The bottle bendars are great they do the job just put in your fresh your squeezed oj juice and water maybe some almond mik water be craetive they have choices on a cruiseship to be healthy. It is all about choices. The nice part is wedo not have to prepare a thing you really have a personal chef doing it all. Think of all the fresh fruit and greens ask for your meats to be prepared with no sodium and no sauces . Really its a dieters heaven look at it that way .

  3. I understand where kitcrazy is coming from. For the past almost 2 months, I have been making veggie smoothies using a Magic Bullet NutriBullet and my blood sugar is amazingly stable as a result (no hypoglycemic incidents). While there may be a plethora of food available, a lot of it is high in sugar and simple carbohydrates that make blood sugar levels fluctuate widely in susceptible people. I do not expect the cruise line to accommodate this need, but I will miss my kale smoothies and the stable blood sugar levels that come with drinking them. I will be bringing my own whole grain, unsweetened cold cereal with me and I'll eat a some hard boiled egg whites along side for the protein to ensure that I start off the day with a meal that will not lead to episodes of low blood sugar later on.

First off good for you. We also do shakes and follow a back to basics eating.

Meaning no process what so ever. It really is interesting pretty much brings you back to childhood when you first got introduced to foods. The loss has been incredible. And the food you can eat is really what mother nature has given us. But remember the cruise lines will help you follow your diet restrictions.

I travel with a blender bottle and manually shake my shakes for the period of time I am away it works. They are about $9.00 and serves dual purpose after for my water bottel at that bar.

And just eat my greens.i have also gotten Kale chips on the boat..

I follow a no sugar no sodium when I travel and the rest is easy to pick and chose.

  4. bumping this up, I will be on the Splendor in March and would like to know this also. I just got off of a NCL cruise and the entertainers are just horrible!

Hi im still checking out entertainment as I had originally posted. We are on over Christmas .So I hope they bump it up.

But to answer your question did you go on Carnival's entertainment site as they have some concerts schedule and there is one booked on Splendor for March. If that is your sailing now is the time to book your tickets ..they have some great entertainment booked for Carnival but it is hit and miss. Fingers crossed I hope it is yours.i noticed some other sailings on other ships in 2015 sold out concerts.

And that is the same for NCL they have great entertainment but it depends your sailing.

It is a shame they should bump up there entertainment allround. Especially on hoildays and long cruises.

  5. Maybe you can explain?

I heard a vaccine developed in Canada is being tested in U.S.? Is that accurate? If so, why?

    Thanks.

Hi the vaccine is in hands of World Health Authorities.

One of the major reason is for the boarder doctors and health care workers. It right now is what we have to protect till we have more information and studies show it works. The same thing was done in the fight against Poilo.

Canada's vaccine is one shot and US is a two shot.

  6. I will try Carnival again as it has been years...i know we had ok luck with NCL. And if cruise staff does there job we will be great.

Like I said I do not mind kids . I just like some Adult time... When we traveled with ours we enjoyed the time letting our kids meet other travelers from around the world and have had wonderful conversations. As my Children grew up without grandparents it was great for the interaction and hearing there stories at the dinner table. There were many times our children took home with them pen pals..(yes pen pals)

I encouraged the pen. This way they exchanged post cards. But we always made sure of there politeness and manners. I believe now we sit at a table and the parents bring out the phone or tablet to entertain there kids while we are sitting ..I am not sure if this is right or wrong i am just confused as they don't speak to you or make any noise till ( this can be good) the tablet stops or the food arrives then they YELL very load when it is taken away. I know my kids went through school on comp. they are only in 20's I just think it is also important for social skills to learn to talk and to listen.

Maybe the pool area is so loud as the kids just do not have the skills to talk:confused:

  7. I think I would have to say the worse line was MSC.

No contro at all. And what they called the adult area kids every where.....And then they had the PAID adult area thats right just another way to get money was guarded by staff and was always empty? I really dont understand why did they not guard the otherAdult area to begin with and then you would have no kids:confused: but you did get a cold cloth n fruit on a stick:banghead:

Maybe they should charge the kids to slide and play on the cruise lines as they sail free:D just a thought maybe a twoonie , loonie, fiver a day for use

  8. I understand your predicament, and I'm sorry, but I will be cruising with my kids, however, they will NOT be in the adults only areas. I think the problem really comes down to passenger satisfaction, in the respect of not wanting to upset the parents of said children, and risk losing tip money or future/repeat guests. I don't understand either why some people feel that rules do not apply to them in any way. If you're bringing your kids on vacation with you - fine. However, it is YOUR responsibility to keep your children under control and to not encroach on the enjoyment of others. And yes, as a parent, I believe this to be true.

