We too have a Family Harbor. From all I read it's good to have the lounge around, the food was great including sandwiches and snacks in the afternoon. Our cabin is an aft-extended balcony, which is under the back of the restaurant. No problems there.
If the cabin you have is in between the aft elevators and mid elevators, you are under the galley and it may get noisy overnight depending on what is exactly over you.
Regardless it's gonna be a blast.
I have some pics of the aft of the horizon in another thread

2358 is barely under the galley. Glad to know that you didn't have galley noise. Rule of thumb is the mid elevators to the aft elevators. Anything inbetween is under galaxy They are hit or miss, I see more miss than hit.

Thanks all for the thoughts and advice! We booked the aft balcony in the family harbor. So excited :) Now we just have to wait 11 months till cruise time (luckily I have my wedding and honeymoon between now and then to keep me busy)!
Awesome!, We have 2503 Aft Balcony in July. I'll let ya know!

We were in 2419 on the Vista and booked the same room on the Horizon. We didn't hear a thing from above. We've stayed in Cove Balcony rooms on the Dream and Breeze, all under the galley, and haven't ever had an issue. Maybe there is noise and we don't notice it, maybe we've been really lucky with room choices, or maybe the complaints about noise from the galley are overblown. Cove Balconies and now the Family Harbor Cove Balconies are our favorite category to book.
Yep ive never stayed under galley but read more bad than good. This reply is great, gives hope for those rooms. We are an aft family so the family harbor perks are nice. We always pay a bit more anyway for aft balconies. MUCH cheaper than aft Havana.

Good rule of thumb with being under the galley is to be back past the elevators. Anywhere forward(from the aft) of the elevators will have the galley over them(BAD) anything behind elevators are under the restaurant (good)

Are the two insides family harbor, you didn't say? The aft balconies in the Family Harbor are a unique and new class of cabin. I would most certainly choose the aft balcony. I'm booked in one for my family of four on the Horizon as well. Don't wait too long to decide as there is only ONE aft balcony in the Family Harbor that hold four people. Better snag it quick as I did or it'll be gone real quick.
THIS
There is only one aft extended balcony for 4. I'm booked in July and made sure not to take the balcony next to it! Hehe
Family Harbor for us is more for the conveniences like food nearby for when time and hunger don't mix and getting on and off the boat. My 13 year old will do what he wants either way.

I just did a mock booking on an interior of the Horizon cruise in july.
1 interior 4 ppl $4137.60
2 interior 2/2 -$4077.60
But when I did this for 2 balconies it was $300 more.

BJ's Cruises has free gratuities for for first 2 in a room, so you would receive over $400 in gratuities. And if you spend over 4k total you will get a $200 bj's gift card per room. Plus $50pp/1st 2 guests($100)OBC EACH room!.
Bad part was i had to go thru BJ's and lose my PVP thru carnival. but if you are budget minded like we were this may work for you. I can give you the name and number of my BJ's Cruise agent if you like. hit me up.
We are booked on the Horizon 7/31/2018 and I did it thru BJ's...

Fantastic review and pics so far. Looking forward to more.
FYI - Celebration was released by Kool & the Gang in September 1980. Still not quite the 70's but it is a "70's" fave.
Party pooper hehe

Great pics and review!
The night pics are really sharp.
Are you on the inaugural Horizon? I'll be on the July 31st out of NYC

I was on the skyward in very early 80's. My first cruise with the family. I was 12ish. I rwmember and we have photos of going partway thru the panama canal and mexican ruins.

We prefer aft balconies. The only movement you feel is slight side to side, not up and down. Cruising on a deck 2 aft balcony in july.
The vibrations on port morning from the thrusters just vibrate the room for 30 seconds to 2 min.

The back 10 balconies are aft -extended balconies catagory FO family harbor club.
Cove balconies are on the sides of the ship.
Yes The butt end sticks out. I cruise aft balconies and the all rock. The view is unmatched.

Being under the dining room isn't bad at all, sometimes they move chairs at the end of service but the real noise concern is under the galley. I personally would move. If there are 3 of you get an aft extended balcony. I can't stay anywhere else. Best view but be prepared for vibrations on port mornings.

We are booked on the Horizon in July. We are in an Aft Extended balcony Family Harbor (FO).
They are a new cabin catagory.
I am hoping as the reviews come in in April, they are favorable! Our family stayed in Aft-Balcony before and we love them.
Good luck

I posted in the main carnival forum a outside view of the horizons aft FO balconies. And room numbers. Seems it's hard to find pics of the aft balconies. Found this on the promo for the Panorama and added the rooms
