  1. My husband tested positive and was quarantined during our 14 day Med cruise in May.  We just received the FCC about 10 days ago and only after many phone calls.
I filed a claim with AON Affinity on May 29.  Many phone calls later our claim has still not been processed.  We cannot request reimbursement from Princess for any remaining expenses until AON settles our claim, I do understand that point.

However  I am thinking we have a long way to go before this is resolved.
We understood the risks of traveling internationally at that time and we were willing and able to manage quarantine and a delay to the US.  We just hoped for a quicker resolution.
Just for clarification, my husband was released from quarantine the day before our cruise ended,.  However we could not enter the US until he was 11 days from his positive test.  This meant we had to arrange and pay for our changed flights and expenses in Barcelona.  Things may be handled differently for those that have not completed quarantine before leaving the ship.  My suggestion is stay on top of the FCC and any insurance claim as I am sure both Princess and AON are swamped at this point.

  2. Thanks for the responses!  Contacted Princess and they will cover costs.  As I mentioned we also have travel insurance, so we will likely be fine.  My concern now is that I continue to test negative in order to fly!

Dockman,  Wow I wish we could have flown home today.  I uploaded his documents on the Airlines App and we were  denied.  As for arguing, I might be tempted, but our Daughter is a flight Attendant for the same airline and we often fly on her benefits 😳

Just relieved it looks as if we will be reimbursed.

    Thanks again.

  3. Just a quick update.  My husband was released from Quarantine on Thursday.  He received a letter of recovery from Princess.  I was offered a test on Friday as we were flying home immediately after disembarking.  I am negative.  We were under the impression that we were fit to fly.  When we uploaded our documents to the airline we were informed you cannot fly even with a letter until the 11th day after a positive test.  We spent our sea day scrambling to switch flights and find accommodations.  We are in limbo between being sent to quarantine and being able to go home.  We have been unable to get definitive answers on the ship about what is covered. I will of course  call Princess administration as soon as they open today.  Rebooking flights and hotels is expensive at the last minute.  I am hopeful that between cruise with confidence and our travel insurance we will be covered.  I would be grateful to anyone that might be able to share their experiences with me.

I assume that no one will be wearing masks in the restaurants and bars, so mask wearing elsewhere is pretty superfluous.

Masking in elevators is recommended, as well as other places onboard. I consider it a good choice for myself and a courtesy to others.  My husband was and is asymptomatic.  This does not mean  he cannot spread it to someone  that will not fare as well as he has.  I was asked about experience on the Regal.  I am not here to debate.

True. Protocols seem to be changing quite often as of late. Thank goodness we don’t cruise until July. Since the Regal is already in the Med, that’s pretty much the ship and associated Roll Calls and Live From threads we’ll be following from now until then.

We were told that if we had a flight to the US same day we leave the ship, they will test us the day before we leave the ship.  Of course things are changing all the time.
That is the policy today on the Regal.

Thanks! What’s interesting is that we didn’t book multiple cruises, back-to-back, but rather a continuous 21 day cruise RT Barcelona. That’s why we continue to ask folks on similar types of extended “single booking” Med cruises what their actually experiencing.

Will I be able to book multiple cruises, back-to-back?

Yes, back-to-back bookings will be available for vaccinated guests, subject to availability.

Guests on back-to-back voyages will need to disembark the ship at the end of each voyage and receive a complimentary viral COVID-19 test. They will be permitted to board the ship again once they receive a negative test result.

Guests who test positive for COVID-19 will be denied boarding on the next voyage, together with their family members and close contacts who are not fully vaccinated. Guests, their family members, travel companions or other close contacts who are suspected of having COVID-19, are entitled to a 100% Future Cruise Credit (FCC).

We will closely monitor guidance from government and health authorities and will adapt and evolve this policy accordingly.

Ken , we booked our 14 day cruise as 1 cruise But Princess treated it as a B2B and tested us mid cruise.  My husband is still asymptomatic and still in Quarantine.  He will be tested tomorrow, hoping he is negative🤞  I tested negative and have been tested twice since last Friday and am still negative.  We have had four vaccines and do mask onboard and on transportation and still he caught it, very contagious virus.
Many folks onboard are not wearing masks..  I wonder how many will be positive during testing at the end of this cruise.  Wishing safe travels to all.

Sorry your husband tested positive, and hopefully he tests negative from here on out.

If I might ask, when you say you both were tested "mid-cruise", was that because you are on a B2B and it was a "mandatory" B2B requirement to take the test the day prior to transition day between leg 1 and 2?

