Good to know. We will be in AquaTheater Suite on the 29th, the Oasis. 3rd time for this suite, first time for a Genie. So looking forward to it. Trying to figure out how to have hard liquor in suite for drinks on the balcony without having to run out to the bars. How did you manage to have hard liquor in suite?
-
Just curious, did you tip at the beginning and the end? I know some people do.
-
We three try to travel every other year. It is a lot of fun. Not going to meet and mingle. Would like to meet you and your family. I am Pam, girlfriends are Michelle And Rhonda. Give us a holler (or you can knock on the door😊)
-
I think we are in 9330. Are you on the roll call? I am traveling with two girlfriends. We are getting very excited.
-
Thanks for the info. Would be nice if they would be consistent. Now that I know the brand, I will go on line and see what selections are available. Typically hotels are ships have very generic coffe avail for the machines. I like a very dark roast first thing in the morning without having to go out or wait for room service.

Thank you so much for the pix. I like dark roast and was going to bring my own packets. The allure had the drip machines. I heard that Harmony has Nespresso machines. From the picture you sent, I am not sure what the one in your suite is. The packet says pods but there are so many sizes. I guess I will just wait till we sail and go with what the ship has or go down to Starbucks. You are so kind to have taken the pictures.
We will be in 9330. On my other trips we have been in the aqua theater suite on 8, that was not available this time. Curious as to whether being one floor up makes it difficult to enjoy the aqua theater shows? What deck are you on and are you able to enjoy the shows?

We will be on the Oasis in a two bedroom aqua theater suite on the 29. This will be my third time in one of these suites. I love them. It is all about the balcony. We usually have breakfast out there every day of the cruise. First time with a Genie! In fact Allen just contacted me today. I had not heard anything about him. Thanks for letting us know you are impressed with him. You never know. I have read on here that some are fantastic and some just so so.
Do you have a drip coffe maker in the suite or a Nespresso machine?

On Celebrity we frequently bought a bottle of grey goose with set up for the room. Sure it was pricey, but, as many have said on these boards, it is so nice to mix a drink and go out on the balcony. Who wants to go back and forth to the bar! Maybe some vodka and limoncello could be added to the list.
RCL are you listening?

It is about time! Hope they add other types of liquor.

I am also on Harmony early May, ( May 6) and I will be bringing my hairdryer. As was posted, the ones on the ship and in most hotels are not good. Mine is a pretty powerful yet light weight travel dryer from brookstone. I love it. Never had a problem bringing on board.

What deck? We are deck 9 on oasis on January 29 AquaTheater Suite. Very interested in your contact with your genie and on board experience.

I will be on her in May, deck 9 AquaTheater Suite. Also interested in Genie review.

That comment would certainly put a cloud over the whole vacation. Surveys in general are a pet peeve of mine. It seems you cannot do or buy anything any more without being hounded to fill out a survey. Without even getting in to what can, is or could be done with that information, they are just a pain in the neck.
It has seemed over the last several years the cruise industry has taken the survey to the next, bad level. More and more we are pressed by crew members all over the ship to fill out the survey and fill it out with only top marks. So, what good is it. The cruise lines surely are aware of the pressure the crew is putting on the guest. So, the question becomes why are the crew (I use crew because it is easier than naming each category of the ship employees) constantly asking guest to fill out the survey. It has to come from those higher up the chain. Who knows where it goes or how high.
So we know RCCL monitors this site, if you are reading this you need to understand this is a problem!
It may be your vacation, but, it is my life! Chilling to say the least. How sad that a hard working crew member is put in that position. Sadder and even frightening that a paying guest is subjected to those comments. This needs to be fixed.
I would have done the same as you. Don't want to get the crew member in trouble. But also, not filling out the form falsely.
Hope someone follows up on this.

Thanks for info on coffee maker. Sounds like the same type we had on Allure. I believe the Harmony has the Nespresso machines and I did not know if they had upgraded on the other ships.
-
Is there a coffe machine in your suite? Is it a Nespresso? If so could you tell me the model and what kind of pods?
-
Thanks for the info.
-
Thanks for the info. I knew k-cups would not work. When I say flavored I was really referring to the strength. I prefer really strong coffee. So, when you describe the large and small pods, do all machines take both? Doesn't seem like they would. Good info about the pods, but, I guess I still need to know what type pods go in the machines on the Harmony. Large or small. Help.
-
Looks like suites on Harmony have Nespresso coffee makers. Don't think that is what we had on Allure. Can any one confirm this? I have a Keurig and am not familiar with the Nespresso machine. Are all the pods the same or do different models take different pods. If I know what to buy, I will carry some on board with me. I know the ship will have supplies, but the flavors are not always what I prefer. Just thought someone might know.

I agree with recommendation for Carnegie. Close and easy. Be aware of size of sandwiches. Very expensive, but plenty big enough to share. If you don't want to eat in, get sandwiches to go and walk up to Central Park for a picnic. Not very far.

I wasn't going to say anything.

My DH and I used to go to NYC (from NC) at least twice a year. Had our favorite places. Stage was one. DH can no longer travel. Now our tradition is that when the grandkids turn 10 they get a trip to New York and they get to bring one parent with us. Grammy foots the bill. Have taken 3 so far, one to go. So, of course we do all the tourist things.
Last trip was in July this summer. My grandson became very ill soon after getting off the plane. Nursed him through the night. Next morning went to urgent care. Had strep throat. Of course we were staying in the hotel room so he could recover. Staying at the Marquis Time Square. Needed food. Carnegie just a few blocks away. Chicken soup and grilled cheese for him and huge deli sandwiches for us. They gave lots of extra bread, mustard and pickles.
We thought it was wonderful. Much better than I remembered. Grandson recovered and was able to go to theater next night (he was on antibiotics and doc said he would not be contagious then).
Wonder if the ships deli food will have healing properties. 🤒Sometime you end up not feeling well on the ship. Good chicken soup available when you need it would be wonderful!

🤗🤗🤗 made me smile.

Always wanted to try Katz but never in that area. Stage Deli was our go to for years. Now, I think it is Stagecoach Sports Bar.😢 Tried Carnegie again this summer. It was much better than I remembered. I agree a RCL video sandwiches were not New York Deli size! Maybe you can ask for 5 times the meat and cheese.🤗
Luggage valet NIGHTMARE
in Royal Caribbean International
Posted
ZSTARBRITE, sorry about your luggage valet mishap. It is true that when traveling these things sometimes happen. What should not happen is the poor communication and, what sounds like, utter lack of helpfulness from Royal Caribbean. We were on the same Jan 29 cruise in a deck 9 AquaTheater Suite. Allan was great. We did not send laundry out (I have had not great experiences in the past) and did not have your needs for proper refrigeration, so can't really speak to those difficulties. Wonder who ended up with your breast milk? Anyway, our Star Class experience was great. We had many of our meals on our balcony. It was great to be able to order from the specialty restaurants, including mixed drinks.
Curious about your embarkation issues. Allan had emailed and asked that we call his cell about 30 minutes out and he sent us an email saying once inside the terminal to look for Brian or (can't remember other name) also to call in if there was a problem. We called, arrived at terminal, showed our little Star Class sign (this was also in an email), we were immediately whisked up by a port genie, she had a porter with her who collected the bags, and went immediately through security, over to the picture taker check in person and handed off to Allan and up to the room. Total time was however fast one could walk from the terminal door, trough the terminal, up the ramp and to the room. Did you receive this embarkation info?