You sound like a very responsible cruiser and respectful. I to always followed the cruise ship rules. And respected my fellow passengers. I would like to cruise with your family....

Trust me it is not that we do not want to here from children...We do not even mind sharing a table at dinner...We just would like a Adult zone to be just that...after all the nice smoking cigar lounge is just that NO KIDS.

I don't believe we have to pay the high price cruise small liners to go on to get that. We also still work and have only certain times to go...

The parents of these children will be empty nesters one day

The cruise industry has to remember the BOOMERS are filling up the ships..$$$$ We will soon all be in retirement over the next decade .

  9. My husband and i have worked hard . We are now empty nesters:) We took our children when young on holidays with us always. Now as they are adults we like to cruise with them when life permits ...

But right now we are enjoying the two of us and adult conversation

Last year we went on a cruise and they did not enforce the NO KIDS in the adult zone. I have no problem cruising with kids i just want to find a cruise line to go to who enforces there rules.

Nice to lay in the sun and no" Maro Polo "

  10. Thanks goodness for them and for there families...

I would like to say hallelujah for the rest of the cruise passengers and staff. Around of applause still for The Port stops turning away the ship .

For now we are all better to follow the BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY and what ever the ,flight ,cruise, border crossing , goverment , health officials implement till we know more. Just sit back accept and feel they are doing it for us.

  11. I would say NOW..

You could do the guarantee cabin early booking and you have great chance of being moved up the ladder as one would say.

You could book and pick your cabin and still watch the deals as then you would be credited the difference to your room till final payment..

And some lines give double rewards for booking in advance so depending on what line you wish to build your status with this helps alot...

  12. First off you port at Canada Place in Vancouver. Taking a taxi will be your best bet and the quickest. Keep in mind you can spend a day at Stanley Park so decide what it is you want to see. Our zoo and the marine life really is something and then from there enjoy the sea wall and park and you could make your way back to Canada Place.

Another place is Gas Town all walking from your port.We pride our self in the fact that it is a multi cultural vibrant city, the restaurants are endless no matter what you want to try.

For Bushard Gardens your will need approx. 50 to 60 mins to and from the port in Victoria. Not sure on your length of your time but you have beautiful grounds all through Victoria .The Empress Hotel and there gardens are wonderful in May and the Parliment buildings along with high Tea in the Hotel. Just doing the horse and cariage ride through Virtoria seeing the heritage homes and buildings and gardens are very beautiful here in May we are in full bloom. People do not realize but Vanvouver Island is Canada's tropics you will see palm trees:cool:

Enjoy Vancouver and Vancouver Island. :)

  13. I mean in the sense that with 2 confirmed cases out of a population of 320 million people, there is hardly an Ebola issue in the USA. More people have leprosy. People are panicking and as yet nothing has happened.

That's what I mean about there is nothing to protect against, with 2 cases of a not particularly infectious disease in an entire country (and only 9000 cases in the entire world) it is overkill for cruise lines to implement all these expensive procedures to screen for something that isn't even a problem yet. They should absolutely be developing procedures on what to do in the event of an outbreak, that's good forward planning, but do they need to be doing it just yet? No I don't think so.

When I read your quote Jacs I am in wonderment...maybe it is time to read back on Polio and its victims life's.

Forward thinking right now is without a doubt what needs to be put in place. Till they have a better handle on Ebola. When you think of money it does not even come in to play. Governments spend money every day on foolish useless expenses this is not one of them. And for Cruise ship industries cost of doing business. I'm sure the industry has insurance. ..

  14. Belize turned Carnival Magic away and would not permit guests ashore.

They turned the ship away as there was a connection. The person is in quarantine. Belize is small they do not have the resources. I say bravo, as this is what our international airlines need to do that are Direct /Connection flight from Africa turn them away cancel them ground the flights till further notice.

