  1. PoA is Pride of America, NCL America's ship that cruises in Hawaii and therefore has different regulations what comes to alcohol (the cruise never leaves US).

The PDF wine list is what you can buy by bottle (some by glass) anytime in bars and restaurants and the Viva Vino package that was copied here in full is the selection that you can get package discount on when purchasing 4, 6 or 8 bottles at once.

    Thanks for the info. :)

This is exactly what I spent 15ish minutes looking for and was not able to find so really appreciate you posting it. THANKS. These are great prices. I am a red wine drinker and would probably lean toward the highest price package but have only had Robert Mondavi. Assume Mandavi is a spelling error. Can I choose to have the bottles just delivered to our stateroom? I don't see a Mondavi red wine (Deep Rose perhaps?) so would appreciate a suggestion from the list provided?

  3. What cabin category will you be in when you are on the Veendam?

Not all categories have fresh flowers.

Well the flowers answers burst my bubble. :D We are in a VISTA SUITES VERANDAH Cabin Category (BB). Will it have flowers?

  4. Just spoke with HAL who said the 7 day voyages for 2016 should be available for booking in early 2015. Website says relaxed and casual for daytime and Smart Casual or on Formal nights, Formal. Sounds like comparable to RCL to me but pix I've seen lead me to believe HAL cruisers generally dress a little more upscale.

  5. Anyone know when the 2016 USA departure port itineraries will be added to the website? We just booked our first HAL cruise for March 2015 and are eager to see what is available in early 2016. Thank you. Also is the dress code similar to Royal Caribbean or more formal overall?

  6. Well we booked the NCL Jewel and are looking forward to the cruise. The information was so very helpful so thanks so much!!! Nets33 we will let them know we need fast service and why :)

  7. My husband is the one that is having the problem saying yes to me booking with NCL. Other than the negative food reviews he has mentioned, I will have to ask him for more specifics. Change is harder for him than me.

Because of his mobility issues I would say that a relaxed dress code and atmosphere plus a good selection of food at the buffet so he can find things he likes is important to him.. It is hard for him to sit for more than 1 hour and we have had problems on other cruise lines with more timely service in the Main Dining Room. We have been on over 30 cruises so have visited almost all the ports in the Caribbean, Mexico, Alaska, Canada/New England and before he got worse Europe - 4 different times and itineraries. Our favorite cruise line is RCL because of all the entertainment, dining, and venue choices.

  8. Thinking of the Jewel. Have read some negative reviews about lack of quality and selection at the buffets. I like what I hear about it being relaxed dress and atmosphere. IMHO RCL and Carnival's food selection and quality have declined in recent years.

Yes my husband is a smoker and his mobility issues make it very challenging. It's really tough losing loyalty perks we worked so hard to get on Princess, RCL, and now Carnival. But honestly our last Carnival cruise was the least satisfying cruise yet.

  9. Correction it is the Carnival Legend not the Miracle.

Honestly I was surprised that other lines like RCL are comparable or lower in price for similar itineraries. When I priced comparable size lowest price non-obstructed balcony cabins on the Miracle (correction the Carnival Legend not the Miracle) and on RCL Jewel OTS for June 2015 to Alaska, RCL was $150 less (same ports). Clearly the Jewel is a more beautiful ship but I also considered amenities and to be fair Diamond on each line. Amenities in summary (not an extensive list) were:

RCL: What sets it apart is the price included a $250 off on balconies, diamond lounge (continental breakfast in am and free snacks and alcohol for 3ish hours each evening), and value booklet with coupons in various amounts or offers such as free hour of internet, 1/2 off, etc. Priority seating at shows, free tours various venues.

Carnival: 2 category upgrade for Past Guest.

Carnival and RCL had many similar amenities, priority embarkation and debarkation, free welcome party/drink, welcome back gift, welcome back/loyalty food item, etc, limited complimentary wash and fold.

I recognize there are other factors such as food (subjective), service, vibe, etc. We sail either line equally and more so Carnival lately because it offers cruises to Mexico from California.

  11. Have you had a similar issue and/or have any comments to help avoid this in the future or currently? We ordered a surprise gift (flowers) for someone currently sailing on the Adventure OTS. Her son e-mailed me to say he went to Guest Services when her flowers weren't delivered by Day 3 and was told the "Tropical Flower Arrangement" wasn't loaded on the ship in Miami and the ship doesn't carry those type of flowers in stock. I have asked the son to see if they can substitute another type of flowers and if not to get a copy of where they document the issue because Corporate Guest Relations says this is what is needed to get a refund. So one bottom line is there needs to be documentation of the issue in the ship log to get refunds so there is no way to get a refund if you don't have a way to see if your surprise gift was received during the sailing :(
