  1. We are new to Carnival.

I Would love some tips, about anything really. Is their happy hours or drink specials on the cruise, what specialty restaurants should we try if any? Shows that should not be missed? Can you pre order a bottle of rum for instance to your stateroom? Also can you bring your cans of soft drinks or juice etc. for the room? I read bottles are not allowed so I'm wondering how people get their water supply. I drink a lot of water so I don't really want to be going and refilling my bottle constantly.

I'm glad to read we are able to bring one bottle of wine per adult for the room. I also read there is a charge for room service?

Also any tips on Amber cove excursions? We visited there a couple of of years ago on a Holland American Ship and did not leave the cruise terminal.

It would be nice to get out and see something this time around.

In regards, to Port Canaveral hotels, is there one you would recommend? And the most favoured Car rental company close to the port? We are trying to decide whether or not we go to Disney first for a few days and then drive to the port, or go straight from the Orlando Airport and stay one night before the cruise and head to Disney afterwards.

We will be 2 adults and a teen of 13 years old.

We are new to cruising in general. We have sailed 3 times once with Disney and twice with Holland American.

We use to live in UK, Europe, Australia and the Caribbean so we have always done either air or driving holidays.

We now live in Toronto, and haven't left Canada for almost a year and half due to Covid! Its nice to have something to look forward too, even if its still over a year away.

    Thank you in advance.

  2. Thank you everyone.

We wont be going to nightclubs, it was just the alchemy bar and the fortune teller and a few of the others I was concerned about as they look pretty cool. Do these bars offer drink deals such as happy hour throughout the cruise? We aren't going to do the drink package. We are new to Carnival and I assume there will be a lot going on during the At Seas Days to keep us busy. Any tips or suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

  3. I was wondering if you are able to walk to downtown Cozumel from the cruise port? I want to go too the thirsty cougar for a margarita however we would prefer to walk so we can see things along the way. Also is their any recommendations for activities, 2 adults and a child?

  4. Thank you very much. I too enjoy the restaurants at Epcot and at the Disney hotels rather then the other parks. Character meals tend to be quite hectic. Is the food better on the Dream or the Magic in your opinion? I like the idea of the newer ship with all the bells and whistles however a smaller ship with less crowds is also more appealing. I read somewhere you had to line up for everything on the Dream.

  5. This will be our first cruise, and of course it has to be for my 6 year old daughter who is a massive Minnie Mouse fan. I was hoping to pursue her to go on the celebrity or a Royal Caribbean but no it has to be the Minnie boat she calls it. I was just wondering which of these 2 ships (Magic vs the Dream)offer more of the classic Disney character meetings and shows (Minnie, Mickey, Donald, Goofey), rather then the new Disney characters and Princesses etc.

Also my husband and I would like to know if the food is pretty good on these ships. We are not fans of large all inclusive resorts, we have just returned from a holiday to Barbados where we were able to dine around at the islands array of restaurants. I understand cruise lines cater to a large clientele however I'm hoping it is better then what is on offer at the Parks. I have read mixed reviews. I just want o make sure we pick the right Disney ship for all of us.

    Thank you in advance,

  6. What is the best way to book a disney cruise to endure we get a good stateroom and deck? We have never been on a cruise, thinking of the sailing on the Dream in April. Should I book directly thru Disney, a travel agent here at home or thru an online site such as Priceline that seem too offer on line credits etc. Advice needed.

  7. My husband and i would prefer a longer itinerary and understand that the disney is more expensive due to the lack of a casino, however we are limited to the two weeks surrounding easter and i have noticed that there are not too many ships leaving in and out of the dates that accommadate us. The only others are the liberty of the seas, independence of the seas and or the princess ruby. However flights into fort lauderdale from toronto are almost dbl the price for this time. Im also not too sure of the beaches of labradee and or falmouth. Or on the princess cruise taking the chance of having to be tendered into a port. Im really desperate for day on a nice beach, especially after the continuous winter season we are having. I have to admit my husband says im spoiled as we have spent time on some of the most beautiful beaches in the world such as the maldives, australia, caribbean etc. As we use to live in the Bahamas i know the outer islands are very beautiful, i love the ideal of being able to pull straight up to port in abaco (castaway cay) and not have to worry about if we get on or off or not by tender. Nassau, i could give a miss as we lived their for 3 years, however it would be kind of neat to see the progression of the new Bahia mar hotel project on Cable beach and visit the cricket club for a nice cold Kalik. Carnival, rci and probabuly all the other ships offer yes a better price for a longer cruise, however to be honest i sort of like the idea of a family cruise, bring your own alcohol, maybe same quality of

food, a very nice beach day have top notch entertainent that we would all enjoy while our daughter is still in the very innocent stage of her life, disney

offers that experience. Not sure what we will do in the end, hence why i want to hear the opinions of ppl who have cruised.

QUOTE=Bobster17;41847534]Hello, my family and I have never been on a cruise before however our 5 yr old daughter has recently seen a video on the Disney cruiseline and is constantly asking us to take her. Our little one, had a pretty tough couple of years in and out of hospital and we havent been on a proper family fun holiday for a few years, so i would really like to grant her, her wish. We have travelled extensively around the world with her, been too Disney numerous times, and have lived in Europe and the Caribbean however we have never been on a cruise before. We use to watch the ships come into Port and always wondered if we would enjoy them, get seasick etc. The Disney Dream does look beautiful when it sailed in however i also like the idea of the smaller Magic vessel as it seems to be more classic Mickey? Our daughter is still interested in Mickey and friends not so much the newer characters.

Anyways back to the original question, what are the opinions from seasoned cruisers on the older Disney ships vs the newer ones? Quality of Food is very important to us, and medical and safety for our daughter. I was looking at RCI freedom of the Seas, my husband was looking at Holland America or celebrity, and the little one has somehow got the Disney line in the running now too, which I think may win for a first time cruise. Im so confused from reading all the reviews. Help would be very much

appreciated. This family really just needs some fun in the sun. Thank you in advance.

  9. Thank you for your replys, i think we are going to gear towards the magic. Our little girl had heart surgery back in 2011 and has been stable since then however was diagnosed with epilepsy last April and we finally have gotten it under control with medication. She has been stable for over 200 days, hence why we are now looking at a holiday. Our insurance doesnt cover her condition unless she has been stable for 90 days or more. Im just being a concerned mom and wanted to know there was someone on the ship if god forbid anything did happen who could stabalize her.

Thank you again for all your input