  15. Until there is an epidemic, there is nothing the cruise lines need to do to protect people. There is nothing to protect from. Currently there is what, 2 people in the whole of the USA that have Ebola? There are far more transmitible deadly diseases out there than just Ebola, and more people have died from them. Perhaps you should be worrying about them too.

Hi ....have you watched CNN this am ...Your statement "there is nothing to protect from" needs a wake up call. Have you followed the route the nurse took on a plane. .?

Have you watched the news this morning on Carnival Cruise Lines on there quarantine ,probable low risk till clears. But still needs attention from health authority.

But most of all nice to here that Carnival is now going to put a protocol in to effect.

I am sure it will be only time till all other lines follow...

That is all at this point society can ask for till the next level of protection is needed besides protecting ourselfs as much as we can.

It will not be long till the Anti Virus is out in volume they ship to Africa and they also will provide our countries with it... (I believe) as they have already produced it and have had great success.

  16. I appreciate your info...not all Countries/ Cities have direct flights from the affected Country. Canada already has in place that requires travelers to Canada to tell border officers if "they think they might be sick with a contagious illness or been in contact with someone who is." When you are identified your temperature check will be done.

Canada will also use "targeted temperature screening" I believe it has started or will start in the next couple days.

This is a very easy border test and a easy test for Cruise Ships for their passengers and staff..

After all we are talking probably less than 2 seconds of your time.

And living the rest of your life..

  17. Great news. My account has been credited with the points from my first cruise with NCL.

My faith is restored, and I will be booking another cruise for 2016 as soon as I am logistically able.

Well done NCL, and many thanks.

I'm now double restored...:beer:Cheers to Public Relations with Norwegian. ..

Maybe just maybe they will treat us very nice for those us who had to wait years...Maybe:p

  18. The question still remains unanswered. ..What are the cruise ship lines doing to help protect us?

At this moment if you fly you have a check point where your temperature is checked. It you are at 101 you are sent to a secure room for another screening.

That does make me feel secure sorry call it what you want.

But I have not heard anything from the Cruise lines and there roll ..

Today's topic on news is Ebola and how to control before we have a world epidemic on our hands...

  19. Yea...I am so happy for you. I knew Public Relations would not let you down.

The lady I worked with worked hard. And for that reason my husband and I turned around and booked a 17 day cruise for next year...I picked up the phone and phoned NCL the next few days after and we are off to S.A....I really believe in forgiving n forgetting. .

I hope it works out for you. And I hope it works out for us and NCL being our cruise line for retirement:beer:Cheers

  20. It doesn't take away the risk, or even change the risk, but it does (it should) put it into perspective.........To realize that we all take many more risks every day without concern should help one come to accept not being concerned about things that are a much lower risk. There are thousands of things I am at risk for every day, so if I'm going to worry about any of them I have to prioritize them into which ones are more likely to happen. Why worry about having a satellite fall on my head while walking down the street, when I don't even worry about getting electrocuted with a fallen power line or having a heart attack while walking down that same street (both more likely).

Ebola is not easy to catch except for those few who deal with the bodily fluids of those infected. You're not going to catch it from passing someone in the hall or sitting beside someone on a bus. Unless that person vomits all over you, of course.

I feel very confused by this statement this morning...As a responsible adult I take care of my body if I can by fueling it properly to avoid heart attacks. Some need medical attention it is not contagious .Crossing a street, driving and being hit by a car is just that a accident. ( Unless you are a fool.)And all of your other examples you give are just that or maybe some people call it a power out of there hands...

This as of this morning has another health care worker become ill with ebola.. (this is carelessness) lets just say each health care worker has come in contact with 10 people outside of there work. I also feel we need to control our boarder doctors till this is under control.

I can not say enough how anxious I am for Canada to provide us with anti virus. December can't come soon enough.

    I

Puplic washrooms are a scary place.

  21. I have looked over the replies. And a lot of cruisers fly in from all over the world especially over the Dec. holidays.

We also have the health care worker in Dallas that has come down with Ebola and we really do not know the number of direct contact they had ..

It's a scary thought...😲 It is a unknown at this point?

  22. Is anyone concerned about the health scare and traveling with the Ebola virus out there..and what are your plans to protect your self .? Do you have to fly in?

Do you know what the cruise lines are doing for better over all health protection?

Just curious as when you turn on the TV it is front n centre...It is starting to creep into our minds...
