  1. If these Ports let in anybody, they might as well open to all since Officials say it can be contagious from people not showing any symptoms.   They are fooling themselves.

The hysteria from this Virus is worse then the virus itself.  80 percent of those with it show symptoms similar to a cold.  So many of these are not seeing a Doctor so not counted in Case numbers.  The regular Flu has killed almost 20,000 people in the US this season, and hospitalized 280,000.

With the cleaning protocols the Ships ( Royal Caribbean and Celebrity at least) have put in place, it may be safer on board then in normal times.   Just be diligent in washing your hands, using hand sanitizer, and avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth without cleaning your hands.

We leave Monday for the Southern Caribbean,  if we miss some stops, oh well.

  2. While you will be disembarking in Vancouver, a lot of passengers will be disembarking six days earlier, in Los Angeles (San Pedro). And that means transporting passengers between two different US Ports, which means the PVSA is triggered which means the ship must stop at a defined distant foreign port which in this case means a stop in Aruba. So, it's a government requirement sort of thing.:)

If same Itinerary we took in 2015, Ship stops also in Cartagena, West side of Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Cabo, so Issue with PVSA has no bearing.

  3. Cruise Critic sells a nice one with a ring on it. It also detaches so is only a shorter fob with the ring. You go to Pursers and have them punch a hole in it. I do not wear it around my neck, but loop it around a belt and put end in my pocket. Detach it easily to pay for drinks or whatever and rest of hanging lanyard helps to remind you to get it back.

Lanyards with plastic holders can be a real pain to take it out. Do not carry a wallet except off the Ship. Wife attaches hers to her pool or beach bag so is handy and secure.

  4. Has microwave and frig as well as wetbar in outer area.

Boatyard is great but plan on about $125 for dinner for two.

Good Sushi place across the street, good Thai place down the street, two Mexican restaurants, bunch of fast food. Irish pub across the street and many other options.

Good Sports Bar - Duffy's right behind toward Publix.

Restaurant in house ok too, more than just pub grub.

Will be there again in March.

  5. And the bathroom is between the two sleeping areas on the living room side of the door so if someone in the bedroom needs to use it in the middle of the night they need to enter the living room area.

Most rooms at FLL location have the bathroom in the Bedroom area.

Stay there all the time including five nights ( 3 prior and 2 post cruise last month.

Like their pool area, free full breakfast, free drinks from 5:30-7:30 every night and close to lots of restaurants, Publix, and Total Wine.

Is doable, would not want to though. We did a three day 16 years ago in an IS with our teenage (16) year old daughters. Took some scheduling but we managed. Do it again - no way!

Your sons are in their 20's, are they going to want to be on your sleep schedule?

  7. No way I would try that schedule.

Option if you can spare the time is to stay one night in Civi where you dock, and fly out the next am. Hotel Traghetto is near the port, easy walk to restaurants, and a great service staff.

They can also arrange transport to FCO for you.

  8. I know the Silhouette will Sail to Southampton on April 15th of 2018 as we are booked on it. The Eclipse sails the same day for Dublin out of Miami.

Whether they stay and Sail from those locations all summer

    I do not know.

  9. Large Travel Agents also reserve a number of cabins and then release the ones that have not sold. Often this leads to folks upgrading their existing booking which frees up the lower level cabins.

Princess also combines Cruises into longer offerings. Example is our 20 day we booked for January is also sold as two individual 10 day cruises. They block off a number of cabins only for the 20 day. When it gets close to sailing date, they may free up some of those which are then added back into the 10 day cruise offerings.

They do the same on 7/14 day packages.

  10. Only Con to using a TA is that you lose some control, in that to change anything you have to contact your TA to do it.

Finding one who monitors price drops and added Promos that come up after you have booked is a bonus, otherwise you need to pay attention to offers that may come up. Then you have to contact them. Mine just contacted me about a Promo on our Spring Cruise that dropped the cost over $1000. Last fall she Contacted me about a Drink Package Promo on a 20 day Princess Cruise I had booked for next month. Had to rebook at a few hundred dollars more in cost, but two Drink packages for 20 days costs over $2000.

A TA that is responsive to these changes is key, added OBC is a big plus too as mentioned above.
