  1. Oh the kids know (and have seen first hand) what their dad is like. So that is not the problem. My sister said she was thinking of sending him an e-mail yesterday saying "sign it or she will go to an attorney". I told her to just be nice and say "hey, I've had e-mail bounce backs and problems. Can you please confirm you got the e-mail with the passport paperwork & notarized letter".

I told her if she put that she would call an attorney he would say "sure, call one, why not" since it won't cost him a dime and her something crazy per hour to deal with it.

I have not heard from her yet today to know if she sent that e-mail that way and if she got a response.

  2. @notentirelynormal- Sorry you brother had to go through all that. It is such a sham that the kids have to suffer when one parent thinks they like being in control and mess things up for everyone. I mean, it's a vacation....you would think the parent not going would be happy for their kids. But that just doesn't seem to be the case.

  3. I am asking this for my sister who has shown interest in going o a cruise with us and is ready to do the necessary leg work prior to booking.

She is divorced (kids are 14 & 17) and has sole physical custody but joint to the extent that he pays medical and sees them. Over the past year both children have opted not to see him and he as not pressed the issue to see them since he is re-married with a toddler and young step-daughter.

The kids do not have passports. She just recently sent over the passport paperwork and an already types out letter that he needs to have notarized agreeing for travel. She has not heard back from him and does not know if he will sign (not caring) or see this as a way to start a problem. It can be either way with him.

I am trying to help her research other options if he comes back and says he will not sign. I read something about going to the courts to "file a motion" to take the kids on a cruise. I can not find that anyplace on the web like how much is the filing fee and where she needs to go and even better, how long this process would take. She lives in NJ and didn't know if by her not hearing back and filing means he would be notified since he has a nice attorney on retainer (he owns a business) and my sister it looking towards booking a cruise not paying legal fees with court battles stopping her from cruising.

Any info our guidance would be great and helpful.

  4. Thank you so, so much for the more detail...it makes more sense now.

One question...do the points keep accumulating or do they go up and down as you use your credits and cash out? Or maybe I should ask it this way...is 1000 points equal to any certain amount of money....like $1.00 plays is 100 points?

Just wondering, because like I said earlier we don't play much. Last cruise (4 years ago RCCL) we each took two rolls of quarters with us to play only to find out...1- it only took paper money and not quarters and 2- we only played with what we brought and as we won we would cash it out and keep it separate. We brought $40.00 on board and ended up with $60.00 in winnings (so put it towards photos that we purchased- not back into the casino).

  5. I was looking at the shore excursions for our trip and thought we would like to do Grand Turk vs. the other ports. I logged in to see the times and went all the way to put it into my cart and it asked if I had a promo code....I wish I did!! So...anyone know how to get a promo code for an excursion?

And is there really no charge to go to the Margaretville pool? Just wondering...have not really searched this topic yet. Thanks

  6. Thanks! I have learned to wait until the last day to buy photos. There have been so many times that I saw great photos and got them and then had even better ones in the week. So I wait until the last day to make the decision once all the photos are taken. I just thought there was something like a pre-purchase discount towards photos.

  7. I thought I read someplace that they had packages that you if pre-purchase a package (like so many 5X7's or something like that) it would end up being a decent discount. I know this will be our biggest expense since we don't plan on doing any shore excursions this trip. Just wondered. Thanks!!

  8. We will be on the Pride and I'm trying to figure out if you get a separate casino card that you insert into the machine when you play...or is it just your sign & sail card? We are not big spenders....but if we get any type of points what do you do with them? How does it work? Thanks in advance!!

Oh yeah, do I bring rolls of quarters to play with or get them there....or not change at all..bills only?

  9. Thank you so much for the info! I looked at a map of Freeport and everything said shopping in a certain Port L marketplace. It looked like the ship docked in a shipyard and I didn't see shops (unless from above on maps.google it was what looked like warehouses). So that is excellent to know!!

  10. Thank you Linda!!All of this is very helpful. Do you know if they have pails on the beach for all to use? I would hate to have to bring one with us. Then again...I can just get plastic cups someplace if he wants to make a castle I guess. DS is 9, and it has been 3 yrs from his first beach experience so he keeps asking me about "playing in the sand".

Does anyone have a pic of what the "clam shell" looks like? I am assuming it is something to reserve at the excursion desk...but since we are not going to get FTTF I doubt we will have a chance to rent one...but I can ask.

Thank you once again for all the info!!

  11. What is there to do? I mean other then excursions. My son has only to the beach once, so we know he will just want to play in the sand. We are doing this cruise on a major budget and will prolly not be doing any shore excursions. So once we get tendered over...do they have umbrellas to rent or chairs? I can just sit on a towel and we plan on going over later and be back to the ship in time for lunch. So for about 3 hours we can't afford the cabana. Are there any small shops to browse in or anything like that? I'm going to go find the first post of 2013 and work forward from there...but since that's a year worth of posts I thought I would also just ask. Thanks!!

  12. I'll make this short and easy. Out of these 3 ports:

1-which is the best (and easiest) to shop at?

2-Which ones can we walk and snorkel at? (I have my own mask/snorkel- no vest)

3-Which one has a best snorkel excursion?

I wanted to do the dolphin experience but for a family of 3, I can not afford to do it on this cruise. So we want to snorkel a lot, do some shopping and just chill.
