I had a cruise cancelled for a 3/28 cruise on NCL, requested a cash refund which took a total of 77 days and was posted back to my original CC

Which ship were you sailing on? I assume you got your refund yesterday or Monday? Im still waiting on my refund for my 3-28 sailing on the Escape.

I believe I read a message from you on cruise critic that you filed a dispute claim on 3/13/2020.  I didn’t receive a notice from NCL until 3/14/2020 indicating suspension of cruises embarkation dates 3/13/2020 to 4/11/2020.

Did you attempt to resolve dispute with NCL first?  That’s an important first step before filing a dispute claim.  Keep a record of who you spoke with and the information provided.

You might not be eligible for a cash refund from NCL but you may be eligible for future cruise credit from NCL.

You are correct. I opted to cancel that dispute the next day and gave NCL the benefit of the doubt. I refiled my dispute early in May when the bankruptcy rumors were running rampant. I have called NCL multiple times to check up and keep getting the same reply. "Sir, it can take up to 90 days after filing for a refund, although the refunds are typically completed much sooner".  Welp, its day 66 and no refund. I am indeed eligible for a refund. NCL cancelled my 3/28/20 sailing, not me.

Why do I have this sinking feeling that they are going to drop a bomb on us June 23rd that our money isn’t coming? Everything else in our lives that got cancelled, kids’ summmer camps, etc. has been refunded. Really wondering if I should contact Amex now.

I did a dispute with my CC and was notified today that I lost. NCL has the time and resources to fight CC disputes, but cant handle/process refunds?? They have lost my business.

Today is day 30 of my 90 day wait for my April Cruise.  Nothing yet. 60 days to go.

Today is day 52 since I filled out the form. I've heard nothing either. I called last week and the rep said I was on the refund list and it was processing. I was assured it wouldn't take the full 90 days. Yeah, right..

Has anyone gotten a refund back who requested it? I requested it the first day I could April 16th.

I chatted online with a Capital one Rep and they said since they are going to issue a refund, I cannot do a charge back even if they said it will take 90 days to get the money back. Also the purchase well over the 119 days.

So I guess I am screwed if they go bankrupt.

I just got off the phone with Citi, I opened a dispute. They agreed I have waited long enough for a refund (requested refund as soon as the form was available 3-23) and posted a conditional credit. Who know whether Ill win it or not, but figured with todays headlines I wanted to get a dispute on the books just in case.

Remember, filing a dispute accuses the vendor of a criminal act. And that, when contacted by law enforcement (FBI for international crimes), you will aid in the criminal investigation. If they have a published policy, then there is no basis for a dispute. And if you are found to be submitting a false claim, you could be liable for investigation costs and NCL typically puts you on the Do Not Sail list forever.

I’m not too concerned. My dispute is for goods/services not delivered, which is 100% accurate. Why should NCL be able to hold my hard earned money? I paid them when payment was due. They aren’t delivering the goods I paid for. I am not willing to wait 100 days for my refund. Plenty of other cruise lines to sail if they blacklist me.

I use a specific CC for travel payment. The only other item I use this card for is one monthly auto-payment of $50 and the balance is paid in full monthly. If I take the refund, does the money just sit in the CC account until I finally use it all? Is there any way to get the cash back?

Not really. Use the CC credit to buy gift cards to Walmart, Target etc. Then buy your groceries and such with the gift cards.

  8. Whats the upgrade landscape looking like these days with all the discounted fares? I am on the Escape 03/28. Booked in an MB currently. Placed upgrade offers on H5, H6, H7. What is NCLs pricing policy if I call to upgrade to the Haven from my Mini Suite? Do they just charge the difference from the original booking price to the current price, or will they offer a better price to upgrade?

    Thanks all!

What about holding a desired cabin for now.  If the price increases within that time frame, book the price hold. If it decreases, then of course, book that price.  If it stays the same, rehold the cabin and see where pricing goes.  I've done this many times.

Good idea. To do a 24hr hold, Ill need to call my PCC right, or can I book the hold on NCL.COM?

EDIT*** Did a mock booking online. Courtesy hold is available online.

If you are looking at the March 21st sailing, which I am on and have been following prices, they have gone up a bit the last couple of days. I'm not sure if that is because inventory has dropped or if they are inflating for another sale.

I am doing the 3/28 sailing. The current prices are reasonable, Id just hate if there was a significant decrease within a few days.

  11. Im going to be booking the Escape for March. Just curious if anyone knows the new promos/pricing starting after the new year? Normally Id book now and make adjustments, but Im booking after final payment so my usual cancel/rebook wont work this time. So book today, or wait??

    Thanks all.
