  1. Before yesterday I had never even heard of the term Fixipod - today, not only has that word become part of my vernacular, I am driving everyone at work crazy with other nautical engineering terms that I really should have no knowledge about! At this point I could probably fix the problem! LOL :eek:

LOL! Too funny! That's the spirit!! Here is a PDF. Drive them crazy with the Tech Guide in hand!

  2. What's to worry about? Barring a catastrophic failure that requires immediate drydock (highly unlikely), you will still go get onboard and go somewhere warm and tropical. My #1 rule for happy cruising (and I know it's been said around here before) is to choose the ship as the destination and don't worry about the scheduled ports of call. This is your honeymoon cruise. Choose to be happy and have fun on it right now.

Don't sweat the small stuff. Fixipod issues qualify as small stuff in my book.

Great rule!!! The 4/19 Eastern Caribbean is only my fourth cruise. I made the first one stressful. The second one was much better. The one we took in December, I really enjoyed the at-sea days. Hey! I am getting the hang of this! I am really looking forward to this cruise and the at-sea days. I sorta look at the ports visits as an opportunity to peek/not peek my interest on whether I would want to make an extended visit (non cruise) at any one location.

Yep! Don't sweat the small stuff! And, some would say that in the big scheme of things, it is all small stuff. Have a GREAT HONEYMOON!!!

  3. I'm on the Feb 1 sailing and just attended the Captains Corner. The Fixipod is inop. I talked to the Chief Engineer after the Capts Corne; apparently, while replacing the bearings the maintenance workers unknowingly (??) damaged some internal electrical components. The Fixipod is currently windmilling, which creates more drag and the Azipods are running at max power to get ~18 Kts. They can access the inside of the Fixipod When the ship is in port. A design fix is being developed and then has to be fabricated. He's 90% confident they can repair the pod in 30 days without a dry dock. If they can't repair it through internal access I assume they'll need to send it back to dry dock. I hope they don't need to do that. They haven't changed any of our port times, so we're making sufficient speed. The failure occurred within 24 hours of leaving Freeport.

Oh Boy! The never ending story?

  4. Next week is scheduled to be Eastern, so I could assume they are going Western this week. If that assumption is correct I would think today is a sea day so she should be at cruising speed to Labadee. I'll watch for updates, is there another site than marinetrafficdotcom?

I have used vesselfinderdotcom at times. Isn't FOS in Coco Cay until 5PM (today)?

  5. Very quickly. :D

If I may ask, is that a D1 connecting room? I have one of those next week (yay!) and I was just curious if you could point the tv near the bed, since there is only a chair and not a sofa?

    Thanks!

8328 is Category E (E1). Category D1 has the full size sofa. But, the TV does indeed swivel towards the bed or sofa/chair.

  6. I have a question for all you FREEDOM obsessed cruisers. LOL

We sailed on the BRILLIANCE in December ('14) and really liked the outdoor seating area of the BRILLIANCE WindJammer (situated aft). Does the FREEDOM have anything similar or can you recommend a location that may be similar? We really enjoyed having our breakfast/lunch out on the aft deck of the WindJammer.

  7. I haven't followed the thread as much as I would've liked to, but we are cruising on her on 4/19. In the close-up just posted, I know I can see my room (or the one on the opposite side of the ship), but I don't know which deck is which. I am in 8200, right under the bridge, but I don't know which deck is 8 or 9 or 10. Could someone help me out? I know the "white part of the ship" directly under the bridge is where my room is, but I don't know how many decks to count up or down to figure out which is deck 8. Anyone?

    Thanks!

Hey! We are sailing on 4/19 as well. And, will kind of be neighbors. To answer your question, the bridge is on Deck 10. Work yourself down two rows of windows from there and you will be 'Home.'

  8. Does not appear to be any T-AIS or S-AIS data for FOS. What I find interesting is that according to Cruise Mapper NORWEGIAN SKY and CARNIVAL FASCINATION are both in Freeport today. However, I am not showing them on MarineTraffic.com. No T-AIS coverage in Freeport? Hhhhmm

  9. If you haven't already, please sign up for our roll call here and also for the meet and mingle. I think we still have enough people signed up to make the meet and mingle happen onboard. I haven't checked in a while, but we should have enough members. My travel agent is going on the 2 day special invite cruise this Friday. Hope she sends me some pics!

    Currently 59 signed up.

  10. Are grown people suppose to get this excited about a ship? ABSOLUTELY!! Cruising with the wife and some friends on the 19 April Eastern Caribbean. Really looking forward to seeing what they have done. Then again, it is our first time on the FREEDOM. How would I be able to compare. I will just have to leave that to the pros (on CC).
