  1. I have recently registered for Latitudes Rewards, having booked a cruise for May 2015.

I previously sailed on the Spirit in 2006. As it was an 11 night cruise in a suite, I received 22 points, which puts me in the Silver Tier. Back in 2002 I had a balcony cabin on the repositioning cruise (maiden voyage) of the Dawn, from Southampton UK to New York. However NCL say they have no record of this voyage, and have asked me to prove I was actually on the Ship.

They suggest I provide photographic evidence, receipts etc.

I don't recall taking photo's, as it was my first trip following the sudden death of my wife. I have searched for some evidence and the only two items I could find was the cabin Key Card, and a signed CD from Sammy Goldstein, who was the pianist on board.

I'm not sure either of these items actually constitute proof.

To be honest, I can't really understand why NCL have no record of the cruise, and although the points won't make any difference to my current status, this has left a slightly bitter taste in my mouth.

Has anyone else had a problem similar to this, and would you just forget about it, or pursue the matter? I know the points won't make that much difference, but it's just the principal.

Principal...I agree this happened to me.It took 7 years of trying to get the points. and the cruise was 11 years ago. They wanted me to to send evidence and I did...

It did not help as there answer was they had no record. I had my ship card with the date . still did not matter. So then I started asking for more points then what the cruise was. And I sent emails to all that I could find of importance stating what all i have done to get my points Public relations ect and i was sure to attach to all.

Guess what I got a response with in a week:)....from there it still took about 3 months. But they found my cruise with correct amount of days;) ..

The worst of it all is , the apology from them I literally had to spell out for them. How hard is it to pick up a phone or actually say you are correct you do have more points coming your way. Or wait throw a extra

points your way as we are talking 11 years......(or a point a year you have missed giving me my points) one could only hope they have PR in mind:confused:

But I can tell you after the dust settled the lady I dealt with did her job I can put this behind me and forgive and forget...As life is to short and we do like NCL...keepcalmandcruiseon

  2. I need 4 cabins , two of which need to sleep 4 persons. The choices that I am considering are mini suites 8 cabins from the rear of the ship vs. premium balcony cabins mid ship. My concern is the motion at the rear of the ship. Three of the families have not cruised before so I don't know how they will handle the motion. However, I like the sleeper sofa that the mini suite has so only one child has to use the drop down bed. Comfort vs. motion? Any thoughts? The cruise is to Alaska round trip out of Seattle.

Hi we have cruised Alaska twice and I can tell you that you do not have a large open body water. You always will be able to see beautiful land....hope this helps . On one cruise to Alaska we had 21 -27 degrees Celsius ocean was like glass. When we were at the glacier watching the calving they had to change there hot bailey drinks to blue glacier tropical drink with a umbrella(lol).

  3. You have a flight booked? Probably non-refundable but I am just guessing. No cruise booked? OK. You live more on the edge than I do.

No way would I accept 'just what is left' or hope the price I want comes in for a NYE cruise. Getting and paying for only what is left is not my idea of setting up a nice get away. Just my opinion.

I agree a holiday is about relaxing:) And the enjoyment of preparing to go talking about your ports and plans.. Not stressing about pushing the button to book NOW:eek:...It makes the holiday sound like a gamble...You could lose:o

  4. The first time we were in Cozumel another Carnival ship was also docked nexted to us. The table next to us (with dancers on the table) asked us which ship we were on so we could let them know when to leave! It was at Fat Tuesdays. Our kids (then 14 and 11) still talk about it.

:D Yikes hope it was not us!! Ahh the memories we leave behind at each port but keep in our heart..This is why we Keepcalmcruiseon. ..

  5. They could just raise the fare a tiny bit and apply it towards WIFi and everyone would be happy.

Personally I think its nice to have real face time:D with the person I'm traveling with and the friends you meet along the way ! Maybe when your at port for a few hours so you can touch base with your family or friends that are at home but I don't mind paying. But wait when at a port stop very easy to get free Wifi:p

  6. That was a great chart and for me highlights why it is not worth it. As another poster pointed out, you need to factor in port days, so that 5-8 drinks per day is probably 8-12 on sea days. If your partner doesn't drink much, then you need to make that up as well. Maybe 15-20 per day. Every single day.

    But that's just me.

I agree it is a great chart ! My husband and I will not drink ( to round it off ) $87.00 worth a day. And if on a day we do it will be because we would like to order a special bottle of wine

or champayne. You have to remember you may not always want house wine or liquors.

And you are right to remember your port days, your sea days are the most days you will drink on board.

This is why the voucher booket system works as you can use them as needed...

Does anyone know if they have specialty coffee cards you can buy also? Usually on board!

  7. Are all the prices the same on each Carnival ship. Do they have a package that you can buy so many drinks period ?. That can be shared between the two of you. We have been on other cruises and used the voucher system and they worked great we purchased so many voucher booklets that we thought we needed. This way we did not need to each purchase for our room. As we are not big drinkers and the voucher could be used for any choice of drink/ bar beverage/ dining room.
