Oh wanted to ask. I know you mentioned that you skipped dessert but is there a place on the ship that has ice cream and milkshakes? Those are my main priorities in life.

I will be on the ship next month with 2 kids. I am sure they will want to go on the dry slide a bunch. Wife and I will probably not go on. Is there an easy way to get to the bottom to meet up with the kids? Same with if they want to ride it again. Is there an easy way to get back to the top?

that 100% work sign made me laugh out loud. I am going to look for one of those for my office. For the Tequila, what is the price difference between there and home?

just read all 30 pages. So much for my doing work around the house this evening. I booked this ship for March and was a little confused on the dining today when I booked. Supposedly we only get $180 for 2 people per meal and was told we could get an app, dinner, and dessert but it doesn't seem like $180 would be enough unless you just getting the least expensive thing.

I meant it was making me sad to see everyone having fun. I was just being jealous that I couldn't be there. Fwiw, I refriended them so I could live vicariously through others. Lol, and you thought you were confused.
-
I actually unfriended lfk from Facebook today because I couldn't deal with people posting pictures.

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately we are back from the trip. Just to update, at Costa Maya we ended up just renting a golf cart and drove around for a few hours. We had soooo much fun at Little French Key that we figured nothing could compare so we just took it easy.
Thank you for the reviews on little french key as that may have been the best day of our lives. I can't even explain how amazing it really was there.

We cruised out of New Orleans on April 5th. We had an inside room on deck 4. The room was small with limited storage. However, the bathroom was large without the dreaded shower curtain. Service was excellent as well as the food in the MDR. Our main complaint was that there was only one main pool. It was very busy and very noisy.
We went out of nola Apr 12. We had 500 less people than you and 300 less under 18s. Pool was never busy at all.

I'd like to see the menus too, but what happened to the sushi bar? Is it still there?
I ate at the sushi bar on Saturday night. I ordered 2 basic rolls and my total was $7.50

On Saturday we were planning on spending our day in NOLA by foot but the weather reports are showing that it may be ugly on Saturday. We are thinking about picking up a rental car at the airport and then returning it before the cruise in the FQ. It is only $18 so it is actually cheaper than a taxi anyways, other than paying for parking.
My question is, if we decide to rent a car then we will need to return it before 11am. Our boarding time is 12 and it says not to arrive more than an hour before. Can I drive by around 10:20 and drop off our luggage at that time? I could return the car and get a taxi but if I can drop off the luggage it would be easier than lugging all of our bags.
BTW, can someone call my wife and tell her we are only going away for 8 days and not 4 months.
-
The French Quarter is compact enough that you can see all of it best by walking. Parking is difficult and costly.
Many plantation tours pick you up at your hotel so there is little advantage to renting a car for what you want to do.
I did see that they would pick you up but our problem seems to be that they all pick up around 12 and our flight doesn't land until 11. There is a good chance we wouldn't make one of the shuttles.

We are coming in on Saturday morning. Originally we were going to take a cab to the hotel on Magazine st near the FQ and then just hang out in the FQ all day. My wife mentioned that she wanted to go to a plantation as well. I was looking at car rentals and I can get a car for $18 with pick up at the airport and drop off the next morning on Canal street. I would have to pay for parking at the hotel so it would cost us about $30 more to have a car all day instead of cabs and walking.
I guess I am wondering how hard it is to navigate throughout NOLA and the FQ with a car? I am not sure if it would still be easier to park at the hotel and just walk the FQ. We are planning on doing the touristy stuff like Cafe du monde and the likes.
Thoughts on having a car vs no car are appreciated. FWIW, I live in a city and have been making long road trips all our lives so I am not to worried about the drive, but if we are going to just have the car parked all day then it doesn't seem worth it.

I was "Lucky" on my last cruise and the casino host comped me dinner for 2 and wine. I guess. because I was in the casino a lot. I don't know I can't figure out the CAS stuff at all lol
When you were comped, did you go looking for a host and ask or did they tap you on the shoulder and just offer it?

