  1. I don't sail until May but wondering what movies were being played in the theater and aqua theater? whoever just got off recently

    Check this link out:

    http://www.cruisecritic.com/articles.cfm?ID=1003

I know from RECENT experience that these are all the right shows, EXCEPT "Come Fly With Me" has been discontinued.

Now, I have only seen the Aquatheatre show, and that was pretty good, but I have not seen any other shows. Not that I want to, but don't ask me how good they were. I have heard from other members, that, if you like shows and theater, the shows are very good. I do not care much about theater.

  2. Sorry, but I have to completely disagree with you. I always like to be as high as possible because it is closest to the pool and sports deck, and I feel like I can see farther from a higher one.

I can say I would rather be on "13" since I am on 13 anyway and they just call it 14 because 13 is *is an unlucky number*

  3. For the first time ever, I seriously cannot decide. I am booking for the end of March 2015 (all are March 22 or 28 sailings) . All the choices are fairly close in costs, the difference between the cheapest (Ind.) and most expensive (Oasis) is about a thousand dollars, they are all between $2500 and $3500 for 3 in a balcony.

I have been on Oasis and Navi, never been on Serenade or Independence (but I've been on Freedom).

The 8 night Ind. is interesting because I've never been to St. Kitts, I have been to all the other ports, some several times.

I guess I can't decide because each has its positives and negatives. I really loved Oasis, but it is the most costly. I also really like sailing from Galveston (Navi.) but I LOVE NOLA (Serenade).

I'm stuck, and I wanna book something!!

    HELP!!

    Thoughts?

    Thanks, Tracey:eek:

Just book them all!:D Then you don't have to decide!

If Independence is cheapest, and goes to a new island, I would do that.

  4. Hi there! We have been blessed to have sailed Princess

    Carribean 2x

    Mexico

    Hawaii

    Panama Canal

    Mexico

    Alaska

    Mediterranean

And now for the first time we are considering RC. We have kids now and although Princess had a lovely Kids Club, the cruise itself is not particularly catered to families.

My question is will I be disappointed in the service, food, etc by going with Royal, or do you feel it is comparable? Frankly I've seen The quality aboard princess reduced slightly the past 8 years.

My hubs wants to Oasis or Allure with their promo right now.

Also I will be asking about whether getting a "boardwalk view" balcony is worth the extra cost on a low floor.

    Opinions?

You will not be disappointed with Royal Caribbean. Their service and food are great from my experience.

Boardwalk balconies are neat because they are unique, and they have a view of the Aquatheatre, and even the ocean to some degree, and I personally quite enjoy them. The main problem with them is they can be somewhat noisy. If you plan on taking midday naps and reading in your stateroom during the day, I would not recommend an Boardwalk Balcony, but for the most part, it is not too bad and fine for most people.

I always prefer a higher balcony, because they are quiter, and more importantly they are closer to the Flowriders and pool deck.

  5. Apparently cruise critic does not like my PDFs, so I put them on an alternative website.

    You must download the pdf.

  6. I found a bunch of posting for AO clubs upto age 11.

    I don't know why I can't find compasses for 12-14 age group.

BTW I called RCI's customer service to see if I can get additional info on this and also another matter for my upcoming cruise.... Was on hold for 55 minutes on my cell... Gave up and just hung up... What's up with the long holds?

The long holds have been going on recently, and noone really knows why. You are not the only one.

I will upload the compasses in a legible format once I can figure out the printer.

  7. Hi,

I was looking to book a family vacation over Christmas weekend. I think we have narrowed it to allure of the seas setting sail on dec 21 out of Ft lauderdale for a 7 night trip. I had a few questions to ask:

    1) Christmas week seems to be more expensive than other times, even the week before/etc. I assume that's just because it's busy/holiday weekend?

    2) when is the ideal time to book for this trip? Should I expect prices to go down if I wait a month or two and get within 6 months of departure? Prices are currently $1400 for oceanview, $1300 for inside, and $2000 for balcony

    3) I see people saying they changed cabins/got upgrade offers/etc after they booked. Can someone explain what exactly that means/how it works? I would like to end up with a balcony or junior suite, but balconies are listed as $2000 and oceanview is $1400pp so it's hard to pay an extra $1200 per room. I also saw people saying they got a lower price when new deals went up after they booked. How does that work?

