I met Momma Lou on one of the HAL cruises. She has a uniform from every dept. I read some where that she left HAL when they stopped hiring men to dance with guest.

I did not post this thread, but have been following it because I have the same question. Thanks everyone. I have decided on a cab from the ship since neither of us can walk very much. You all have been a great help

We are overnighting pre cruise in Venice. Saturday arrival 2:10 pm. Sunday the ship sails at 9:00 pm. Holland American Eurodam. Does anyone know what time the pre-paid transfer picks you up for the ship? We want to spend as much time as we can touring Venice .
Thanks for all of the information. We plan to walk, walk, walk, gondola and for me wine, wine, wine.

Thanks Keith,
I just read another post that you responded to. I think that I now have enough information . Do both venues

Don't know why, but you video makes me want to sail the Konningdam.

I know that this is an older thread. I don't think that I should start a new one. I hope that someone can help me.
Same thing. Sat & Sun in Venice.
We arrive at 2:30 pm . Our hotel is in the St Mark area, they say a 5 min walk to the square. I am assuming that all museums , Cath, etc will be closing by the time we check in. I get, it take a stroll and dinner and hopefully a gondola ride.
Question. What time do they pick you up to get to the ship? Will I have time for the palace, or museum? The ships sailing time is 9:00 pm
The hotel is Bonvecchiati .
Thanks for any help.

The tour operator provided as packaged lunch. Sandwich, fruit, chips and cookies. The lunch may be different, but similar. No food taken off of the ship that is not packages (chips, cookies, candies etc.).

Fire eater,
I love your post. We are sailing in Oct.2016. We have been to all of the ports previously except, Barcelona, Venice and Monte Carlo. We are so looking forward to these ports..
Antonio Gaudi and his works have been a dream of mine since high school (now 70). Your description of the Sagrada Familia makes me wish I was sailing tomorrow.

Tell me anything about the casino. Sailing in October 2016, and the casino is one of my bucket list items. Does not matter good or bad I am going there. The problem ,I have no idea of time, dress, currency, drinks protocol. Help:

I've only done the Pinnacle twice. The first I wasn't impressed. The second was my birthday, with a couple we met on the cruise. We were not that impressed with the food, but we had a ball. The staff was great. Like most eating, the food is better with good company.

Thanks.
We pack light, and fast. I think we can see what we are interested in that day. My"Other" is a carpenter, so you know what we will be interested in seeing. Really THANKS, this has been a great help in our planning.

We just booked Venice to Barcelona for Oct.2016. Mt question is : since the ship docks at 12:00, will we be able to see some sites ? It is an overnight.
Our plane departs at 12:45 the next day. Can you do anything before transport to the airport? Is there a short tour on way to the airport?
So far all transfers are for flights after 3:00. I was wondering should I get a later flight. Booked all through HAL.

I like a late snack also. I usually take a plate of something to the room and hope that the room steward does not throw it away ( I try to put it in the top draw). I don't like to use room service for a snack either.
I returned from a Carnival cruise Sept.19,2015. Comedy show started at 10:00, and another comedian at 11:00 p.m Band in some places stopped at 1:00 am. The Lido had a crowd at 1:00. I left at about 1:30 so don't know after that.
They has pizza, sweets, hot dogs, deli sandwiches and a few other snacks and drinks. Granted this was a much younger crowd.
Looing forward to my next cruise (10/17/2015) on HAL.

Thanks. I
D I'd not want to be over dressed. That is worst than being underdressed.

Sailing on the Elation Sept. 14. How formal is the dress up night?
-
Ice Cream.
I don't know why ice cream taste better on ship.

I also enjoyed your review. I have not cruised on Carnival for some time. Cruising on the Elation with 11 others in Sept. It is one of those events decided at a club. 8 of us will be 70 this year. August, September and October. We meet every year for the 4th of July. While we were on Frenchman at Mason's ( great music)we decided to cruise for our birthdays. We got amazing prices. 8 turned into 12 and still going. Oh - did I mention that I live in New Orleans. Only 3 classmates have to get here.
There is a parking lot across the street from the pier for $20.00 a night. I can not recommend a hotel because there are soo many . Go to NOLA.com. Plenty of information there.
Sailing on HAL in Oct. Yeah, 2 cruises this year.
-
Yes, cruising Carnival Elation in Sept, than HAL in Oct.

In order to know that people are in line to get into the dinning room you must be there also.
Unfair, unfair. The waiters want you there early so that they can serve you and get the tables clean. If it is early or anytime dinning there are people coming after you. Give the staff a break and get there in a reasonable amount of time or a little early.
-
Thanks all. I have not sailed Carnival in a long time. 12 0f us are sailing. Sept Carnival, Oct HAL. I just love cruising.
-
We all have the same cabin category . No difference in price or insurance. We are just switching cabin mates.
-
Is soap, shampoo, lotion, hair dryers, and shower caps provided in inside cabins.
-
Thanks to all of you. I was concerned.
-
Thanks for the review. I have not cruised Carnival in a long time. Some friends got together and we decided we would cruise together. We will be 70 this year. Sailing on the Elation in Sept. and Holland America in Oct. Now I know what to expect.
"You are on a ship now" ...what do you do differently?

I wash my personals and put them on a hanger in the closet so that the cabin persons don't see them.
