My Sept cruise just switched Monterey for Catalina

Lucky! Ours changed to 2 nights in San Francisco. I really wish they had substituted Catalina. I don't understand why Princess doesn't port there was much as they did 10 years ago.

Thanks for the pictures!  Thought I'd see Princess in your signature, after the remark about the plain white hulls...  Actually most ships are liveried similar to ACL; Princess and NCL are the exceptions.

I actually much preferred the Princess livery when it was plain white!! I miss that!

  3. Thought I'd share some pictures of our chase of the American Jazz around the delta the last couple weeks! Hoping to chase it this week between Sacramento and Rio Vista.

My kids have loved seeing a cruise ship so close to home, although it's been mentioned several times that the ship needs something more on for it's livery - my 7 year old has asked a couple times why the American Cruise Lines flag logo isn't on the hull!

Not aimed at you, but I really get tired with Princess calling major system faults, bugs, and data corruption as glitches.  Seems to me an attempt to minimize.

Reminds me of an IT project I was on a long time ago where project issues were termed opportunities.

Exactly - Princess not being able to have secure information consistently appear in the app is very concerning.

Well I had an update on the Princess app today and now it won't open!   I get a blue screen with the Princess logo and it just sits there locked up.   Anyone else?

Same here! Cleared cache, etc. Let's you log back in but then freezes again and next time you open it, back to the Princess logo splash screen. We sail in 4 days. Ugh!

  6. Would be good news, but Emerald's are back in my Personalizer today ...as buy-the-minute. :')

Yes, that's why I called! I thought they'd come back as the new plans... they said they are trying to add them. Hopefully they show up soon, but he said it's possible those options wouldn't be available until onboard. But hey, at the end of the day - as long as I can use those plans, that's great!

I used it on the Golden last month and it was great! (slow, but great!) Such an improvement!

  7. Going on the Grand next week and am eligible for the free minutes. Were you able to upgrade to the unlimited when you signed up on your device, or did you have to go to the internet desk?

I signed up for the mid tier plan in the personalizer and paid for it, but now I am wondering if I jumped the gun and should cancel and wait until I get onboard and see what the upgrade to unlimited price is?

    Thanks for your advice.

It looked like it was the same cost onboard! I should be able to cancel and purchased again but I am not sure about upgrading. I suspect that wouldn't be an issue in person with the Internet Manager!

  8. I'd rather it be unclear before boarding than not offered at all ;p Did you encounter any issue with using too much data while staying logged in all day? Thank you for the information, this is very helpful!
No, I was fine! I was able to upload pictures, check social media a bit, read some articles, and stay connected to email (I have my own business so unfortunately can't completely unplug) just fine! I was happy with the service especially for the price. The loyalty benefit still exists - you either use your free minutes like before or get a discount on one of the packages!

  9. I just got off the Grand last week and had the Premium package. While things were unclear before boarding, it turns out the package is for 500 MB per day of high speed data, and then unlimited throttled back data after that. You can be logged into one device at at time under the plan, and do not need to log out when finished - just let us run and you have internet all day. While it was very slow, it did work out quite well for me.

  10. We arrived on the Grand Princess in Skagway on May 21st and Steve Hites did his performance for us in the Explorer's Lounge before sailing. It was a fantastic show, and I ended up purchasing his CD, which has been very enjoyable to listen to since arriving home! I hope to get to see him perform again next time we are in Alaska!

  11. Hi,

While I've been on quite a few Princess Cruises, our upcoming cruise is longer than most we have taken. I have my own business, and reply on TeamViewer to remotely connect to client computers when they have system emergencies. While my intention is to disconnect while onboard, there will certainly be a few occasions when I'll need to escape to our cabin to save a client :)

Does TeamViewer work on Princess Cruises WiFi? I don't remember it being blocked in the past, but things are always changing... For this upcoming cruise, I purchased the "PrincessCONNECT - Premium" plan for unlimited usage on one device...

    PrincessCONNECT — Premium Package

From e-mail to streaming, enjoy truly premium, unlimited access!

    Original price: $179.99 USD

All Internet usage subject to Princess Cruises' standard policies, which may limit browsing of sites due to network security and bandwidth usage. Applications that use high bandwidth may be blocked and offerings subject to change.

Any insight, or testing by someone onboard(!!) would be much appreciated!

    Thank you!

    Jarrod

  12. A lack of US CBP personnel is the reason being speculated on the other thread.

Last Saturday & today delays are being reported of about 4 hours.

Interesting! We got off the Ruby last Saturday. It was the smoothest disembarkation we've ever done. In fact the ship was ahead of schedule with disembarkation by about 20 minutes.

  13. Just off the Ruby this last Saturday. I found the ship to be warm in many areas compared to the other ships I've been on. The AC in the stateroom barely worked and when I put my hand to the vent, hardly any air was moving ... I'm not sure if that's a pattern on this ship, or just my experience! Who knows ;)
