  1. Port Royal

You do post some amount of Rubbish at times I really do think you have a huge Tattooed Chip on your shoulder in relation to P&O.

My wife and I were on Queen Mary 2 in October and God Forbid there were large Bald Men with numerous Tattoos onboard and what’s worse even some Ladies.

  2. Indeed not I have always found the best way to get Service is a pleasant smile and a friendly word, I have absolutely no time for any fellow passengers who are rude to or bully any of the crew, in fact I had words with a fellow passenger at Dinner one evening for the manner he addressed a young waiter and I thereafter requested a change of table from the Restaurant Manager.

  3. Hi Snowblower.

I live just a few miles from Glasgow and while it is a very nice City with plenty to see I much prefer Edinburgh as it is very Historical with the Castle, Royal Mile and the Old Town.

The “New Town” area of Edinburgh is not unlike most of the Glasgow City Centre.

I would have 2 days in Edinburgh and one in Glasgow.

Open top bus tours are available in both Cities, do enjoy your visit to my beautiful Country.

  4. To those who have stated that they would like higher prices and higher quality, that can easily be achieved by sailing with other cruise lines such as Silverseas, Oceana, Seabourn etc.

Gone are the days when as one poster started only the “Afluent” cruised if that were still the case P&O would have disappeared from the High Seas years ago.

My wife and I have cruised with P&O every year since 2005 and in my opinion for all their perceived faults they provide excellent value for money, and we must be totally lacking manners as we are among those who may well have two or three drinks at the Captains Cocktail/Portunus Party we learned that from watching all those old P&O Cruisers from the days of the “POSH” club making sure they got more than one drink as the waiters went on their rounds possibly something to do with being “Affluent” or perhaps they now regard those who cruise as “Effluent”.

Never mind I will still enjoy all of my cruise I have booked till 2020.

    Hi

Inveraray Castle is not a Castle in the Medieval Sense it is a large Country House built in the 17th

Century, if you wish to visit a Medieval Castle you would be better visiting Stirling or Edinburgh Castles.

If you are docking at Greenock Stirling Castle would probably be involved in a “Trossachs” Tour, and Edinburgh would be available if you are calling at Edinburgh.

I notice on another thread you cannot source a tour going to Stirling, please e-mail me on jim@sanjam.net and I may be able to give you some info that may help.

Please enjoy your visit to Scotland whatever tour you choose.

    Happy Cruising.

  6. Just for those who may be considering a UK/British Isles Cruise, the Port that the smaller ships dock at for Edinburgh is “Rosyth” not Forsyth, this Port is situated on the North Bank of the Forth some distance from Edinburgh which is on the South Bank of the Forth

Some of the smaller ships can also Use the Port Of Leith which is just two or three miles from the Centre Of Edinburgh.

  7. Hi Pat

Nice to hear from you, this is our postponed cruise that we should have taken in January but Sandra’s mum passed away just after Christmas.

We will still be aboard Azura when you arrive as we don’t disembark till Saturday perhaps we could meet for a drink, Hope you and Scott are well.

  8. We are boarding Azura on 18/11/17 and have been notified that rather than sail from Barbados on the Saturday night we will now sail on the Sunday Morning,

We are also calling at Guadeloupe.

We are more than happy with these changes in the prevailing circumstances.

  9. Hi

When you get off the ship in St Vincent there are water taxis touting to take you to a beach, don't go near them the beach they take you to is the size of a postage stamp, dirty and full of sand flies.

Cane Garden is beautiful but can be very busy, the last time we visited Tortola we did the ship excursion to Jost Van Dyke which is worth a look.

  10. Many thanks Solent Richard(Have had the pleasure of reading your many contributions to this and another well known Cruise forum over the last few years)

Again thanks Port Royal we are both looking forward to our trip on a True Ocean Liner, I was born and brought up just a few miles down river from the yard that built all three previous Queens and many other famous ships.

Thank you for your reply's, my wife and I are very experienced in Formal Night Dress Codes and are more than happy happy to conform with those requirements wherever they are required.

  11. Many thanks BlueRiband and HostHattie for your prompt reply"s, we are both looking forward to our first Cunard Voyage after what has been a long year after the unexpected death of my wonderful Mother in Law who despite her 911/2 years was a very big part of our lives.
