  1. Thanks for the info, Clarea. It is very helpful and I appreciate your taking the time to answer.
  2. We're new to RCCL cruising, would someone be kind enough to answer a few questions on 'my time dining'. 1. We're on the Explorer of the seas, are we allocated a specific dining room or can we choose any one of the three? 2. Re the wine packages, do you get to choose any wine from the regular wine list? Thanks a million in advance for any help.
  3. Wonder when they'll put the gates between decks, to keep steerage passengers away from us.;)
  4. Hi Daisyloo, we're on the same cruise as you. There are the usual shops in the cruise ship terminal and downtown Kingstown is within easy walking distance (about 5-10 mins) There's quite a bit of info on what to see at http://www.cruisecritic.com/ports/newport.cfm?ID=164
  5. We stayed at the Wyndham (airport), last week. It's a nice hotel with pleasant staff, there's not much to do close to the hotel but it has a nice pool/patio/bar. It offers airport shuttle, cruise port shuttle and breakfast and overnight room all in one package, not exactly cheap though.

    Unithai Port

Not wishing to cause you any more confusion... we were on the Royal Princess docking in Bangkok last March. Our itinerary showed 'Bangkok Modern Terminal or Unithai Terminal' and a written query and response from Princess confirmed this. Anyway to cut a long story short, about a week before we were due to arrive after several requests to the Pursers desk, they confirmed they would be docking in Laem Chabang. Changes do happen, make sure your transfer arrangements are flexible.
  7. Thanks for the info, Bob, that sounds like a good price from Rabaul Hotel, we're currently booked with Paivu for a 3 1/2 hour tour in an A/C double cab at US$200 for the two of us with driver, guide and all other fees included. We would certainly be interested in sharing, we haven't paid anything yet, so our tour can still be cancelled or alternatively I can enquire about increasing the numbers with Paivu, though it sounds like you'll getting a longer tour for less than $50 pp (each of 4). Looking forward to meeting you on board. Regards IanJ PS. Most of the discussion on our cruise is at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=16991977&posted=1#post16991977 possibly there may be other interested parties.
  8. Traveling Sue & Rob7, Thanks for your replies, they are very helpful. We've arranged for Paivu tours to pick us up dockside so I'll make sure the observatory is on their itinerary..... ....Just hope the volcanoes are particularily active that day (though, not too active:) )
  9. We'll be in Rabaul next March on the Royal Princess and would appreciate any first hand info on the town and area. Where does the ship dock relative to town? Has anyone used Paivu Tours? What was your experience? What's worthwhile seeing? Thanks in advance.

  11. Had a phonecall from Princess tonight, basically redirecting me to another person who handles my type of request.. but they did say that what I wanted was allowed with some conditions, confirmation from the Australian government that it was OK to get off in one port and get on in another... and ... to provide Princess with a detailed itinerary showing exactly where we will be at every minute 'til we get back on board.
  12. ......and I'll let you know what I find out too... We want to get off in Brisbane and back on again in Cairns (my brother lives half way between) and I've faxed Princess 'guest relations' asking for info. I suspect we will need special visas since Oz normally requires them for most visitors.
