  1. On our last cruise we got a free upgrade from an inside to an OV. Do they ever, ever upgrade an inside to a balcony? Just wondering, wishing, hoping, dreaming. :)

Hi keep your fingers crossed, we were lucky enough to upgraded from a guarantee inside on Azamara to a balcony midship on deck 7, it was wonderful.

  2. Another vote for NCL given the ages. We too found Celebrity a great, relaxing cruise but my 20 year old found it a little to sedate. He wanted more variety in nightly entertainment.

I agree if you are cruising with a 22 year old definitely NCL, especially if you prebook all your shows and your speciality dining, I didn't like the ship as much as the solstice class ships (epic) but we thought the entertainment was heads and shoulders above Celebrity these days.

  3. Does anyone know if we will need a vaccination and certificate for Yellow fever to go on this cruise?

It starts in Singapore, visits ko Samui, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh city Vietnam and finishes in Hong Kong.

It is really hard to work out on the NHS site.

Can anyone help as our TA doesn't know and we have this cruise on hold.

    Thanks

I'm not a health professional, when we went on a similar cruise in 2013, we went to all these places apart from Ko Samui, we didn't have any jabs or take Malaria tablets.

We didn't have any health problems during our cruise on Azamara.

    We did Singapore to HongKong.

  4. My feelings are that it is due to all the shows for later diners being pre dinner now. So everybody comes out of the theatre and heads for dinner. This was our experience on the Constellation also. We had prebooked tables on some nights but were nearly always given a buzzer and that was despite being happy to share a table.

Perhaps the fact that tips do not have to be prepaid for select has also increased the popularity.

  5. Thanks for an excellent review, we agree with you about Sue Denning, one of the better Cruise Directors in our opinion, we used to especially love her interactions with Perry Grant.

We always find the food good, especially if you do as your table did and make the additional requests, we usually ask for extra veg.

The entertainment is probably the weak spot for us, but we are on Silhouette in a few weeks so we shall see.

  6. Thanks for these great tips! We speak Swedish, btw. I will indeed talk to him and explain that he should do what the other kids do, and great idea about rhe picture flip book :). Thanks!

Just a little heads up we took our grandson on Allure of the Seas, he was just 3 and toilet trained, but still needed a little help with cleaning himself etc. But because of this he was not allowed to go to the kids club, it wasn't a problem for us as we were a large extended family on holiday, but just so you know.

Enjoy whatever you decide and I'm very envious of anyone who is multilingual.

  7. We never have a suite but do usually have two large and two small suitcases and they always fit under the bed, I'm sure in a suite you should have plenty of room. Enjoy.

  8. Just back from Silhouette, the evening shows were at 7 and at 9 on all days except on day one - single show at 8:30 and second last day of a 12 night cruise when for some reason the shows were at 8:30 and 10:30

Hi we are on the Silhouette in October, I'm disappointed to read that the shows are before dinner for the late sitting, I used to enjoy having dinner and then relaxing at a show.

One of the best activities that we we have encountered on Silhouette was when they had a passenger choir, they had a fantastic member of the activities team called Chicco, an amazing talent and a really lovely guy, oh how I wish he was on my next cruise the last I heard he was in Australia.

  9. Celebrity refused to change our cabin. We did have a GTY but I was hoping they would be nice and give us a cabin that isn't 50+% obstructed, but it is purely our fault. They have many cabins still available, as the ship isn't full.

I was told we could change cabins if we paid $370/person.

I'll call them back a week or two prior to our cruise and hopefully we can get a different cabin or upgrade to another floor for a much more reasonable fee.

Not a great first impression of this line but I can't blame them for my stupidity in booking a GTY. Lesson learned.

Please don't spend the build up to your cruise stressing about this, we are retired so do cruise quite a bit, we have balcony cabins , outside and even insides if the price is right, we often have guarantee cabins we have never had one that we were disappointed with.

The obstruction is not directly in front of you, it is only when you look down, you probably wouldn't even think about if it wasn't described as 50% obstructed. We did cruise once on Azamara and paid a bit extra for an outside cabin only to find our cabin was completely obstructed by a lifeboat right in front of our window we could just about see daylight around the edges[emoji3] We still had a great cruise.

I hope you gave a great time.

  10. It is more than mean. It is not a case of it not costing Celebrity when you call them, they actually make money from these calls. [i spent some hours I will never see again some while ago ploughing through the small print on the BT website to find the information that no ones wants you to know.]

In addition, yet again the email from Celebrity advising of the new email address was addressed to my husband when it is ME that does all the cruise booking, all the correspondence with Celebrity and is the 1st named on all of our cruises. I would not object if we both got these emails but to send them just to my husband is an insult.