Did you also book your cruise as a B2B, with 2 separate booking numbers, or as one "combined" 14 day single booking? The reason I ask is because we have family cruise booked on a "combined" 21 day cruise on the Regal in July rather than as a B3B made up of three 7 day legs.

Also, I noticed you weren't disembarked on transition day and your husband was allowed to quarantine onboard on the second leg even though he tested positive with no symptoms on the first leg. That's good news, as the main thing we worry about is getting escorted on the ship and quarantine in some strange country if one of us we were to test positive because of a "mandatory" mid-cruise antigen test, even though we showed no symptoms.

Ken,  We booked it as a 14 day cruise but many people were on for only 7 days. We boarded on Saturday in Rome, on the following Friday we had a mandatory test.  I was wondering if we might have to leave the ship on Saturday in Athens.  I asked my husband what he preferred, he said he thought it would be simpler to stay aboard to Barcelona  .  I do not know what the response would have been if we preferred to get off in Athens. There were many passengers that ended their cruise in Athens so perhaps we could have left the ship there, I don’t know what the Greek authorities would permit.  Honestly I’m not sure what our best option would have been. I am cleared to go to port,  to go to dining rooms etc  I have no restrictions. I do not feel comfortable at this point doing a lot of those things. I might feel differently after my next test tomorrow if I continue to test negative.  As I’m sure you know this travel is very complicated and the guidelines and rules are constantly changing.

  8. Currently on the Regal for 14 days. We were tested mid cruise and my husband was positive but asymptomatic.  He is in  quarantine they will test him six days after the positive test.  So best case scenario he is in Quarantine for a week.  Disappointing but necessary. They will retest me on day three and day five. Hoping I stay negative so we can fly home from Barcelona.  The most important thing to me is that he remains asymptomatic and that others are not infected!  As I said it is disappointing but this is the risk we took and we will do our best to take it in stride.

  9. I am currently on the Vista and if the report of five /confirmed cases proves to be true  I

would be quite surprised if no one else is infected.  The virus is very contagious and masks for passengers were minimal prior to the announcement of active COVID. So the .2% stat IMO maybe premature.

Case in point I believe someone on my deck was reporting symptoms and being evaluated just this morning.  Clearly I don’t know if this person will test positive.   iIt would be very surprising indeed if no other cases arise from our sailing .

I’m not tsj, but I can tell you that there are signs where masks are required: dining room, marketplace (buffet), entertainment venues (lounges), casino, and elevators. It was not specifically stated for hallways, but most everyone is wearing them inside unless the are seated and eating/drinking. As I said In my original post, smoking has been delegated to the designated open decks outside. I hope that helps.E8D44572-F0CA-4395-BC87-56FE203A15D1.thumb.jpeg.5b8318c5e2de7c184d97d0a4d7393c89.jpeg

Thanks Catsandcruises, you summed it up well!

  11. I am currently on the Vista and what has been reported regarding unmasked young children is 100% correct.  Rarely did I see a child that appeared under 12 masked.  I know we were delayed leaving Belize due to a medical evacuation, it was not stated if it was Covid related.  I will say while I have been very frustrated by the lack of mask enforcement for kids under 12.  I have been so impressed with the service staff, they are always masked, often double masked, cleaning surfaces constantly and following protocols seemingly meticulously.  These crew members are doing everything possible to make this work so they can support their families. At the same time some passengers think it’s too much to ask a kid to mask up in a pandemic.

  12. Just my experience, for the past several yeArs, I have emailed the maitre'd and I have always been accommodated. Last month I did not email prior to our sailing on the Glory. mostly because of the comments that it isn't the proper route. Upon boarding we checked with the Maitre'd, our table was not we were hoping for, he wAs unsure if he could accommodate us. He was able to do so on the second night. In the course of our conversation I mentioned that I usually do email in advance but some online thought this was frowned on. He replied that he could not think of a single reason or Maitre'd that would object to such an email and that it is much easier to accommodate guests in advance of sailing. So, I really don't know which route I will take prior to our cruise in April. Especially since we traveling with a larger group and one person has special dietary needs. As I said this is just my experience yours may not be the same.

  13. Just got my approval, my response was word for word the same as John received! John, thank you for the input and the link to the competitors site. We usually do book with independent guides. Considering the distance and time needed for this tour we will stick with a Carnival excursion!

    Can't wait for this tour!
