  1. Here on Iona now

the quays are fantastic. Horizon does not have the same selection as it used to and no themed nights either. I would also say the quality was down since covid.

freedom dining is a nightmare if you have not got a booking and enter the virtual queue. You can loose you place if you let your screen go off. The old fashioned pager system worked much better.

  2. We do usually go to the Buffett but we have found on the Britannia that on Sea days it can be som busy your can't find a table, and with Iona being even bigger we want a backup alternative . On port days we are usually up early watching the ship dock and then hit breakfast about 6:30 and off the ship asap to explore.

Getting to The Old Elbe Tunnel , It is walkable from Hamburg Cruise Center Steinwerder, Did it myself a few months ago. It is sign posted also if I remember correctly.  It took me about an hour to get to it, but I was not walking very fast.

Thanks for the info. We are used to walking so it's not too much of an issue even if it is an hour away.

  4. So quick question

We have done Hamburg before so we were thinking of something different to do on our trip next week. There is a tunnel that runs under the river called old Elbe Tunnel (will put the link below incase anyone is interested) which we fancy going to see. We were going to walk to it as it's only about 25 mins from the terminal but someone told us you can't walk from the Cruise ship you have to take a bus for taxi. Can anyone shed any light on if this is correct?

  5. I received the email about giving us £100 extra on-board spending money, which was tactically send just before we were due to pay the balance. We had already chose the option of parking at booking time

Once the balance was paid it appeared  on our final invoice of £50 onboard opening money each.

  6. Hi All

We have not been on a cruise in a while and wanted to check a few items ready for our trip on Iona in April. I keep seeing posts about booking restaurants on board with an app, does this include the buffet and the freedom dining restaurants.

I presume you can still take a litre of alcohol on board currently, I take it we can also take bottles of Pepsi to go with it?

    Thanks in advance

  7. Hi All

We are looking to book our 1st cruise with MSC but have done a few P&O cruises up to now. The package we are looking at includes Easy Plus Drinks Package as part of our deal.

When ordering drinks for a couple does each person need to order their own drink or can 1 of us order on your cruise card for both of you. Don't want to get a bill when it should be included

    Thanks

No problem at the moment,  but the situation changes constantly,  so no one can accurately predict what the position will be from one month to the next.

When are you going ? Is it a single cruise,  as it sounds a strange itinerary.

Lol I think I got 2 cruises mixed up. Germany, Netherlands and Belgium. Due to pay the final amount shortly but still unsure about going all things considered.

  9. Well thought I would update.

I received an email from P&O saying that because they gave a FCC I am not entitled to a refund. Think I need to look in to this further as the cruise I book is no longer the same and I cancelled as it was not safe to travel. May be I give this to my credit card company to deal with.

Yes, you are entitled to a 100% cash refund of your deposit as an alternative to the FCC.

There is a form to complete on the P&O Cruises website.  You do not have to give any reason for not accepting the FCC.  Make sure that you take a screenshot of when you send in the form as you will not receive an email acknowledgement, but you do get an on screen reply.  This is vital for audit trail purposes.

P&O says that it will take up to 60 days for you to receive your deposit back.  Some people have been reimbursed within that time, others are now experiencing waits of 90-120 days. Occasionally, web forms are "lost." If you do not receive your money back in 60 days then they can be chased, but customer service on the topic is generally poor.

The Law on the subject is that you are entitled to a refund within 14 days, but is not being followed at this time.

Your other option is to wait until holidays are released for 2022 (date unknown) and use the FCC then, however many passengers are becoming wary of them due to pricing change, itinerary/schedule issues, insurance concerns, other factors and worries about the cruise holiday experience, given the ongoing issues with Covid-19.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for this. They have already given me FCC so guessing I can just fill in the form to request a refund now?. I am guessing they will be awkward.