    Grrrrr....

Totally agree I have a cruised booked with Celebrity just had a quick query, I was on the phone 5 minutes and it ended up costing £2.50, just glad they didn't keep me waiting 20 or 30 minutes.

I am going try weq4u next time. I think it is disgusting that Uk customers get ripped off yet again!!!!!

  11. Thank you for review, we also love Azamara, but are not in your league stateroom wise, the on,y real negative for us is the repetitive entertainment. We have been toying with Oceania but I think you have answered that question for us as we enjoy meeting and making new friends.

I just have one silly question I didn't understand your comment about the bed.

    Thank you.

  12. We have the Quest (Gty. inside) booked leaving in 26 days and still no stateroom assigned. We booked in mid May.

We shall see what we end up with.

Good luck, hope you are as lucky as we were, but any cruise on Azamara is great.

  13. Jem 12,we are still waiting for our stateroom number for 22nd August ,strangly enough we have it for the following cruise though. Go figure lol

Is the same stateroom available for the first cruise, if not maybe they will do a little shuffle to get you the same room. Hope you get a loveky room for both cruises.

  14. Just booked a guaranteed stateroom for the August 22nd cruise on the Journey.... Any ideas as to when they issue your stateroom number?

We booked an inside guarantee for a cruise last October, we were given a inside right at the front of the ship, I was slightly dreading the possible movement, but we were very lucky and just a week before we travelled we were moved to a midship balcony on deck 7 perfect.

    Hope you are equally lucky.

  15. On our cruise in May the iPads were about £50 cheaper than we had just paid in Costco for one, the exchange rate has changed since then so may not be so favourable now. Plus in Costco you get a two year warranty.

  16. Hi there

    On Reflection in 2 months.

Just wondering if anyone has been brave enough to go to a Hamam in Bodrum?

I would love to experience it but a bit nervous.

My husband is so NOT keen so might try and see if any other ladies onboard are keen and find someone to go with!

If anyone has done- any you would or would not recommend?

    Adele (NZ)

Hi there we went to a Turkish bath in Istanbul, although we have spent many hours laughing about it, it is not something I would repeat.

We expected to be able to wear our swimming costumes, but were told in no uncertain terms no!!!! They give you the most awkward wooden thong shoes to walk in.

We were taken into this very old historical enormous room, we sat on a tiled floor in all our glory, until two middle aged ladies arrived to scrub 99% of us, while we slid around on a tiled floor, they also washed our hair with lemon washing up liquid at best, my hair was like straw afterwards.

My husband went to a different area and kept his shorts

on but they walked up and down his legs which was agony.

  17. We very much enjoyed our first cruise on NCL Epic earlier this year, we enjoyed the reasonably priced speciality restaurants, the fantastic drinks package and most of all the much better entertainment than Celebrity.

We didn't prefer everything about NCL, but we would certainly cruise with them again for the right price, probably not during school holidays though.

My tip would definitely be to book your shows and dining as much as possible before you sail, it is easy to change onboard if the timing doesn't quite work.

    Enjoy.

  18. If you want your little ones to go to kids club please make sure they can completely manage to go to the loo on their own, our grandson was just three when we went on Allure, and although he was potty trained we couldn't be sure he would manage alone. So not allowed in kids club.

We had a fantastic holiday with our family and I'm sure you will too, the grandchildren aged 3-18 all had a blast. Mind you I do laugh when I say to the little ones what was the best bit of the cruise and they say the self service ice cream!!!!!!

  19. Hi,

My family of 4 (2 - 40 somethings and a 16 and 14 year old) is going on a Royal Caribbean cruise the end of July. We're going to Cozumel, Labadee, Haiti, Falmouth Jamaica, and Georgetown, Grand Cayman.

I've not figured out our excursions yet but have browsed them. I am planning on just sticking to the ones sponsored through the ship - otherwise, it would be more stressful to me and overwhelming to figure out and research private excursions.

My husband and kids would like to do the zipline in Haiti, but I don't think I can. Also, the kids would like to do a swim with the dolphin thing somewhere, but my Husband wouldn't want to do that, he'd watch our stuff and take photos though. Those are the two specific ones I can think of, not sure the others.

Is there a way for one in the party to tag along but not participate in the excursion without paying the full price for it?

Hi we did a sting ray and snorkel with a company called Moby Dick tours, we had a fabulous day the boat had loads of room and there was only 10 passengers onboard. I would definitely recommend this company we travelled in 2015.