    4) when do I actually pay for the trip? Everyone seems to advertise low deposits of like $50/pp. given its so low, what am I risking my locking in now (other than the obvious loss of deposit if I end up needing to cancel).

    5) how do infants under 2 work? I tried to get a price online and it said I needed to call in if the infant was less than 2.

    6) any suggestions who to book through? Any real difference between all the different websites out there / travel agents?

    Thanks guys!

    1. Yes, simple supply/demand. Increased demand for the same supply.

    2. This varies lots. Since you are doing a Holiday sailing, you want to book early. I would book now if you know you want to do it and can afford it.

3-4. You pay an base which varies greatly depending on sailing. From the Royal Caribbean site "For all holiday sailings, (Christmas and New Year's), payment is due 90 days prior to sailing."http://www.royalcaribbean.com/customersupport/faq/details.do?pagename=frequently_asked_questions&faqId=2688&faqSubjectId=323 What happens is you continue to check the website for discounts and price drops. If you see something of interest (maybe you reserved an interior and the balcony drops to the same price, you could take that instead.) Call Royal Caribbean and ask to change your reservation. You will need your reservation number. Just keep checking until you print out your documents. (I never print out my documents more than a few days before I leave.) You are not really risking anything as long as you book before 90 days in advance.

    5.INFANT POLICY

Infants sailing on a cruise must be at least 6 months old as of the first day of the cruise and/or CruiseTour. HOWEVER: For transatlantic, transpacific, Hawaii, select South American and other selected cruises and/or CruiseTours, the infant must be at least 12 months old as of the first day of the cruise/CruiseTour. For the purposes of this policy, any cruise that has 3 or more days consecutive at sea will require infants to be 12 months old on the first day of the cruise/CruiseTour.

Please be aware that guests travelling with a young infant that does not meet the infant policy will be denied boarding. No refunds or other compensation shall be due from the cruise line to anyone as a result of the denial of boarding to an underage infant or other accompanying guests.

Royal Caribbean International reserves the right to ask for proof of age. Royal Caribbean International's age policy for gambling and consumption of alcoholic beverages is as follows: Please note: An individual's age on the date of sailing determines his or her status for their cruise vacation. However, if a guest celebrates their 21st birthday during the cruise, the guest may thereafter ask the Guest Services Manager to modify ship's records to permit their consumption of alcohol during the remainder of the cruise. The guest will be required to appear at Guest Services with his or her parent or guardian and to present a government issued form of identification to establish that the guest's 21st birthday was celebrated during the cruise.

    6. Book directly with Royal Caribbean either with their site or the phone number listed on the site. Using a travel agent makes things more complicated.

  8. Hey Clarea nice to see you again....I just read it after I posted this thank you.

What do they have on the breakfast buffet in the solarium cafe? Any cooked eggs, hard boiled eggs, omelets, roasted/oven potatoes, ham/bacon and fruit?

Is this buffet breakfast better than the windjammer? I wonder what the difference is for breakfast here in both of these places?

I realize there is special needs department but that won't work for us as we only are planning eating in the MDR for dinner 1 or 2 times, we already have 5 nights reservations at specialty restaurants and thinking adding another, I wonder if I could contact these restaurants ahead of time to let them know of my special dietary needs when I dine in these restaurants? Do you think special needs would contact them for me or they just take care of me in the MDR?

Ourunusualbeach I am so glad you told me the sorbets have dairy, I would think sherbets can have it but never knew about sorbets thanks for the heads up you probably saved me 2-4 days of suffering lol.

As another person and yourself told me here, park cafe seems to have more sandwiches a no no for me so I think I skip eating here and probably choose whichever one you feel is better for me to go to windjammer or solarium, curious what the solarium has to eat for lunch there?

From the items your telling me that are offered at wipeout cafe seems to fit what I am ok to have...do you suppose there be more items for me to choose from at windjammer or do you (and anybody else if you have advice for me) feel wipeout is the better buffet breakfast?

