  1. Hi!
We will be docking at La Spezia and looking for ideas for a fun day with Kids (8 and 10) and seniors. We’ve been to Florence, Lucca, Pisa and Cinque Terre before so trying to think of something off the beaten bath.

Right now considering going to Cinque Terre (is ferry or train recommended for getting from port?) lunch there and perhaps renting a private boat for sightseeing/swim from the water.
Any other ideas that would be fun and not stenosis day for our family?

Our interests are Ancient Rome, photography (we love picturesque towns), food, wine, water sports/activities, kids activities.
    thanks!

Never been on a European cruise before but we will be on the Explorer for a 7 day cruise on 6/21.  It leaves out of Civi port an hour or so outside of Rome.  The day after departing is a day at sea.  After that are 3 cities in Spain (don’t remember the order) but will be visiting Valencia, Palma de Mallorca, and Barcelona.  Then Nice, France.  The last port is La Spezia for Florence and Pisa.  We are actually flying in a few days early to tour Rome and staying a few days after to visit Venice.

That's one of the cruises I am considering 🙂

Definitely doing it right to stay in Rome and Venice, so much to see and do.

  3. I took Anthem of the list.

Sounds like both Allure and Explorer will be freshly refurbished with new kids spaces and slides.

I was leaning towards Greek cruise on Explorer but now I’m concern reading comment about Santorini. If you book excursion with ship don’t you have priority getting off ship and getting up from the harbor?

Allure is still in the running but significantly higher cost.

  4. Hi everyone,

I am  planning European cruise with family next summer (seniors and 2 kids ages 8 and 10) and trying to decide between the ships - Allure, Anthem or newly refurbished Explorer.

Ports are secondary for us, we are familiar with most of them and will enjoy any of them. But want to choose the ship that would be most fun.

    Criteria's were:

    - must have waverider (I believe all 3 do?)

    - must have great food (is one better then other?)

    - which has the best kids club?

    - any of them have water slides?

    - which has the most fun activities for active family

    Thank you for any comments!

  5. Hi! I've never sailed Princess and are considering it for New Year's eve cruise from LA to Mexico (also looking at NCL Star and Carnival Miracle). It will be grandparents, mom (me) and 2 kids (6 and 8 years old).

I am wondering how is Ruby for kids, their kids club and if it will be family friendly cruise? Or more of a senior atmosphere? How are aboard activities?

I would appreciate any advice! Thanks!

  8. Hi,

We will be first time in Labadee with 2 kids (5 and 7) and I am getting really confused about the cabana rentals/different beaches.

Here is what I am looking at:

    - Nellie's beach over the water cabana (ugh, so expensive!!!)

    - Nellie's beach cabana

    - Beach bungalow Columbus Cove

    - Beach bed Adrenaline Beach

    - Amiga Island

    - Malfini beach

If we splurge on cabana which would be best area for kids? They can swim well, are active but I would want the cabana to be right where they are swimming/playing.

Would Amiga or Malfini be a good fit for kids?

We like fun, water park sounds cool but do not like crowds!

    Please help!!!

  9. I'm on the cruise after yours. What movies are playing onboard (IMAX)? Is the onboard ATM dispensing Euros or Dollars?

Yes there are 2 ATM machines one for euro and one for dollars. Here is imax schedule:

  10. Hi, azmaui - hope you are having fun and thanks for your gracious offer to answer questions! If you stop/exit on Deck 9 Midship elevators and face opposite of the stairs, is there a door between sideways cabins 9342 and 9341? If so, what is door labeled? I will be directly below that door in October and am concerned what's above me (noise etc). Thanks again for doing this!

    Carley

Hi I've checked and there is a locked door labeled pool maintenance. No idea if it will affect noise in your cabin. FYI I've stayed in cabin 9363 right under lido deck and never heard any noise from there! But I could hear neighbor's tv.

  11. I will be posting more details once we are back home.

Yes we had first formal night on the sea day.

Have been using camp ocean every day, kids usually go there in the evening (I take them to dinner on Lido or bring them food to the room). They also have an option to take kids to dinner at 6pm which my kids did yesterday and liked it. Couple of days they stayed for a few hours during the day when I went ashore and only my parents were close by and had a blast. They don't want to leave the ship now and prefer to stay in club and play! I'm very impressed. Having sailed on Disney before I didn't expect such a great kids club and kids loving it that much!

  12. I'm not an experienced cruiser at all, been only on 2 cruises before on other lines. I think vista is beautiful and I'm enjoying the cruise but I am really surprised how much I can feel the ship move. Even staying on deck 9 I feel vibrations and movement. And eating dinner on deck 3 feel ship rocking. It doesn't bother me much, just a surprise as I didn't feel that on my cruises before (unless we had severe weather conditions).

  13. Hi, we got email from carnival not to arrive before 1pm. They suggested arrival 1-6pm. We arrived around 2pm and it was packed. We had a choice to check in or carry luggage. I carried mine, my parents checked in theirs. It was very hot and crowded and it took us half hour to get through to check in line. Then they gave us number to wait for embarkation. By that time my mom who has heart condition was not feeling well and almost fainted. I talked to carnival rep and they brought her wheel chair and took us through all the lines forward. (After a line to check in there was another line to get to security building. Then another line to get through security. And one more to go through passport control!) It took us an hour being escorted through and skipping the lines to get to the line that takes you aboard... I have no idea how long it took for people who arrived around the same time and waited but I would think at least 2-3 hours.

  14. I'll be traveling with the kids alone (my husband stays home) does anyone knows if I still need the letter from him? Or does it apply only if you are no longer married?

We are planning all stops on our own. Rome4kids seems great and we will do some tours through them and in couple ports just have a driver for the day so he can take us wherever we want to go to. In Livorno we will take Tuscany bus to Pisa and in Rhodes just walk around. I'm planning on few half days so kids don't get burned out!

  15. Hi I'm taking my 4 and 6 years old on vista in June :) I'll let you know how it goes! I know they will love the ship, don't know how they will handle sight seeing. I'm looking forward to kids club which I know they will enjoy and it will allow me to have some adult mommy time.

Hope there will be other young kids on our sailing! I choose my time dining so we can go to dinner when we are ready, I don't want to stress and rush kids for specific time.
