  1. I am going on a five day out of Galveston in July. This cruise, I plan on getting Cheers. I know from Galveston, they do not sell it until day 2. I have a major Diet Coke addiction, and will be happy to drink Diet Coke day 1. However, I really do not want to pay $2+ each that first day and am trying to avoid carrying on a 12 pack of cans ( although that would probably get me through day 1 with a few to spare.

I was thinking it would be great if I could purchase bottomless bubbles day 1, then pay the difference for the remaining days and upgrade to Cheers on day 2. Does anyone know if this could be done?

Thanks in advance for any info anyone can provide ( oh, and I know Diet Coke is not good for me, just not ready to give it up yet)

  2. Sorry to hear about the split, it's never easy even if it's the right thing. Congrats on keeping the plans with the kids. They need time with you more than ever now, especially if it's a recent split.

There will be plenty of stuff for the kids to do. Hang out with them as much as they are comfortable with, but at those ages, they will want to do stuff on there own too. Be friendly, and I'm sure you will meet others to spend some adult time with too! Just keep it about the kids and meeting new platonic friends and they will be fine! Probably not ready for parent to start hanging out with another single, but I'm sure you know that. Unfortunately, not every newly split Person gets that! I would just do what I would have done prior to split, as much as makes sense. Kids need to know most things will be consistent. Everyone says it's easier on the teens, but from personal experience, I think it is actually harder on them than the younger ones. Be outgoing with others, keep boundaries and rules for you and the kids as consistent as they would have been pre-split and you should have a blast. Be prepared for "I wish mom was here", as its a very normal feeling. Acknowledge their feelings and move on. You will do fine and have a great time in all likelihood.

  3. I used to get it every time, as my DH is a liver transplant recipient. I was afraid of the high medical bills is something were to happen to him. I can afford to lose the cost of the trip. I could not afford the high international medical bills. However, I checked with my BCBS federal plan and it does cover internationally. It also would cover medevac if needed. The only real risk I see that would hurt financially is repatriation if one of us died on the cruise, but I could cover it. My grandfather died on a cruise to Tahiti and it cost over $12k for the repatriation. No insurance. We had to pay, since his wife could not. I'm prepared if needed, so a risk I'm willing to take.

  4. The other change that no one is really talking about is that any alcohol that is brought onboard (other than the one bottle of wine per person) will be confiscated and thrown out. It used to be held and returned at the end of the cruise.

I get it... But as a sometimes smuggler, I always assume what I brought will be confiscated and then decide on the risk. Never in water or soda bottles though......so no change for me.

  5. If I put the gift cards on my S&S card, can I use it in the casino?

I did just that on my last cruise and plan to on my cruise next month also. The 10% off helps take the sting out of losing! Just get it from the slots instead of the tables to avoid the 3% fee.

  6. Usually there are pretty accurate rumors that foretell what an announcement will be. There were several articles on the internet that were pretty accurate on last week's announcement about the new cruise line that would be targeted on helping people on islands.

I am just guessing, but I wonder if the announcement will be about limiting carry-on beverages.

My guess is: In order to expedite the boarding process beverages will no longer be allowed to be carried on.

My second guess would be an announcement about somehow integrating the loyalty programs on the Carnival corporation lines. At one time JH a had said "something may be coming down the pike" when someone asked; however, that has been quite a while ago.

It was asked two weeks ago and my bet is no decision on this for quite a while.

You know, I wouldn't be surprised if it's the no beverages allowed to be carried on. That could be why they lowered the price on a 12 pack of water from the fun shops online to $2.99.

  7. I got the bounce back offer earlier this month. No other offers are showing up. Anyone know how likely I am to get casino offers in the future? If anyone else had a bounce back offer and then other casino offers, how long did it take after the bb cruise to start getting offers? The one earlier this month was my first on Carnival but I'm taking the BB cruise in July.

  8. ten bucks says as soon as they were confronted by Security they went ballistic on the defensive and overly emotional rather than staying calm and explaining themselves.

as for the sheer idiocy of leaving a weapons magazine( and not the kind with pages) in your luggage?! who DOES that?!

90% of the time things get out of control due to how people (over) react to a situation(Baltimore riots, anyone?!) and make things worse by their attitudes towards the people with the authority.

I tend to agree. However, I can see how a magazine could get left in a pocket and forgotten about. Unfortunately, my wonderful retired police officer/ hunter used our suitcase on a hunting trip. He always unloads all his guns before packing them. Unknown to us, one bullet had slipped under the lining and was stuck in the track for the handle. Of course we did not know it until security called him to guest services before sail away and took him down to meet with the Port Police. They all had a heck of a time finding it, only after completely emptying the suitcase and running it through the X-ray again were they able to finally locate it. He was polite the entire time and after they let him back on (he missed muster as they detained him for so long), we never had anymore issues. The great news is that it fixed the handle that wouldn't work properly!

  9. I just did the all inclusive side of Mr Sanchos earlier this month. I did parasail and it was $65pp in person for the parasailing and $55 pp for the AI. Just booked our July trip online and it was $49.95 for the AI and $55 pp for the parasailing. Every little bit helps!! For us the AI was worth it, as we ate and drank at least the $55 worth and it included the swim up bar that the free side does not include.

  10. I was in 9553, accessible inside for 4. With the wheelchair and sofa bed pulled out, it was a little tight, but it was doable. I believe it was supposed to be 2 in the sofa bed, as there was not a Pullman. I did have them bring in a rollaway, since the teenagers did not want to share. That made it extremely tight at night. But, we folded it up and pushed it in the corner during the day, so much better then.
