  1. So I’m new to Royal and wondering what the typical time debarkation starts for those who do self assist? Trying to plan my flight. Going out of FLL so I know I don’t have to worry about travel time to the airport. I know some cruise lines debarkation can usually start around 6:30

  2. So my friend that was cruising with me is no longer able to go. I know I will eat the cost of the cruise but am I correct that I get refunded the port taxes, fees and gratuities? And if so do they do that as onboard credit or refund to original form of payment?

  3. Btwn DH and I we have a 13 day transatlantic interior from Portugal to Tampa this October for port taxes and fees. Then we have basically a B2B on the Dream in an a interior for port taxes and fees in Feb. I did upgrade for I believe it was a total of 80 to get a spa interior. It also includes drinks in the casino. Total for the 2 weeks was just under 900 so I didn't think that was that bad especially for 14 days.

  4. That's a hard decision. I agree the ports are better but then you look at the flip side with Mardi Gras being a day longer. Not sure what you do for excursions but if you like to do stuff not through Carnival I would check the boards for Ocho Rios. Hopefully it's changed but when we went the last of Oct we learned you could only go to a set list of places. (Didn't learn this until we got off the ship) We were suppose to go to the resort where we spent our honeymoon 20 years ago but learned we couldn't due to Covid restrictions.

  5. This may be confusing but need suggestions. So I had originally booked a cruise on the Miracle in an aft ext balcony under my dh with me and another family member. Later my daughter wanted to go so under my acct I booked later another room. So my dilemma is I am booked in both rooms. Do I just take myself off the room with dh? If I do does it affect my room? I plan on calling Carnival but as you know hold times are forever crazy.

I dont know the percentage of cruisers who dont trust govt can drop. I absolutely had no trust in them before covid. Still dont. Every time the govt interferes in my life I'm mad about it. I want the cso gone, i havent been silent.

That being said I still have families on my sept cruise without a clue what protocols will be. Carnival wouldnt say beyond the end of august and everyone beyond is left hanging. A mom posted hey which excursions should I bring my 5 and 7 year old to. I dont think carnival does anyone favors to not come out with 90 days at least of protocols. We are well past final payment. Families assume they can all get these exemptions they heard about. They dont even know right now they can only do bubble excursions. Not everyone is on cc and reads what I've read or they would be worried if they have any in their group not vaccinated.

I currently sail on Saturday. Only dh and I as I'm not planning a trip with kids now and having to worry about the exemptions. There are people on my sailing that still don't even know if they are going to be able to go. One family just got the notice yesterday that they didn't get an exemption for their child. I know it's a work in progress but I couldn't imagine being in that situation and waiting to know if you can cruise or not.

In addition to the above, this (from cruise industry news) today from the CDC regarding buffets and shore excursions:

    https://www.cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/24942-cdc-will-eliminate-cruise-ship-buffet-require-organized-shore-excursions.html

Yeah it will be a hard pass for me if this is the new norm. 1st you couldn't find a place to sit due to chair hogs and now each lounger 6ft apart...2nd pre packaged meals?? The amount of people that eat at the buffet is enormous and also alot do not like to eat in the main dining room for dinner. I don't see how this will work for dinner.

Minor kids can be booked in their own rooms, there are a few restrictions regarding balcony rooms and children under the age of 12 must be booked next to or directly across from legal guardian. and 13-17 can be within 3 staterooms away.

Ok I'll call and see what can be done. My husband doesn't drink much. I more so than him but neither one of is has ever had enough to warrant to actually get Cheers. But I also love the coffee shop so makes more sense for me to have Cheers. My son usually carries on his 12 pack of soft drink and another in place of my daughter that only drinks water so he probably wouldn't really utilize the bottomless bubbles.

I dont think it's possible to do ahead of time without paying a name change fee.

That's why people wait to do it onboard.

Thats kinds what I thought just thought it weird to have the ability to change the names online. Personally I don't have much hope the cruise will even go but just in case. Any idea if I will get the Cheers once we switch onboard?

  10. So I have a booking with 2 rooms. When I booked I booked my husband and oldest son in one room and myself and 2 other kids 15 and 13 in the other. I had planned when on board to get second room keys so I could stay with my husband and he with his brother and sister. So my question is my cruise is paid in full and I haven't checked in yet. It is possible to edit the names in my cruise manager. Technically they can be in a room by themselves and they are across the hall in an interior anyway. We got free Cheers for my husband room so trying to move so I can get as well. If not no worries.

Our March cruise has 3 ports.  Nassau, which I am fine staying on ship for, as we have been there 10+ times both by cruise and all-inclusive, Grand Turk and Amber Cove. (also been to each mucho times.)  I am wondering how they will work Amber Cove, as that is an area pretty much built just for cruisers.  Maybe they will not let you "out of the port gate" if not on an excursion.  We just hang at the port area anyway, using pool, zip line, slides.  Same with GT.  Hang at Margaritaville and watch people wipe out on flowrider.    However, many people walk to Jack's shack.  Wonder if they will somehow fence off the beach to stop that from happening, or just put the not on an excursion- stay on ship ban into place.  Or make an excursion to Margaritaville - lol.  We have a nice L-shaped cabin for our cruise, so will not be unhappy staying on Magic and use her as a floating resort.

I thought of this but what about when more than one ship is in port? If they are wanting to keep us in the bubble how can that be when there is another cruise ship there. I have wondered that about alot of the islands where beach space is often shared with another ship.
