes.
I don't think this is correct. The ship has paid the port fees way before most passengers have even gotten off the ship. Much less the staff, who usually are not able to get off before noon.

I agree old news but it's important to bring to the front page every once in awhile.
What I would like to know is how (if at all) did this delay debarkation? Were only the people with the TABC form funneled off to go through secondary screening? Was there more random checking of luggage?
It would only delays the debarkation for the people with liquor/tobacco. Once you go thru customs and the double doors there are several people asking if you have liquor/tobacco and if you do you go to a different line to pay the tax.
-
This has been a tax for many many years. It has been enforced bringing alcohol and tobacco back across along the border towns. Just never been enforced bringing it back on cruise ships. I was talking with TABC earlier this week at the port and it is just a matter of time that non Texas residents will have to pay this tax also.
On all three cruises I have been on this year, the form was in my room in my top vanity drawer upon boarding. So besides the many threads on here it wasn't a surprise once on the ship either.

I once had flowers for a 16 day cruise and they were great. They looked as good the final day of the cruise as they did the first. I hated to leave them behind. I cannot get flower arrangements to last that long at home.

I am hoping the Freedom is a third ship for Galveston doing some longer cruises to different ports. There is definitely a market in Galveston. The Magic and Triumph almost always sail full.
-
It seems like since we booked our Triumph cruise, the only news I hear is about fog in Galveston. Is it always like this? We've never sailed out of Galveston, but will be in April. Should we plan for fog in April?
Doubtful there will be sea fog in April. Sea fog is when the air temp is higher than the water temp. By April water temp should be up. January and February are the worse months for sea fog in Galveston.
And no this is not the only port that deals with this. Just the other day Tampa was closed because of fog.

Sat I recieved an email from Carnival regarding my Sunshine Departure on sunshine and advice on getting to NOLA, traffic and such.... one problem.....I NEVER BOOKED A CRUISE ON THE SUNSHINE......I sent an email to Carnival with grave concern for Identity theft and noy recieved an answer........anyone else get this?
I received that email and then received another one about 30 minutes later telling me it was a mistake.
Darn - I was tempted to show up at the port with my email and see if I had a free cruise (just kidding).
It was just a glitch in the system. Have gotten same type of email before from other things.
-
One problem with this logic. DW and I like CCL, but it seems to us that they do not enforce any of their rules or guidelines.:(
Yes - it all goes back to people feeling entitled and the cruise lines worrying about hurting their feelings for enforcing their guidelines.
Every survey I get it seems my only comment is the embarkation and debarkation guidelines not being followed.

When I cruised out of New Orleans in December, after checking in Platinum in the VIP lounge, I was instructed to exit the VIP lounge and sit with everyone else out in the main check-in area. When we started boarding, people would just crowd the aisle every time they called a group. Very unorganized.
It is worth noting too that no photography was allowed in the check-in/boarding area.
I have cruised out of all the Carnival ports and New Orleans is the worst port I have ever been out of both for embarkation and debarkation. Will not stop me from cruising from there but I keep hoping they will improve the process.
I think Carnival should do as some other cruise lines do. They have seperate areas for the different tiers (Diamond, Platinum, FTTF, etc.) and strictly enforce the embarkation and debarkation process.

Sometimes. I truly miss the days when I started cruising back in the 80's and going on a cruise TRULY meant disconnecting.
No Celular at Sea, no internet, no in-cabin telephone, no satellite TV, (not even a TV in the cabin), no CNN (if you wanted to keep up with the news, you'd swing by Guest Services for a leaflet with the day's top headlines), no pay per view movies (the ships used to have an actual movie theater). If you wanted to communicate with your loved ones, you had to go to the ship's Radio Room to place the call (at some hefty prices).
Wonder what some people would do today if the cruise lines truly went back to "the way cruising used to be like"...

I really miss those days also.

I would never ever do this. What has happened to MY WORD IS MY BOND? Or am I being old fashioned? I do know that among my circle of close friends none would bale out on a commitment to share cost, but perhaps we are all old fashioned.
I don't think MY WORD IS MY BOND exists anymore. I booked a cruise with a roommate and she bailed on me with same lame excuse that I new was not the truth. I will never book a cruise with a roommate again. Lesson learned.
-
Then give it away, throw it away or whatever....it's a GIFT.
Isn't that the truth. I think the bags a great.
By the way, when has a company ever given an free gift that didn't have
their company name on it. That is why it is called a logo gift.

The language used in the article is astonishing. Even worse that it is a real newspaper.
Really??????????

My husband and I are both first time cruisers and this cruise is my graduation gift to him. I am hoping someone can help with a small concern of mine.
We booked 2445 on the triumph specifically because of the 2 windows. I am confused if it has the upper bed still with the king or is it still the split upper and lower. Ive seen post from members showing it with a king and showing it with the upper and lower and I just would like some confirmation that it is with a king. My husband is 6'5 and a queen or twin just wont do for him.
Recent pictures would be totally appreciated. Thank you! :)
I was in that cabin in January and it was an upper and lower then.

My sister is on the cruise and she said no they would not but are doing the itinerary in reverse order. Key West will now be Friday instead of tomorrow, etc.
-
Diamond here also (since they started the diamond program) and have never received an offer like this.
I guess they figure since I always have 4-5 cruises booked they do not have to offer me any incentive.
Congrats to all that have received a free cruise.

You are right that is the Magic........my bad.
I thought that I had read somewhere that they had sailed shortly after the Muster Drill this morning, but according to Mischelle at Carnival the port is closed again and they don't know when it will open or what the effect of the delay will be on Magic's itinerary. That information was as of one hour ago.
I have friends on the ship and feel so bad for them. They are likely going to miss Key West at this rate........and that's the best port on this itinerary.
My sister is on the Magic also. She said was there were only about 800 people on as of about 10:30 last night. Customs was moving slow getting everyone off the ship. As of last night at midnight they did not know which ports they were going to yet. Hopefully they will still make Key West and Nassau and drop Freeport. But if they are in port much longer who knows.
She also said she already heard one lady complaining she usually does Royal and would not said Carnival again because of the delays. I wonder if she noticed that the Navigator was at the pier behind them (lol).
I am waiting to hear from my sister to see if they know what changes are going to be made. I am sure after the long day yesterday I will not hear from her for a couple of hours. I hope they get out soon and everyone on the ship has a good time.

good grief... I thought it was a great commercial. Yes i noticed what was done, but come on. You tell your kids sorry buddy, not allowed and that is it..
ditto!!!!
-
thanks for all the responses - got off breeze this am - we found out it had something to do with immigration and food - finally got on board and something to eat by 1.
Count yourself lucky. Still waiting to get on the Magic that was delayed because of fog. They say should be boarding by 9 pm.
It's all good. I am on vacation.

They did not have unlimited internet on the Magic in January. Wish they would have.
