  1. Planning a New England Canada cruise for my mom.  Finalizing this week and can't decide between the first and second week of October. Mom loves the change of leaf color (Florida so not much color ever here!) so leaning towards the second week of October (week of the 8th) so we might see some color change. I know that some things start to close around this time though, so I am unsure what to do.  Thoughts or suggestions I might not have considered.

    Itinerary/Ports:

    Newport, Rhode Island 6am-4pm

    Portland, Maine 10am-7pm

    Bar Harbor 8am-5pm

Saint John Bay of Fundy, Canada 9:15 am-9:05 pm

    Halifax, Canada 2:30pm-11pm

I'll try to help but I really concur with TheOldBear that using a broker (it doesn't cost any more than on your own and they do answer questions, help find the better fit for your needs, and will provide help with filing claims if you need it) I use TripInsuranceStore and if you call them, they are very helpful.

To your question. $100K is what I look for. I also choose a "Primary" vs. "Secondary".

By your question in general, I will add that even if medical care is needed, in most cases, you will have to provide a credit card to receive care when outside the US. Travel Insurance is reimbursement only. In rare instances, the insurance company may or may not provide a letter to the provider upon request of proof of ability to pay. This is a question that a broker can help with.

Thanks, very helpful.   I actually selected a plan with a 250K primary and $1M evac. after alot of research. I was trying to get an idea of what others typically do.  I have the ability to pay whatever needed upfront and have that end covered.

  3. I purchased Nationwide Cruise Choice policy with CFAR today for a cruise this summer in Europe. (Have 10 days I review it) I picked it because it was the only insurance with cancel for any reason and preexisting condition Waiver  Available if purchased before final payment. I am trying to figure out if it will cover us medically? There is no mention of pandemic or epidemic in the exclusions, so does that mean we would be covered? This is all so confusing!

Does anyone know who the smaller independent excursion was? I appreciate the outpouring for Michelle, but she is not the only operator in Ketchikan. We know Taquan was involved, but who was the other one?

The other Floatplane company was Mountain Air Service.

We're looking at both of these cruises as well, and had the same question- thanks for asking it! I'm still hoping they will offer something similar to the Spirit itineraries for this coming summer... 15 days out of Southampton or Stockholm. Those are perfect for us in all but the timing (summer '19 versus '20).

It's funny you say that, as we are hoping of the same, but want to reserve this so we have something we want to see. This looks like a great itinerary and Ive heard great things about the Escape. We are still holding out that the rest of the 2020 itineraries will show in the next 2 weeks. Last year they showed up early May.

Are you sure the ship actually docks at Rostock?  Warnemunde is where the larger ships usually dock.  Rostock is further down river, reached by a ferry.  Warnemunde is extremely pretty, interesting to stroll and go to the beach.  Rostock is a university town, also very interesting and worth booking a walking tour.  More history there.

Yes, sure its Rostock. All cruises in 2020 go to Warnemunde but this one. These dates work best, but was wondering if it was a good itinerary with the change in port.

Just informed by NCL that the 4/27 Getaway transatlantic has been shortened from 12 days to 10 days and we will not go to Brussels and LeHarve.  This is so disappointing I cannot even begin to explain. Not getting to see Normandy, the only reason I booked this cruise, is devastating.  Although they are refunding 25% of the cruise price and any scheduled shore excursions, I am done with NCL.  Our last cruise on the Escape had issues for us and they were not willing to help us with a huge medical bill incurred by an issue they should have addressed.

Could you take the Chunnel or fly easyjet and still go see Normandy with the extra days?