If it's raining while you are on an open deck NCL will provide you with an umbrella and charge you $10.00 for your convenience.:)
Bill
This gave me a chuckle.
Thanks all, we are still a week out so hopefully it will change. We will probably be more bummed about it raining on Saturday and making it difficult to navigate NOLA by foot.

Been excited about our first cruise for quite awhile now. We are flying into NOLA Saturday morning to spend the day there as well. Early weather reporta are showing a 80% chance of Thunder storms for the entire weekend. Like the saying, I would have no luck at all it it weren't for bad luck.
So I guess I am wondering what things will be different if there are bad storms on Sunday when we depart. I assume the ship will depart even in storms? I guess fog could be an issue? If fog were an issue, do we basically just party on the ship as normal but still in port?
I have never been on a ship so I am not sure how many activities really get messed up or is basically everything inside unless you are at the pool?

So how hard is it to get it removed? Do you just go to the desk and tell them to remove it or is it like a time share thing where they won't let you until you tell them 20 times?
-
As distasteful as this change may be, I wouldn't get too hard on the NCL staff over the phone. It was never their decision to do this and they are given absolutely no leeway to maneuver. Man, I would hate to be in their shoes to get yelled at right now.
I disagree with this statement. I would personally tell them exactly how I feel. I would also remove the service charge. If the company is going to try to take it out of our pocket then I am taking it out of the employees pockets. When they have employees complaining and customers then they will get the point. -
Just got done with guest services onboard. They say it is only on breakaway and getaway and started yesterday. They logged my complaint and when I told them I would never sail ncl again as with a little child we rely on room service for several meals, the response was "all I can do is log your complaint".
You should have said, them in order to stay within my planned budget I demand the service charge be removed from our bill.

I wish I could direct message on this website but I can not so I am posting this here. Mitsugirly, I read your reviews of the 4 spots listed below in Costa Maya but I am not sure which one is best for us. Any guidance would be appreciated.
COSTA MAYA: Almaplena Maya Chan Nohoch Kay Blue Kay
This is our first cruise so we are not sure what to expect. We will be in Costa Maya from 8-4pm. I would actually love to do the ATV tour but I don't want to spend $250 for 2 of us to do it.
We will be in Roatan the day before and plan on going to the Little French Key.
As for this port we don't plan on snorkeling. I will go into the water a little bit but not very much. Basically we want to sit on the beach for a little but having other activities near by would be a plus as well. I am not sure if any of them offer water sport activities like jet skies?
This is such a hard decision for me because I am afraid that I am going to be bored. My idea of relaxing is not to relax and keep busy. If I go to a beach area where there is nothing to do I am afraid that I will want to head back to the ship early. However, my wife could lay on the beach until midnight.
A place that has WIFI is going to be important as well so we can call home and talk to the kids.
Thanks for anyones help. Only 13 days to go.

Very nice pics. We leave on the Dawn in 14 days. We do not have a balcony. where is a good spot to sit and enjoy the sunrise outside?
-
We will be on the dawn in 3 weeks. We have priority disembarkation through CAS. How quickly can we get off the ship. We need to pick up a rental car ASAP and drive to Birmingham for our flight home.
-
I hope you have a wonderful trip where all are you going?
Thank you, we can not wait. It will be our first vacation in 5 years since our honeymoon. We are going on the Dawn April 12 to western carib

Watch those data charges may come back with a phone bill higher than a Morgage payment. It's peacefully just to cut your phone off and not have to worry about emails Facebook Or anything but when we cruised before we didn't have any children yet..
We checked with t-mobile. Apparantly there is no such thing as roaming with them anymore. We have worldwide coverage with data and Texting. There are some fees for voice if you are not using WiFi calling.
I wish I could just turn everything off but I can't get myself to do it. The way I look at it, the world keeps spinning without me so when I get back I would have to get caught up on things, I would rather just know about them when they happen.
Luckily I live a pretty stress free life and always stay out of drama so really there is nothing that I need to get away from.

Going on first cruise next month. The no phone thing is what has me terrified the most. Luckily we have t-mobile and t-mobile has coverage in Mexico which is 2 of our ports.

Is it an easy way, like the elevator is near by or is it an ordeal to get there.
