  1. I am not a small woman and the showers are. Showering is all right but shaving my legs is quite difficult. As there is no bathtub ledge to rest foot on or tub side to sit on, in the past I used an upside down garbage can to rest my foot on while shaving. Is there a better way? I think I saw something mentioned about requesting a shower stool from your steward, does anyone know about this? Are the showers at the spa better for this and are they free?:confused: Thanks for the help.

I'm a big girl too, I just put my foot in the sink. I'm 5'8" so I'm not sure if that works for shorter people. The toilet seat would work too though.

  2. Which Cruise are you on?

Sorry it took me so long to respond! My email app logged me out, and I just noticed.

We are on 14 days Athens to Rome leaving May 21st. 2 days in Athens and 4 in Rome.

I visited Rome with my parents as a child, but I wasn't paying attention to prices or plans. My husband and I have never traveled out of the country together before, I'm afraid (of a lot of things!) mostly about missing something crucial, or running out of money!

  3. Go to 'My Booking', them 'Onboard Reservations'. 'Lotus Spa Services' is second from the bottom, click' View Options'. Under each name is the option to 'Schedule Appointment', click one. It doesn't matter which. Use the drop down menu to choose a date, then the service. Then click 'Select' on each option to see the price. There might be an easier way, but this is the way I know.

  4. We walk from the train station, but if this is your First time maybe best to take the bus

You are usually in Port a bit later in the evening, although we always make sure that we get a train back in plenty of time.

    ENJOY:)

Do you need to buy tickets in advance, or is it like taking the subway in the United States? I'm trying g to plan as much as possible. But am getting a bit overwhelmed and nervous.

  5. We have taken our nephew on 2 cruises (he was 5 and 6 on them) and he had a blast. He loved the pool and the kids center, afternoon tea, the shows.. he was as bummed as my husband and I were when it was time to go home. He's pretty well behaved, so other passengers seemed thrilled to sit by a six year old in a bow tie and talk to him about his trip.

  6. We are on the same cruise, but we are staying in Rome for 4 days after the cruise. There are a lot of sights within a few km in the city. The Coliseum to the Spanish Steps looks to be only about a 30 minutes walk. Our hotel is about halfway between, and its 15 minutes to trevi fountain, spanish steps, coliseum and a few other things. You could do a Vatican tour, you can buy tickets online 60 days in advance.

  7. Ok.

We booked our upcoming cruise in December, on a modest sale. Over the next 3 months we managed to save over $1,000 in fare, and racked up $1,600 onboard credit. I think maybe it just depends on the cruise. The current promotion is $250 more per person then we paid.

  8. For the other part of the question, the aft elevators get really busy at dinner time and other peak entertainment times. My husband and I like to walk to the forward elevators and take those down, but the aft elevators are great the rest of the time. Ideally, my husband and I would book a mini suite on Emerald(8) because it's much easier to walk down one flight of stairs to get to all the entertainment and Piazza, then take any elevator we want back up later because the crowds die down.

We also found a problem with the Caribe deck, was by the time the elevators would stop they would be completely full. When we were on Emerald before, during busy times we would run down one floor and take the elevator up from there to Lido. So I would prefer to be only one flight of stairs away from the decks I expect to spend the most time on.

  9. I was on the Crown this past week in a Caribe balcony cabin. We had a view of the cabin balcony below us. Not many people were on their balconies due to the heavy rains and rough seas.

We did have 2 sea days and went as far as 120 nautical miles south of San Diego. Either the whales were too cold, or it was too rainy, to be seen. The seas were also very choppy. The white caps made it difficult to see spouts.

I have seen whales from the ship near Cabo, La Paz, and Loreto. I was surprised to see them inside the gulf.

I was on this cruise also. I swear I saw one spout on the "Ensenada " day, but we were moving so much I lost the spot.

  10. We cruised twice in 2015 with PRINCESS, in June onboard the Royal for the British Isles and December onboard the Emerald for the Southern Caribbean. We noticed significant cutbacks in the MDR menus in December compared to June. In June, we enjoyed lobster tails in the MDR on both formal nights. In December, even with Christmas as one of the formal nights, there was no lobster tail served in the MDR. We did find (and selected) lobster tail from the Crown Grill menu.

The MDR ALWAYS AVAILABLE menu has also changed and we can only attribute that to the Curtis Stone’s additions to the MDR menu. Caesar salad remains, but gone is the shrimp cocktail, grilled salmon, pan-seared chicken, beef filet medallions, tri-tip roast and the sirloin burger. Luckily, the dessert menu hasn’t changed (yet).

On both cruises, meatloaf was on the menu the last night…perhaps in attempt to return us to reality!

Just got off the Crown yesterday. Shrimp cocktail, and all the other always available options you mentioned were definitely on the menu. My nephew ordered the shrimp cocktail twice, and the salmon the first night. In fact, the quality and taste of food on this cruise was better than we have had before. Even the bacon at the buffet the last morning actually tasted like bacon and didn't have that weird after flavor.

  11. We did La Bufadora excursion in Mexico, and one of the glaciers in Alaska this way. When you get off the ship there will be booths, or in Mexico it was people with signs. You just go up to them, figure out where they will take you, for how long, and how much it costs. Then you pay them. Once they get a big enough group, or by a certain time, you load into a bus and go.

  12. Ah just grow a beard ... assuming you're not talking about shaving your legs ...

Assuming you like the beardless look, conditioner works really well in my experience. No propellant, so it stays good. I keep a set of bath stuff in my suitcase, because I'm always forgetting razors or contact solution. I forgot my contact case when we went camping once, that sucked. I had to use plastic cups and hope for the best.

  13. Actually it's just above Club Fusion but we know what you meant. ;) The minis on that deck on the other side (starboard) don't have that issue. In fact in general that are highly prized because of the covered balconies. Also, the one most aft has an extended balcony with a bit of a wake view. I suspect your brother's family had this one but on the port side since that cabin is directly over the Club Fusion stage. There have been reports of this type of noise from those in that cabin previously.

We had a room right above club fusion on our Alaskan cruise, the nighttime noise wasn't too bad but the early morning Zumba was really obnoxious
