  1. Update! We have a cruise coming up in the Fall and we'd booked an ocean view cabin. As it turns out ocean view prices have dropped dramatically! For us +$300. Note, it appears that balcony prices have gone up. So I called to have my Price Protection Guaranty credited and .... no problem! Such a deal!
  2. They did it for us, but I've heard conflicting info about whether it's official policy. I'd be careful about upgrading because prices might be raised. We also have a cruise in Sept, but I suspect it too will be canceled. Good luck.
  3. Hey guys! I'm sorry haven't been on for a while. Good news! So I did as you're suppose to: I manually canceled our Apr 2 cruise and then completed the "transfer" form. I got no confirmation and no receipt, but I thought I'd just wait. I had said that I wanted the FCC to be applied to a cruise we booked that's suppose to sail in Sept and low and behold it was!!! After a month. I'm very pleased. The only problem is that our $300 OBC is not showing up yet, but I don't think that's a major problem. Now if we can just get past this pandemic we'll be good. Thank you Carnival!
  4. So I just submitted a transfer form. It seemed to be accepted without error, but I don't believe it was processed automatically. My bet is that it goes to a person who then has to make the changes and that's going to take some time. I'll update when I get final confirmation. You must cancel your "canceled" cruise first! https://www.carnival.com/request-forms/reimbursement-form.aspx
  5. Hmmm....That's not what the rep told me! I'll have to try it to see. I'll let people know the results.
  6. Thank you for this information! When I talked to a Carnival rep online I verified that this is true. However, while researching it myself I found that it's not true for all cruise lines. Some lines will allow you to make purchases with an OBC before you're on the ship, but Carnival is not one of them.
  7. SO! I finally got in touch in Carnival on the phone! And...I learned some important things: 1) If you've chosen either full refund or FCC (for a cruise that meets conditions) you still have to cancel your cruise (even if you know it's not sailing), before you can transfer the funds and FCC to another cruise. This can be done online or on the phone (see instructions above). 2) Most importantly I learned that it doesn't have to be a new cruise to transfer, it can be an existing future cruise!
  8. So I rebooked a new cruise and should get the $100 on board credit, but I have a question I hope someone can answer for me. I know you can use this credit for excursions, but what happens if you book and pay for those excursions now. Can you later use the credit to get refunded for them?! Or does it only apply to excursions you book while on the ship? Does anyone know if you can use this $300 credit to pay for gratuities?
  9. Maybe not. You'll have to wait to see how the virus goes. Carnival has only canceled like two weeks. We have another cruise booked in Oct. I expect it to go without issues.
  10. Carnival is offering me full refund or FCC +$300 on board credit. I''m going with the FCC.
  11. So Carnival canceled for us! That was easier. Now the decision whether to get a full refund or a FCC and $300 on board credit.
  12. Question: Can you apply your FCC to an existing booking which only has a deposit on it?
  13. That's scary and what I'm worried about. I don't like making any online transaction without getting a receipt. I wouldn't even know where to look for the credit on their website. The website was flaky yesterday morning, but it seemed better in the evening. I'm still trying to get through by phone. If I can't I think we'll just go. The main reason I want to cancel now is to be socially responsible, not so worried about the virus. The probability is that we'll most all get it eventually. However, it might be better to get it in Minnesota and not in the middle of the Caribbean.
  14. Wow. That's really helpful. Now I just need to actually be able to contact Carnival. 😐
