  1. i can't find the cost of the specialty restaurants on the Allure, have checked Royals web site. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Johnny Rockets $5.95

Izumi - a la carte pricing

    Chops - $39

Central Park 150 - Meal $40 with wine pairing at an extra $75

    Rita's Cantina - a la carte pricing

    Chefs Table - $85

  2. I have booked 2 OV cabins for my family on the Majesty of the Seas for a 3 day cruise over this

years holiday period . It is way cheaper then any other cruise option and would be a treat for our

young adult children , but will it really be such a treat ?

I am having second thoughts . It is old and small and the cabins are only 120 sq feet .

We took the kids on their first and only cruise several years ago on the Fascination which

was also old and small . But the cabins were bigger , it was 4 years ago and it had recently had a refresh .

I just discovered the Majesty is due for a dry dock 3 weeks after our cruise date.

I am not willing to upgrade to another ship as any other option will be way more then

we are willing to spend . I am sure the food will be good but am not sure about the rest.

Can you reassure me ? Please .

    YES !!! it is a tub ! - sorry !!!!

  3. I am the OP and wanted to update everyone, I got my room back! The email to the office of the President did it. Of course, he did not respond but someone else did. It took 3 weeks but she apologized and said it was a weird glitch in their system which should have alerted them that something was not right when the room was released. They did contact the new occupants of my room and they agreed to move. They probably got a big upgrade!! lol Still frustrating that the new occupants had to agree when I was never given an option but all's well that ends well! 44 Days and counting.......

That's great. Thanks for letting us know :)

  4. Fair is where you go to pet the farm animals.

This discussion is about contracts, and the "fine print"

It was explained to me one time the party that writes the contract is usually the party favoured by the contract and this is true for the cruise lines.

My opinion is that if you don't like the deal, don't do business with Royal Caribbean. There's lots of other options, shop around until you find the deal you are comfortable with.

I disagree totally. Royal shouldn't be charging a single cruiser more than 200%. It simply is not fair.

  5. Nope, I'm siding with the OP, he's getting shafted.

With your analogy, the OP is asking to buy all 4 tires at the quoted price, but then says only put two of them on the car, and throw the other two away - and the store says sorry, we can't do that??!!

As for the double occupancy disclaimer, if a newbie came up to you and asked the meaning, wouldn't you say that it means that a single should not expect to get onboard at that price, NOT that a single can't get onboard at DOUBLE that price! Cmon, here, where's the sense of fairness?

Well said. I agree with you and the OP :)

  6. Tipping is dependent upon getting good service. If you give it first, then it could be considered a bribe.

When we go out to eat, or tip the maids at a hotel.....we tip after so we can establish if the gratuity is worth it.

    Hence:

Gratuity = an amount of money given to a person (such as a waiter or waitress) who has performed a service.

"A bribe" - I appreciate your point but the potential perception of a "bribe" seems bizarre !!!

  7. Just off Oasis this morning.......May 2 '15

In addition to the "regular" gratuities, we tipped our cabin attendant $20, waiter, assistant waiter and Head waiter $10 each, after the 3rd day...we waited to see how we were being treated.

Waiting till the end of the cruise is nice, but, in advance gets you even better service....(they were all excellent from the beginning anyway)

We tipped the bar waiters $1 for each of our free (Diamond) drinks, otherwise they get nothing for serving them.....when you add it all up,,,it's a small figure, these people work VERY hard...7 days a week...

So many of the guests are a real PIA's....

Bizarre - must have money to burn !

  8. So, our cruise on The Liberty of The Seas is in 5 days. I just booked Anthem of the Seas for April 18th, 2016 for 12 nights. I have been checking the prices and today I saw a great deal, $1859 pp balcony! I thought that was a good price for 12 nights! Can't believe it, my husband says it's my birthday present.

Have a great cruise on the fabulous Liberty :)
