  1. Another option that might work is a sweater vest over a button down shirt. At night, it's not too warm, especially indoors. Bowties are a good choice, too. Will he wear a hat? Because a fedora is adorable on a baby. :)

Good idea! We do have a nice sweater vest for him! No hat however, He has 5 cute hats for 12-24M but refused to wear any of them!

  2. Here's mine, from our July 20 Alaskan cruise on the Grand.

Thank you for recording such gourmet food pix and sharing them!

Question: are we going to get the same level of food if we are on a five day CB cruise? Since more and more review says CB is below average on Princess lines compare with other ships.

  3. The recent rash of Chocolate Porn from Princess has a lot of people drooling. I was amazed to see that it is going to be offered in MDR. I figured Princess would be making it an upcharge item but it seems it is going to be included.

Drooling! Are those chocolate dessert offered in the MDR? Do we need to pay extra for them! They look darn good!!!

  4. I weigh in every Monday morning and the verdict is in. Turns out I gained just 1 pound last week. I guess the fruit for dessert, lots of walking and swimming, never using the elevators, and asking for extra servings of green vegetables worked to counter the extra food, wine, and drinks I consumed.

Lol! Good job! We'll copycat that!

  5. We will be on CB over Christmas. We are planning to use the MDR for our dinners. It will be easy to dress DD who will be four. We are planning to bring her dresses from Janie and Jack. Hope that's good enough. What I'm not sure is about my DS who will be 18 months old. Apparently he will not wear a formal outfit. I'm worried a t shirt will be too informal. What about a polo shirt for him? Will that be good enough? Please us us know what do people normally do. Thanks.

  6. Yes on the beer, and yes on wine in a glass.

Wine in a bottle then you get into the corkage fee.

Thank you! So beer in cans or bottles are both ok? What about wine in plastic bags? Do not remember what's that called but I know we have the wine in the bags with a switch on sold in local liquor store.

  7. We will cruise with our 4 yr old daughter and 18 month old son this December. Our friends had cruised several times with their little ones and they always had a good time. Of course we will spend more time in the cabin than other passengers but I think that's ok. We'll just get room service whenever we want and take a break at the balcony when we have to. We will pack enough pouch and diapers and wipes.

  8. On the "older ships", the machines take either quarters or casino 25 cent tokens. They can be used interchangeably.

BTW, someone posted that there are laundry facilities on all decks with passenger cabins ...... not so! Passengers in Lido deck cabins have to go to a lower deck to do their laundry. I have often used the ones on Caribe deck because they are located more forward than the ones on Aloha and Baja decks.

    Great to know! Thank you!

  9. The siblings did not show up for afternoon trivia, so we played with our former competitors whose teammates did not show up either. It was a hard multiple choice trivia. We ended up with 9 points out of 20. Two teams tied with 13 apiece. The cruise director’s staff has been terrific. We particularly liked Ian, Susan, Harry, Bianca, and another American guy whose name I don’t remember.

We drank our bottle of champagne at the event in Skywalkers. I took the flowers from our balcony dinner to the couple from our rollcall. It turned out they are not staying for the next cruise, so I ended up giving them to a woman we saw at the champagne ring toss events who was. She was thrilled to get them. I think they should last a few more days, and some of the flowers could last all week if she picks out the faded ones.

Our friends who are the most traveled passengers came up for cocktails. It was great to see the one last time on this cruise. I’m certain we will run into them again, although the wife said she wasn’t planning on taking a cruise at New Year’s, which is our next possible time for us with DH’s school vacations.

We missed Landon Swank’s show. We had seen him in March on the Ruby Princess. Our tablemates said he was good. Everyone showed up at our table for dinner for the first time since Monday night. I tried the New York strip steak since I did not want the fish in a curry sauce. I should have ordered the always available salmon. My strip steak was overdone. At least they now serve decent potatoes with it instead of the french fries that used to come with it.

Our waiters surprised us with two anniversary cakes—one apiece. The baked Alaska parade was less tedious than usual. Our assistant waiter did not look very happy. He was very efficient, but a little bit reserved.

The CB has just arrived in Fort Lauderdale. We are carrying off our bags and still need to pack them. The Oasis of the Seas and Vision of the Seas have also arrived. I’m expecting the Carnival Liberty to be here soon.

Overall we had a great time. I noticed some things that need repair throughout the ship. Yesterday, in particular, it seemed hot in some interior spaces. The controls in our room worked very well. I’d lower the temperature during the day and raise it to sleep at night. I don’t like to sleep in a cold room. Everything in our bathroom worked fine. There are workers painting and varnishing, polishing, shampooing carpets, etc. all day long trying to keep the ship in good shape. Fortunately everyone we talked to was having a good time as well.

