  1. I have to say on Enchantment of the Seas it became very frustrating.... If you were on a certain deck (I'd have to pull up the plans but either 5 or 6) and wanted to go from dining to a show, you HAD to pass through the casino or change floors, cross the ship to the other stair case, and change floors again. Anyway, the casino was right in the middle of the floor. Often times young kids were passing through to go to the theatre. Me and my husband are nonsmokers and it got pretty aggravating. Not to mention the smoke was definitely wafting out of the casino into other areas, not like it has doors lol

I was kind of thinking, it would have made sense to put the casino at the end of the ship or even in an area by itself like the fitness center and lounges if the smoking is that bad there and it can be a health hazard to others. Of course that would make it less traveled and maybe less used?

I'd hate to be someone with a disability who couldn't be around smoke and had to take the elavator one floor to cross the ship and take the elevator back, doh.

  2.

It's truly amazing what we can teach our dogs and what they're capable of doing. Through all of Horton's "bad boy drama", he does his job so well. He is my hero and makes my life so much better. I'm so grateful that he's with me!

Your dog sounds like he is serving a purpose and making a difference in other's lives. It's so neat to watch, isn't it? ♥

Rem is a bad boy sometimes (at home)! Trust me... But you put his lead on and walk him into a public place or social setting and he is a completely different dog. Every command is on point, manners are impeccable. He sits for anyone and is calm no matter what a going on, just an angel. It's like he knows when it's time to be a puppy (he's still got a lot of pup in him) VS when it's time to go to work.

I miss him when I am gone and he's the reason I don't think I could ever cruise over 7 nights, if I can make it that long. He really is more than a pet to me, he's my business partner. He touches people when my methods aren't working. He is pretty amazing!

  3. I loved reading this thread! I have a golden retriever who comes from a line of service/therapy dogs. His relatives have been donated for years for therapy and service work. I got him for therapy work in my field, but now that he is trained with that we've also been doing nose work, which he loves. I've often considered training him as a diabetic alert dog, we have a local trainer who does this with German Shepherds. While I do not need him personally (I do suffer from Hypoglycemia which is controlled by diet but I am not diabetic and definitely not insulin dependent or dosabled) I think it is something he would enjoy learning and there are many individuals in my family who are diabetic.

Seeing as I do not have a disability that impairs my daily life, I'd never have a need to take him on a cruise, but I do enjoy him being all that he can be and love seeing him learn new things. It is neat reading everyone's stories and seeing how service dogs really change lives! It makes me look at my boy with new eyes because I really feel he could have easily been a name dropped in this thread, by someone's side who needed him. But he does change lives in his own way every day that he meets those with mental health disorders and disabilities through my work (:

  4. I wanted to chime in since I was a server for 6 years while going to college... Here (USA, GA) we make $2.13 an hour. Most places have gotten rid of gratuity even for large parties. There were days where I had to go to work knowing my mom was in the hospital or I just failed a huge paper, etc etc. Those days I may have been a little slack or forgetful during working. I had plenty of regulars and I was good at my job, but I did have off days where I'm sure I messed up.

The one thing I never did, EVER was be rude to my customer. So therefore when I consider others who may only make $2-4 an hour..... I give them the benefit of the doubt and tip anyway even for mediocre service, now if they're rude then that is what I do not forgive.

As far as the perk of free drinks.... We would have free appetizer and drink nights at our restaurant, even free fight nights for UFC.... Wow! Talk about BUSTING your bottom for a good 2-4 hours waiting on the SAME people and then them only leave $5 because they felt like since it was only 4 people that's ok. So I just made $2.13 an hour and then $2.50 an hour still not minimum wage. Just because the restaurant offered them that perk, I was not being paid more for it. I ended up coming out on the bottom 75% of the time in those cases. Same with RCI.... So consider the servers and bartenders as individuals who have families to care for, and who work long hours I assume. For me serving was frequently 13 hour shifts!

So yes, not tipping may be a personal choice that isn't "wrong" but in that case neither is burning that persons home down or stealing the food from their table if that is the way you see it..... They are living, breathing, working human beings who need that money to survive. $1 is much less than the $8 you pay for a drink still (: or if you don't wanna tip, I'd consider rallying for royal to pay their BT and servers a set amount on top of their hourly pay per free coupon they take in (; and good luck with that one...

  5. I think it could pay off financially, I love wine with dinner and that is $9 a glass almost, I love coffee drinks $5-7 before breakfast and mimosas after. I don't drink sodas but I love juice which is $4-5 and drink cocktails $8-9 in the evenings.

But as I thought on it more, I am the only drinker within my family but never fails whoever I am with will always taste test a sip of 1 or 2 of my drinks during the day (my mom can't actually drink because she has blood sugar problems and husband just never has cared for it, not even coffee, he always orders a drink then after 1 or 2 sips it is handed to me or left somewhere). I've never used the package so it wasn't a big deal when someone would take a little sip to try a drink they'd never heard of. I think buying the package, I'd have to constantly stay alert to not allowing that to happen and it may just cause more stress than it is worth anyway. That would be embarassing.

  6. I have searched and googled and if this has been answered I'm sorry but I never found out. I even called Royal and the guy couldn't tell me (after 15min I got tired of waiting on his computer system).

I am considering the ultimate package on my upcoming Enchantment cruise. As far as the premium coffee and tea... Where would I get those from? Is there only certain venues or can it be any restaurant(windjammer also?)? Can I get them delivered via room service?

I was also wondering if I could get a mimosa delivered via room service? Or only in the MDR and bars?

I don't see it being worth it if I have to go to a specific place to get the premium coffee or tea, but if I can order it at any restaurant or room service then I think it may be a great idea!

  7. No, the on board cruise bookings have to be original bookings. You would have to cancel the cruise(s) you have booked and then rebook onboard. You would have to see if the OBC you receive for booking onboard would be worth it. The main advantage to booking onboard is an OBC, depending on the length of the cruise and a reduced deposit. You still have to pay the balance at some point and there is no price advantage to booking onboard. I booked onboard and the LA automatically transfers my booking to my TA who usually gives me a discount.

Do I hear another reason to book yet another cruise while I am on board..... oh Lord, help me....

  8. Me, too.:D

I have the addiction bad and went a little crazy during the BOGOHO sale while we were on the Jewel for two weeks. Great prices and a $200 deposit for the two of us! Can't lose, right? Well, I found myself with two 7 night and two 14 & 15 night cruises booked. I did forget about a little thing called vacation time. Plus, DH reminded me none too gently that if I want to do the Med in a couple of years as promised to my family we would have to do some penny pinching, not to mention the things we want to do to the house over the next year. So, I had to swallow deep and cancel one short and one long cruise.:( It kind of sucks to be grown up.

    Heyyyy,

Maybe you will have an idea... I put a deposit down on a cruise in 2015 already.... If I go on a cruise next week randomly, there is no way I could book the same cruise on board with the perks and then move my previous deposit to it is there.....

The one in 2015 was booked through a TA....

  9. You were on my Enchantment roll call... That is all I have been talking about. We are thinking of booking in 2015 as well. I wasn't addicted to cruising with Carnival but I am with Royal...I fell ya ;)

  10. I,too, have no control. I've been booked on the Serenade for Dec,2015. I soon felt that I couldn't wait that long, so I'm booked on the Enchantment in May,2015, which will leave only 7 months before Dec.I can live with that. Couldn't do one this year due to other plans.

Yes I tried that!! I tried for May as a middle ground, just too expensive for us to do it plus Freedom... So it couldn't be done.... but one next weekend could be hehe