Hello Oasis of the Seas expert:

I am glad to hear the MDR is open on sea days until 10:30, we will be docking at 10 in St. Thomas wonder if it be open until 10:30 that day also?

Isn't the Cafe Promenade open past 11pm and don't they serve salads, marinated veggies, sandwiches (I could take off the bread), as they have on the Freedom class?

Is there a Grill open for french fries or hamburgers past 11pm?

Wipeout is much smaller and has less food to choose from, but you can always look at the food and then decide to go to the windjammer instead.

I do not know for sure because I did the Western Itinerary which does not go to St. Thomas, but I would be surprised if it is not open that day. It only closes early on days when the ship is docked early.

The Cafe Promenade is open 24 hours, and they have sandwiches, but I do not know anything about salads or marinated vegetables. They do have deserts also such as cookies, banana bread, but I do not know of anything that is gluten free besides sandwiches without bread.

My screen name is Oasis Of The Seas Expert, not Allure Of The Seas Expert, but I know Allure has a free hotdog place which Oasis does not have. I would be surprised if it is open late though, due to the fact that the Donut Shop (in the same location) on Oasis was only open until 7p.

  9. I been very pleased to say this board is wonderful for getting information, I have been helped a number of times very well and when I get back from the Allure I sure do the same for others.

I have some questions that really weren't answered yet on other boards if you don't mind I appreciate if you know the answers

1- What time is the MDR open till on sea and port days for breakfast?

2- At the Park Cafe for lunch what do they have to eat (meat carvings, veggies, salads, sandwiches, etc.)?

3- In the Solarium Bistro what do they offer to eat for lunch?

4- Was the windjammer for lunch very crowded?

5- Does the Allure have the new Chops menu (I sure hope not)?

6- I can't have dairy and gluten so for breakfast pancakes, french toast, muffins, etc is out for me, I need omelets, plain fried eggs, roasted potatoes or hashed browns, bacon and ham which is the best place for me to have breakfast?

7- I know they have ice cream machines do they offer sherbet for lunch time?

8- Past 11pm, where can I go to get a bite to eat (as I be hungry we stay up to the wee hours, I do know sorrentos and cafe promenade) is there any other place to get anything to eat and what do hey offer?

I have never been on Allure, but have been on Oasis, and will answer the questions based on Oasis. It should be the same.

    1. On sea days, it is open until 10:30, on port days, it varies depending on what time the ship is in port.

    2. The park cafe has make-your-own salads, and sandwiches, primarily. The sandwhiches include tuna salad, roast beef, etc.

    3. Sorry, I do not know this and do not want to mislead you, :(

    4. It was pretty crowded, but I never had to wait for a table for 2, except the day of boarding. I could find a table but I had to go looking around.

    5. Do not know this either:(

    6. Wipeout cafe. Has custom omelets, home fries, hashbrowns, many meats including bacon, ham, and sausage.

    7. They did not have sherbert at anytime onboard. The machines are technically frozen yogurt if that makes a difference.

    8. There is nowhere else free you can go during after 10. Sorrento's is only open until 11:30.

  10. My son is 11 right now and turning 12 after our cruise in April. He is a very intellectual 11 year old so we considered moving him up to the 12-14 group. For starters, is that even a possibility and if so would he feel out of place. We want him to enjoy his time while on board. Any thoughts or suggestions???????

    Thanks a lot

    Heimey

They were very strict about age when I was there.

I also should have looked at the pictures before uploading them :(

Once my printer decides to work, I'll see if scanned compasses will be legible. I will post them if it looks legible. This time I think I will actually look at them before posting.

  11. I noticed another one that vanished. The reasons vary, but are normally at least reasonable reasons. The one I noticed was the

"Adventure Park, Zip Line, Snorkel & Beach - CZN3" It is no longer listed under Cozumel excursions. I google searched it and found the page of the excursion though. We did it once in Nov 2012 and were looking for it again, but never found it, so we did something else.

In my case, I am pretty sure that the reason for discontinuing it was there was a disagreement between Royal Caribbean and the resort running it.
