    Tell me about Conquest 1A's

Based on Carnival's deck plans, I'd say no. I've been in 2217 and it did. Carnival would know for sure. Call them and ask for a description of the specific cabin(s) you are interested in.

I decided some time ago I wouldn't buy another camera unless there was an affordable waterproof case for it. There seem to be hard cases available for your camera, but they cost more than the camera and will be bulky (but really good) e.g. http://www.digifish.nl/en/equipment/housings.html?model=Canon+EOS+350D Even an Aquapac that might fit the camera looks like $120 but is only rated to 15 ft. I did use a Ewa-Marine bag for my first pictures before deciding I wanted more, but for your camera might cost several hundred $$. http://www.aquapac.net/usstore/erol.html#588X0 http://www.ewa-marine.com/english/cameras/e-slr.htm If starting over again, I might try the Aquapac just to see if I even liked carrying a camera around in the water, but would also give serious consideration to buying one of the small Canon powershots after verifying a Canon waterproof case was available. http://www.powershot.com {not all models are listed} http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=StandardDisplayAct&fcategoryid=113&keycode=underwater_photo I am intrigued by this one, but would be close to $500 with underwater case. http://www.dpreview.com/news/0608/06082405canona710is.asp Hard decision...

There is a large salt water pool right at the dock area. Or $5pp rt to town where there is basically one long beach to choose from.

It is to the right as you are walking from the cruise ship to the port. I would glance over to see if it looks like they are open. If not, then would bring water and whatever else you might want/need. If taxis are going there for a reasonable amount of $$, I might do that one way. Politics being what they are, taxi drivers could be an ally. I did see bits of glass now and then so might eyeball any potential play area.

When only one or two ships are in port, it didn't seem so crowded, but 3 seems to push it to the limit. The tourist village area is nice and clean, but comes with a price ($$). The pool is saltwater. No real beach, just ironshore to get to the water. I don't spend much time there, but during prime hours it seems full (before and after tours, and in between ;)). But I think there is a fair amount of turnover so may be able to find something without a long wait. Late in the day lots of space available, once most have drunk their fill or been burnt to a crisp. :)

Thank you. The short answer is the soldiers with machine guns, if they see you. You could try, but they don't make it easy. There are no diving signs all along the piers. There are no trespassing signs all along the wall: There are some other obstacles: But in theory it doesn't look so tough.. (then there is the issue of getting back, too)

I have no experience with Aquapacs. I would think they work ok, but you wouldn't have full access to your camera controls. I use Canon's waterproof case for my specific model. There is one available for the A630. They are more costly than Aquapacs at around $170 +/-. Your camera is so new, you may have a hard time finding the Canon case in stock. Looks like the model is WP-DC8. Try google for Waterproof Case Canon A630. You mght start with Aquapac and if you decide you want something more then move up.

Politics is alive and well in Costa Maya. The 20 million invested in building the pier has already paid off. No wall is necessary, except to try to starve a business out of business and be forced to sell. Chaci-chi sits on prime acreage.

I went a little bit outside. Chac-chi was my third stop that day and my legs were starting to cramp. Next time I'll venture a lot farther. The only currents I have ever noticed in the area are the waves that are pushing you towards the shore. There were several coves to the north that looked like that might have great potential.

Goff's - I went with ships tour. Vests were not mandatory. Also after boat snorkel, you could swim to the island and not have to board the boat. I just snorkeled around until it was time to go back to the ship. I didn't find Jesus - One of the barkers on the street got me to sign up and they found a guide. Not sure I would go again like that, but for $15? The trip from Cat's Meow might be better and was only $20, but they needed six people to go or to charge a little more per person. On prior trip, I ended up on a different $15 trip that left from Tequila Beach. http://www.zydecocruiser.com/costa_maya_dec_26.htm I think the best snorkeling is at West Bay in Roatan. Tabyana Beach and all that. ----------------------- What else? My camera is a Canon s1 is. At Chac-Chi you need to explore to find things. The stingray was actually pointed out to me by someone else who discovered. There looked like a cove or two or three north of the facilities that look like they have great potential for future trips. You can never post too many pictures. Go ahead and post Cat (or was it Mack?).

Thank you. I took my own equipment, but did not see any available and don't know of any. There are not a lot of amentities, but I'm ok with that and they do have location, location, location.
