I've read the few posts on the 2 ports but would really like more info about both...contemplating a cruise that hits both of them & trying to decide if they should be on our 'must-see' list or should we should stay on the boat..... TIA.
Which cruise line? We’ve been to both....meh

Wondering if anyone has spent the day at Holland House and reserved chairs/umbrellas? Is the beach good for swimming? Is it kid friendly ( 8 & 11)? Is it close to shopping? Showers available? Thank you!!!
Yes, yes and yes! We were just there in Feb.

Just for Clarification, The Butlers are NOT included in the tip pool in the Yacht Club. We always tip a minimum regardless of whether we use his services or not. We generally do not ask him to do a thing. We also find that there are one or two other butlers that end up giving you excellent personalized service both at the Top Sail One and The One Deck. We also tip them at the end of our cruise. We also tip the Dining Room server extra just because they offer incredible service.
Also, we have done the Haven several times and while we love it the service doesnt even begin to compare to what you will experience in the YC. Bon Voyage!
Couldn’t agree with you more!!!

WOW!! This is how we start a cruise that hasn’t even begun. Shorts are not allowed. If anyone wants to push this rule they may or may not have to deal with the consequences.
I’m just happy to leave our miserable weather behind and not have to wear my heavy winter coat [emoji6]

Just heard on the radio this morning that the Canadian Govt has put out a travel advisory for Jamaica due the high level of violence. We are scheduled to be in port in Ocho Rios on February 15th. We've never been to Jamaica before and are quite looking forward to it. We always find our own activities and excursions independent from the cruise line, but are quite concerned now about our safety in this port. Any advise?
This is in regards to Montego Bay.

Why do people think that because they wore shorts in the dining room on a Carnival or Norwegian ship, that it'll be OK on MSC?
Probably because they think they are all in category of ships.

So, it's probably been ten years since I've been on MSC. Leaving on the 25th in YC Divina; we are converts from NCL Haven.
I've been reading about the dress code for LeMuse. Are shorts acceptable on non formal evenings? We live in a resort area and my husband is in linen shorts and alligator loafers most of the time. That's why we enjoy NCL so much.
Just trying to determine how many pairs of long pants to pack for him.
We are in the same boat as you! Literally!! Always loved the Haven until our last cruise and we will also be in the YC on the 25th!

We stayed in the Owners Suite and saw our butler twice. Would you like to guess how much we tipped him?

Tip your cabin steward (extra) if they do a great job. Tip bartenders and waiters (even if you have a UBP) if they are doing a good job. If you have a Butler or Concierge, they are not included in the Daily Service Charge and need to be tipped separately.
Unless you never see your butler, all he did was drop off afternoon snacks and a Concierge that you didn’t speak to.

I'm on the Breakaway and my bid was accepted. So my question is, what is great about the Haven? I know as a person who was upgraded you keep the perks you originally had, but what do you get in the Haven that sets it apart? Thank you!!!
What is the date of your cruise?

Absolutely not. Do not remove your DSC. It supports all of the staff that work up front and behind the scenes to make your cruise memorable.
As a Havens guest, you are expected to tip the concierge and butler. Suggestion $10-$15 per person in the cabin per days of cruise. $5-$10 per person in the cabin per day of cruise for the concierge. And an extra $5-$10 per person per day for the room steward for your extra large room.
That’s ridiculous!

I would have cancelled as well. Sadly, none of these locations are going to look like paradise in the short term. Unless you have visited these locations before, you don't want your impressions of these beautiful islands to be a horrible one. :(
Very well said!

Zaandam, January 31st, 21days South America & Antarctic!!
-
I got the same "large group" spiel when I booked 11 months in advance. Turns out the largest group had about 100 people and they didn't eat together! If you can't get it fixed in advance, try to do so when you board. It only took me about 30 seconds to get what I wanted.
Who and where did you go to speak with?
-
Thank you! However I don't think a whole group of knitters would amount to the whole early dining!

We recently booked Jan 31, 21 day South America & Antarctica cruise. We always book early seating for two. This time there is no early seating available due to a large group on board. Does anyone know what group this is?
Thank you!

Thank you VideoTech! We have always tipped above and beyond whatever service charges that are added and definitely for room service. We just weren't sure if there was a service charge.
I truly appreciate the info that you have provided!
Thank you!

This will be our first cruise on NCL! We are diehard HAL cruisers, however thought we'd try something new especially since this cruise coincides with my birthday. Just a couple of questions....we have booked the Haven Penthouse Courtyard. Does NCL do upsells and if so when? Also is there a charge for room service?
Any info or tips would be greatly appreciated!:)

If you don't mind - I have one more question - was there a B. B. King group on board doing nightly shows?
Yes! 3 shows per night. 9, 10 and 11 pm.
-
Thanks. It will be interesting to find out - maybe that's part of the big announcement tomorrow.;)
Where did you hear that there was going to be a big announcement?
