  1. I would definitely check "my offers" under your VIFP account. I played in the casino on the Breeze in Sept. and read on CC that there were real cheap cruises for October & November. I then looked under my account and lo and behold there were tons of $25 & $50 cruises. I never received an email from Carnival telling me that these were being offered so I would never have known about them if not for CC. I waited to book a cruise and it cost me a total of $231 as I am sailing solo on a 5 day out of Miami.

My mom & I are also sailing on a 5 day out of Miami (Dec 4th) on a $25 offer.

  2. My situation...took my parents on their first cruise in May. My mom spent $200 of "her" money but played for a long time because she kept winning & never cashed out. I know she only spent $200 because I managed her account. We are booked on a cruise in 27 days from a casino offer she got for $25 pp for 5 night. Interior room. Option to upgrade was several hundred more pp.

  3. Can anyone confirm the "cash out at casino" trick still works? I purchased $150 cruise cash as a gift for my parents and then they received $350 obc for price drops. They also prepaid shore excursions & gratuities. *sigh*, so I want to see if that trick is still working. No way will they spend that much & I don't want to lose the $150. tia

  4. I can recommend Deed Man's Reef/Paradise cove. There is a discussion on the board about them. Quickly--after Pat & Diane cancelled the day of our snorkeling trip, the driver recommend Paradise Cove. We paid $16 round trip transportation each, $3 entrance fee, $5 locker rental & brought our own gear. Had a fantastic time. The driver waited for us & took us back in plenty of time. You can also book on their website.

  5. I second deadmans reef. If you do it on your own, tell a driver at the port you want to go. They may try to talk you into going somewhere else. The posted fee is $8.00/pp each way & takes about 15 minutes. The entry fee is $3 or $4 pp. You can rent snorkel equipment there or take your own & snorkel from the beach or for $5/pp they can take you out in a boat. For the day we had about $80 in it for four people. If someone in your party doesn't want to snorkel, they can hang out in a covered area or the beach. There are also chairs for rent. You can also book direct on the website for $39.99 pp including transportation, but was double what we paid on our own. That is a great deal. The owner is very responsive to emailed questions.

  6. We paid $8/pp each way and it took about 15 minutes. We were in port from 8-1. Our driver waited on us, but others from the ship booked paradise cove directly. They had no issue getting back. When I went, Carnival did their excursion there. Just leave when the excursion does & you'll be fine. I am glad we went and did something at this port. It was highlight of our trip. However, if you are wanting beach day, paradise cove/deadmans reef is probably not the place unless you are hanging out on the beach. Swimming area is very rocky.

  7. Last year my family booked a snorkel trip with Pat & Diane. When we met the driver in port, Pat called to say it was to windy & canceled our trip. The driver recommended Paradise Cove. I was nervous going somewhere I hadn't researched, but so glad we did! We took about a 15 minute drive to Paradise Cove. Once there we paid $3 per person entry fee and I think a $5 locker rental. Barry (the owner) gave us instruction & off we went. We chose to go to the left side which was very shallow. Really, to shallow. It was also very rocky getting out to where we could float. My hubby & 13yo went over to the deep part and saw much more. I stayed in the shallow part with my 8yo. Our driver had stayed to wait on us. This was the best excursion. Someone the whole family enjoyed. We are going back in May, but this time will take a boat out to the deeper water. I don't remember what we paid the driver. Sorry. Best of luck to you!

  8. I am not doing a review as think it will be covered here & by the pros. Just a few thoughts: We planned to be at the port in Baltimore at 11:00, but arrived at 12:05 & were on ship by 12:30. We had FTTF & I am glad we did as we went around the long line to check in.

We had room 1132. When I booked online this was the only floor showing open. I know now to call. Our room steward experience was just like OP. FANTASTIC!

We did feel some movement and vibration, but nothing that would ruin a vacation.

Circle C- My 14yo boy found it to "juvenile" for him. He was only there a few minutes and didn't want to go back. My 8yo went to Camp Carnival most nights from 8:00-10:00 and enjoyed it very much. The family comedy shows were great. Even the 14yo who doesn't like anything enjoyed them.

We did self disembark. Without FTTF we were supposed to leave ship between 10:50-11:15 (or close to that). With FTTF were were off ship by 9:20. This was important to us as we had a 3 1/2 drive home & work on Monday.

Sounds like op had a great vacation as did my family.

  9. Definitely a good choice. It is public transportation and is far from luxury accommodations, but it is friendly, cheap, and reliable and the driver and people are friendly. Good luck!

    Thank you!

  10. Hi! I'm leaning more towards taxi. I think it might be easier with the little ones. Going together might work! Does anyone know if a taxi will hold all of us? There's 4 in our family--how many in yours?

We also have 4. I am going to post on the f b roll call page also & see if anyone there has any information.

  11. We just took the #10 Jitney to Melia with our 9 year old grandson but rather than going to the resorts we walked through the parking lot to the left of Melia and did Cable beach for free. There is also another resort to the left of the Melia (from the street view) that had a restaurant and while we did not eat there others on the beach told us the food was good and reasonable. DH and grandson also rented a wave runner. So there are options for Cable rather than the resorts.

Did you feel safe on the Jintey? When you were ready to leave do you just go to the drop off spot & wait for it to come back? Also, was it hard to find once leaving the ship? tia

  12. Would the Jitney be ok to take with small children (4yo and 1yo)? We'd like to go to Melia.

I am on your Carnival Cruise & will be going to Melia as well. Have you decided on Jintney or taxi? Maybe we can go together? I have kids as well, although much older--14 & 8.
