  1. Sharon,

I am so sorry for your horrific loss. I am a lurker here, but your post made me feel a need to comment. I hope that your husband's memory is a blessing to you and all who knew and loved him. I also hope that you are able to enjoy the upcoming cruise and the time with your family. Please know that even though I don't know you, I feel your loss and send you strength and support.

  2. Funny that I saw this today (I've been scarce around here and have missed so much!). I also saw a picture of Marilyn Monroe in a two piece bathing suit and she did not look thin. She looked fabulous, but not like the models we see now. It got me thinking a bit about how I beat myself up and won't wear certain things. That, combined with this post, make me think I have to start realizing what I have put my body through (3 kids, illness, a bunch of surgeries, etc...) and I should start saying that I look pretty darn good! I guess my point is that I am now taking your message and the picture as a sign that I have to start being more positive about my self image...and by the way, you all look fabulous!!

  3. It is still snowing here and nothing is open (not even our offices!) so I wandered over here to daydream of warmer places.

I love the formal pics Sherrilynn...you must be a great faker, but sometimes you convince yourself! Hope it was a great cruise.

Indiana, I love the outfits. I guess you should wear green (so you don't get pinched!) but personally, I look awful in it. The outfit you've chosen is pretty and should be perfect.

I'm wondering now though if I need to wear red for Valentine's Day...it will be our second day onboard. I love red so it isn't a problem, but I hadn't thought about it.

I probably need to think about packing too...we leave in ten days!

  4. i am a lurker here but love seeing what everyone posts. Such pretty dresses...too bad I'm bigger than a 6 and my daughters are smaller! It is so generous the way you help each other with the exchange of clothes. Some day I'll purge and post...or see something that will fit.

I feel like I know you ladies and love reading what you have to say. Marie, I hope you're feeling better. I've kept you in my thoughts.

    Back to lurking....

  5. I'm looking for a dolphin swim for our family in Nassau---husband, me, 20 yr old daughter, 18 yr old son and 15 year old daughter. We'd like to do this and spend the rest of the day at the beach. Can anyone provide suggestions please? We will be there Christmas week.

  6. I like modcloth and shop there quite a bit. I do feel that a lot of their styles trend younger (and I'm only 30). The quality is also hit or miss and there's no way to know in advance because they don't publish the brands. I know some people do reverse-image searches of their products and are able to find them for 50-70% cheaper (probably another reason why they don't publish brands - their prices are very inflated). Having said that, I still place orders with them probably every other month or so...the return policy is great and if there are any issues, they are always very fast to fix them. :)

How do you do a reverse-image search?

  7. I know I'm late coming to this party and I've only posted once or twice, but I wanted to wish you (Marie) all the best. I love seeing your photos. You always look not just beautiful but serene and happy. You are so kind to everyone and I'm sorry someone was able to hurt you so deeply. I am sending you warm thoughts and prayers as you deal with your health issue. You've got lots of cruising to do so you just need to get through this.

I also wanted to let you know that there are many of us you have touched that you've never met. As I said I've not posted much and never taken you up on your generosity but you've still touched me. Wishing you all the best in health, happiness and, of course, cruising! <3

  8. What a good friend you are! When my kids were younger we always dressed the same for one day in Disney. People would actually stop us and we were put at the front of a lot of lines! I always had the kids help decide. A couple of times we tie dyed shirts---that way we were all the same colors yet not exactly the same. Another year they designed something which we turned into transfers and then put on shirts. Another time we all wore Hawaiian shirts. I think whatever you pick will be great and I hope it aids in their healing.

  9. Glad it worked for you Lisa! I hope you enjoyed Niagara Falls too!! I am somewhere in between on the packing. I like to wear different clothes at night, but I repeat during the days---and wear bathing suits A LOT! I manage to usually wear everything with usually one top that doesn't get worn, but I am okay with that. I have started steering toward lighter dresses that fold (jersey, ponte, knit, etc) so they pack down small and make it easier. I have found that I CAN get it all in a carry-on, but feel so bogged down that I put some in a carry-on and check some. I always try to have a couple of days' worth in case the luggage doesn't catch up (It's happened to me more than once!). I think everyone finds what works best for them.

  10. I always look at what we are saving and if it is worth my time...We often travel with our three kids so it is X5 and usually worth the drive. I am in Upstate NY so we often drive to Newark, NYC or CT to save. Typically, $1,000 is the cut-off for us. If we save $1,000 or more, we will do the drive (roughly three hours to all of them) Last year, we drove all the way to Philly (5+/- hours) and saved $3,000! I hated the drive, but I LOVED the money we saved---it was a down payment on another vacation!!

  11. JDrag, the dresses are gorgeous! Where did you get them? I am looking and looking and can't find what I want...everything formal I find seems to be too "prommy". Maybe that is because it is still prom season here, but I am getting frustrated. Your dresses are beautiful and not too young or too matronly. If you don't mind, please share so I have yet another place to look!!:)

  12. This is a great list. Thanks for sharing it. How many times did you send out laundry? Was it all missing from the same time or multiple? Did the items ever fid their way home? Honestly, that is what I worry about most with sending out laundry. I've managed to pare my list down pretty well (not as well as you though!) and I worry about not getting something back that I needed.