Great weeklong post! Thank you for sharing! Hope to read your next cruise live post again soon! :)

  10. Did anyone give feedback regarding how Sabatini’s food was on this cruise ? We have been reading fair reviews on the food there & was wondering if the quality was better. We have read that the Crown Grill was much better. Don't remember if it was mentioned in your live report about Sabatini’s .We will be on Caribbean Princess tomorrow :D:D.

    How exciting!

Hope to read live report from you too!

  11. First two cruises were on NCL with a balcony each time. Will cruise RCCL Allure for 1st time at end of this month with a hump balcony - hoping for the same balcony experience! It means fewer cruises but a balcony has become a must for us....

    All from our balcony:

Alaska: Glaciers, whales, bears, sunrise, sunset, hot chocolate, the cold, the warmth, the rush of the sea, the quiet of the sea, entering and leaving ports with just awesome views, chatting with our balcony neighbors.

Western Med: sunrise, sunset, amazing beautiful ports, passing ship lights in the night, starry, starry nights, the quiet of the sea, waking up and falling asleep to the sound of the sea, breakfast on the balcony, a place for quiet reflection and conversation after a busy port day.

Most beautiful post! I got goosebumps by reading it! So romantic! Looking forward for our cruise trip! Thank you!

  12. We had two littles who still needed the occasional nap or earlier bedtime, so we spent a lot of time on the balcony just enjoying the peace & quiet, read, kept them happy & quiet with breakfast/snacks while others were getting ready, etc.

We did have four older girls also sailing with us & they were happy with an interior since they spent most of their time in the kids or teen clubs. If they wanted to hang on a balcony, they just came across the hall :).

We have downgraded for our upcoming cruise since it's a go cheap or don't go deal, but I'm still holding out hope for an awesome price drop so I can upgrade!

Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

We'll travel with two little ones in Dec. 1 and 4. Hope to get more advice from you! We booked our balcony too just in case we'll have to spend some nothing to do time while they take naps!

  13. All Princess ships have passenger laundry rooms on the decks that have cabins.

We bring our own laundry detergent and fabric sheets as well as quarters.

There are vending machines for these things in the laundry rooms, but sometimes they are empty.

You can also get quarters from the Passenger Services Desk.

Sometimes, you have to run a dryer twice to get the clothes dry.

There are also irons and ironing boards available in the laundry rooms.

This is a "perk" that Princess offers to passengers that other cruise lines do not.

Great! Thank you! Indeed, it's wonderful that I will be able to do laundry on the cruise. Of course not because I'm a super fan of laundry lol!

  14. Deck 6 at atrium on Emerald Princess.

We usually did not have to wait that long. Just that evening a whole bunch of passengers decided they wanted to eat at the same time we did.

That's what anytime is about. Show up when you want to.

It will be a disaster if we let the two kids wait for that long when they are hungry. I will stick with the traditional plan for now. Thank you! Btw, do you know if the traditional plan is only for dinner or all three meals every day?

  15. One last relaxing day at sea today before our cruise ends tomorrow. It has been a great one.

Our cabin is in the perfect location, forward of the stairs closest to the bow. We love the extra large balcony space. Even the room service waiter who set up our balcony dinner commented about how much nicer it is for them on the Caribe Deck than the other decks.

We ate breakfast in the dining room this morning and will go back for lunch this afternoon. They’re also having the pub lunch again today in the Crown Grill. We’ve eaten that a few times on other ships. It’s a nice alternative and something good to try at least once. I keep saying that one cruise we may try anytime dining again and go all out by going to Sabatini’s, the Crown Grill, the Crab Shack, and even eating in Café Caribe for some of the specialty nights. Last night’s German night food looked tempting in the Horizon Court.

We placed second this morning in trivia with 16 out of 20 possible points. The winning team included the people we had breakfast with. She was eager to win a water bottle. They had 17 points. If they had not won, we could have given her our extra water bottles.

It’s time to start thinking about packing. It’s going to be nice to have some clean clothes to pack instead of all dirty ones. I think I’ll really enjoy the Elite laundry benefit when we can take longer cruises. Our goal was to reach Elite before retirement, so we made it a couple of years early. We’ll go to the free wine tasting this afternoon as well for the first time. I think we’ll carry our bottle of champagne up to the Skywalkers event this evening. We also have a bottle of wine that we’re paying the corkage fee on to drink tonight at dinner. We can pack the leftover mini bottles from our mini bar. I’ll find someone who’s staying next week to give the Sprite Zeroes to and maybe the remaining beer if I don’t drink it this afternoon. The other one was great with a slice of pizza.

Oh I did not know there's laundry room on the ship! How much to do a load?
