  1. I so agree with the posters above.  The train from Waterloo was fun and reasonable (I think $12/person last year).  We stayed at the Holiday Inn right across from the the cruise port.  You can just grab you luggage and walk across the street to the ship.  From the Holiday Inn there is a nice river walk and WWII sites plus some nice pubs.  We enjoyed Southampton.

  2. Beware if you add a drink package (Silver Spirits).  We added the package and went to the bar directly after being told we were all set for a drink was charged $20.50 than a second drink $20.50.  Evidently the package was not added for 1.5 hours after were talked to gest services thus they refuse to remove the charges for any drinks prior to the starting to of the Silver Spirits. Really!!!  We are currently on Orion from Bali to Hong Kong.

  3. We also enjoy the promenade deck for quietness away from the pool, less wind and shade.  We are just off Reflection where there were chairs with pads outside the cafe on 5.  They were ok for comfort but it would have been nice to have some loungers too.  Depending on the time of day the chairs filled.

  4. Viking routed us through Istanbul last Aug on our way to Basil.  I requested a wheelchair assist from the airline prior to departing Chicago.  Their wheelchairs were mounted on what looked like a Segway that zoomed me around so fast that it was my husband who was doing the galloping behind!  We did not leave the airport so I can't comment on the transfer.

  5. We have used them at least 10 times.  I always call to complete a booking.  Our biggest issue is they won't let you use airline miles or vouchers to pay for flight.   Due to a light out in an airplane bathroom we missed a connecting flight and ultimately missed the ship with the first 2 days at sea.  FBC made all arrangements and paid for us us to stay in a resort on Grand Cayman until our ship arrived.

  6. I tried to see if someone has asked this question before with no luck.  Once on board we will receive $1050 OBC from our travel agent.  We would like to pre-pay for gratuities  and Silver Spirts, $1400 total before we go.  My question is will Viking apply the $1050 to the already paid balance and refund or money once we are on board? We would pay with an echeck thus saving the service charge for credit card.  Thanks

  7. During our September cruise from Southampton to Ireland/Iceland/ Channel Islands we were informed mid-cruise that 1 of 3 days in Iceland, Ireland and the Channel Islands would be taken off our cruise due to weather and replaced with sea days.   There was no mention of OBC or refund.  They eventually were able to return our Iceland (no over night) and Ireland (shorter stay).  We were not offered any compensation except refunds on excursions, but were thankful for a wonderful and safe cruise.  We never gave thought to more compensation.

  8. It has been 3 days since we moved $300 from our Celebrity Credit Card points to our Feb. reservation.  The points immediately were zapped from the credit card but have yet to appear on the reservation.  We had hoped to purchase excursions with the OBC during the 50% off sale.  Does anyone know how long it takes the OBC to be posted on the reservation so it can be used?  Is the OBC only available once on ship?  Thanks for your replies.

  9. Since we need to fly from cold weather to warm weather cruising I would go for the longer cruise as both ships are wonderful.  We have sailed both ships many times and also E class and would sail all of them again.  Bottom line for the price difference longer is better for us.

  10. The hump is one of our favorite places.  Close to the elevators, a bit bigger, and can pull your chairs in or out of the sun depending what you want.  We prefer the hump cabins at the beginning of the hump as the balconies are larger but not too large that you are way back. We felt the cabins right next to the "bump out" had balconies a bit too tunnel like (long & narrow) and you really had to move forward to see out.

  11. People arriving whenever they want  and expeting to cut line is just another sign of our  "ME Society".  Do what is convenient  for you and don't worry how it could inconvenience someone else.  The rules are for others and not for you.  I understand that if you have a later checkin time and an early flight you may not want to hang around the airport a few hours, but find something else to do or sit and wait until it's your time or the line is gone.  Assigned times are for reason.  Respect the time and respect the other passengers.

  12. We booked with FBC  Sept 23 for our cruise Feb 11, 2024.  At the time of booking the flights we had to pay for the flights.  We were told Southwest requires payment upfront and that final crise payment doesn't work for Southwest.  Two days later Southwest had a sale and our flights were half price.  I called FBC to make adjustments.  NO WAY they said since the flights were paid for.  I called Southwest 5 minutes later the adjustments were made and I have credit for our next trip.  Thank You FBC.

We have used them 8 or 9 times with no problems and they were a great help when we missed a sailing due to flight delays.
