  1. It's sold out for good. I've been checking for months for FTTF for our magic cruise, leaving in 6 days. It showed sold out for weeks, then just disappeared and never reappeared. Not a hater, I wanted it, but it's gone.

That sounds like my experience. Thanks for letting me know. I think we'll just plan to board way late, rather than super early to avoid the crowds and have the rooms ready.

  2. Hello -- we're sailing in about two weeks on the Magic; about 6 weeks ago, FTTF showed sold out, but then the FTTF option was removed from the excursion web page (for this sailing).

I was hopeful that FTTF would re-appear, but now I'm not so optimistic . . .

I don't need to hear from the FTTF haters, but I would like to know if anyone has had FTTF success this close to sailing? Has anyone ever been able to secure FTTF over the phone when it shows unavailable?

    Thanks in advance!

  3. You aren't kidding. I just tried signing on 4 times and nothing happens. What is the discount so I know if it's worth it to keep trying. :)

It’s the same as AARP — 10% discount, but you have to pay with Citi card.

I found that if I log into my citi card account and then try the Citi deals website that I have more luck.

  4. You cannot bank on this, but I’ll say this: folks who add on gratuities but forget to pay by deadline are alterted to the possibility of cancelation before it happens. In my experience, the cruise line wants you to pay and doesn’t cancel immediately ... but, again, you never know

  5. Take your pick

    pronoun: we

    1. 1.
used by a speaker to refer to himself or herself and one or more other people considered together.
      "shall we have a drink?"
      • used to refer to the speaker together with other people regarded in the same category.
"nobody knows kids better than we teachers do"
      • people in general.
"we should eat as varied and well-balanced a diet as possible"

    [*]2.

used in formal contexts for or by a royal person, or by a writer or editor, to refer to himself or herself.

"in this section we discuss the reasons"

Either you work for Carnival or presume to speak for the entirety of this board; I’m not convinced you were speaking in the third person, and at this point you’re just being a troll.

  6. So, I cannot speak to the OP’s veracity, but let me say this: (1) the fact that it hasn’t happened to others does not mean it didn’t happen this time, and (2) that a cabin steward doesn’t actually earn time off for such a sale does not mean that such a line couldn’t be used to elicit such a sale.

I don’t know what benefit the OP has in making up this story and posting it on a mostly-anonymous message board; it’s neither scandalous nor salacious ... just run-of-the-mill grumbling. That being said, it is notable that the OP did not reference any specifics concerning the sailing (such as date/ship).

  7. I, too, have been trying to devise ways to get a notification when FTTF is available — great to see someone else thinking about it!

And, as to the person that scoffs at the strong interest in FTTF, I am sailing with a family of 7 (including kids), one of whom has special needs. You better believe I’m willing to fork over extra so that we can get to our rooms and have almost immediate access to the guest service desk.

  8. Well, now I’m frustrated.

On July 30, I called our TA to get the price difference; she claimed Carnival rebooked our rooms and that we would see a different refunded to us in 7-10 days. I was actually quoted a dollar figure for the refund.

I asked a few days ago about the refund, and she told me it takes time. Now, 10 days later, the TA responds that Carnival is only offering the price difference as OBC.

    Unreal.

  9. I’m surprised by these responses; the Havana area — whether underutilized or not — is advertised and priced as an “exclusive” section of the ship. If I’m paying for this, I think it’s reasonable to expect enforcement of this exclusivity, to be frustrated if it is not, and to expect folks to abide by conditions of use (i.e., wearing the bracelet).

I’m sorry you are disappointed and that Carnival has not responded in a helpful way. I’d take it up the chain were I you.

  10. To answer your question, it sold out a long time ago. I think one slot opened up a few weeks ago and someone grabbed it. Keep checking. Lots of Diamond and Platinum sailors on this one.

Hi! They took down the “sold out” excursion posting, so I’m hopeful that we may see a couple more 😬

  11. Okay, I’ve been debating on buying Carnival gift cards from the AARP website. I just do not want to be scammed and loose my hard earned vacation money. Has anyone had any problems/issues when buying the cards from their website. If I choose to do so I will most likely make sure I can get an e-gift card so I don’t have to wait on the snail mail.

Hello! My mom and I just purchased a total of $2,400 in CC e-gift cards from AARP Rewards for Good (on Friday). I received them immediately and applied them to my cruise booking. It’s the second time I’ve used the program; the first time we used snail mail and had no issues.

  12. Do you just call Carnival (assuming you booked directly) and ask? I just checked and my September Fascination sailing has dropped $50. Not a lot, but if I could get that in OBC that would be nice. They will get it in the end anyway..

I used an unnamed internet travel agency, but I’ve been privy to the call: “yeah, [customer] booked on this date and price dropped on this date. [Customer] is [sailing for the first time/is a loyal cruiser] Can you match the price?”
