  1. Cruising NE/Canada September 2022 & arrive Charlottetown at 8 AM for overnight stay. We depart the following day at 6 PM. Never been. love walking, history, pubs with hard ciders (esp local made) and seafood (although must be gluten free which I will research more). Really do not want a crowded ships 'bus' tour.

    thanks for your advice!

  2. Hi all

thanks in advance for your wisdom on this topic.

We are spending 3 nights post cruise in Fairbanks in mid September.  So wondering if we need a car to see the must see sights?

Also looking for recommendations for mid-priced hotels. If we have a car can be any location. Seems if no car staying downtown may be better?? We will be taking the train up from Anchorage.

    thanks

  3. We would welcome suggestions for activities for this day. Not sure I want to do a small boat cruise as concerned about seasickness I get on small boats....We dock at midnight and sail at 8:30 PM so probably need to be on board by 6 PM or so...

I am also gluten free so eating local is not always an option. Seems like GF options in Whittier are very limited unless we have time to journey outside of Whittier perhaps? First timer here.

All suggestions are welcomed & appreciated.

  4. Been GF for 15+ years now and LOVE cruising... and it certainly can be hit or miss. Just off a Disney Fantasy cruise last week and had VERY high hopes not only due to cost $$$ but live 1 hr from Orlando and have never had an issue when visiting (about 10 x a yr)- they go out of their way to get GF right ... MDR was a miss as I am not sure our waiter really understood the whole GF thing and seemed overwhelmed...... however made friends with the Pool Grill Manager (and their dedicated allergy chef) and he made sure I got anything I wanted (even if not on the grill menu) GF with no issues....

Same happened on RCCL several yrs ago with a buffet manager/chef. Princess has been ok. Regent was fantastic.. they had GF food before I even asked.

I do usually bring onboard certain items- rolls (SCHAR ciabatta/breads/hazelnut wafer packs are great travel well), gf crackers, gf soy sauce packets, and some other snacks so I don't feel left out.

New to Celebrity. Have 2 upcoming Cel cruises (9/2022 and 2/2024) with high hopes as well. Glad to hear they have canyon bakehouse bread... I prefer that than the Udi's from the other cruises.

  5. Love sailing on grand old ships....the new ships are too glitzy for us and

Lack character. We are booked on Rhapsody for  3 b2b next year . Can’ t wait. My favorite ever ships was the Britannia... a small teak decked ship with teak deck chairs..it was many years ago but I still remember it fondly.

does anyone know if rhapsody has a Starbucks on it?
