Hi all.  Jim is doing good .  His pain is well controlled.  He is very tired.  I’m exhausted!  We are working on transferring him to a Rehab facility here in Santa Barbara.  Thank you all for your support.
Hey World Cruisers, isn’t there anything to report??  Not even 1 photo??  Miss you all!  Crisy

    Good Morning Santa Barbara

Hi Crisy, I am wishing Jim a great recovery and you some well deserved rest once in awhile.

Just wanted you to know how much I liked Santa Barbara. My grandson and I spent a few hours there while in Port in 2022.

You live in a very beautiful place 😍

Sending warm wishes your way 🤗

  2. The Opera House is worth seeing, it's really beautiful.

I spent hours to see every room

     a few years ago.

Have fun on your continuing cruise. I just landed in Fiji for my 3 hour layover home

It was nice meeting you. Keep on posting your gorgeous pictures.

Don't know what a second lower guarantee is.  Perhaps a guarantee where you put down a deposit so the second lower would be no deposit.  Please explain

No need to worry as Regent will make offers to people with reservations and keep sweetening the offers until they have enough suites for all of the guarantees.  Have never heard of guarantees getting a buy out offer.

Sorry, I should have said that I booked and paid for a guaranteed  G category cabin. The lowest is H on the Mariner. I have a cabin # for my first segment, but not yet for my second one. Rose

  4. Hi, I am a solo cruiser booked a B2B the Mariner, both in the second lower guarantee. Never booked like that before on any cruise ship, but I got a 25% solo supplement if I would book guarantee. For my first segment this month I got my cabin number already and an upgrade, but still waiting for my second cabin confirmation. Keeping my fingers crossed.🤞

Ummm, our cruise ship docks at 7am at the Canada Place cruise terminal.  It is the end of the cruise, so we have to get off.  Just found out he is leading a meeting over Zoom at 9 am that is so important we will have to cancel our cruise.  I checked the Vancouver Library, but they don't open till 9:30.  Hotels are never going to guarantee checking in that early.  Any other ideas?

The Pan Pacific has a complimentary lobby wifi.

If you are a guest there, you have a 24 hour Guest Internet Center

    Good luck👍

Hi Olive and everyone, good question

Guests traveling solo have become a big trend in recent years.  We have responded by offering more single-staterooms onboard Celebrity Edge, and on future ships, than on any other ship in the fleet.  The feedback has been fantastic and are always exploring other ways to respond to the needs of solo-travelers.  On Edge and new ships coming, a single traveler does not have to pay a 100% supplement due to the solo-staterooms.

Our team is always exploring other ways to respond to the needs of solo-travelers.  I will make sure to share your request and comments with our team.

    Hi Lisa,

Thanks for pointing out that there are solo cabins on the Edge and future ships.  I was on the Edge for 4 weeks in January/February and had a chance to see a single infinity balcony cabin occupied by a female, who stored her belongings in her suitcase under the bed. I am not sure if you are aware, that the storage is less than desirable, even for a single person. The room has a queensize bed taking up most of the space, there is not 1 single drawer available for your personal belongings like t-shirts, p-j's, undies etc. The available closet holds barely your dresses and slacks and blouses. A smaller bed and a dresser, or over the bed storage would work wonders. The storage might be fine for a 7 day Caribbean cruise, but not for a B2B European cruise combined with a transatlantic where warmer clothing is needed. I tried to share my concern with your team in March, without success, but it took 2 months to even get an answer to my email.

It would be nice to find out if you would consider changing that?

Thank you in the name of all single cruisers who might be interested in a solo cabin,

    Rose

Anyone have a good profile plan of Edge and what's on each deck?  Like the map you get when boarding or the ship models at the elevators?

Similar to this one for Infinity.

I was at Customer relations when an older lady asked for a map, they told her to use her phone, but after she told them that she does not own a phone,  they gave her a small map.

only some of the food is free . Basically if it is plated and within reach it is free. There are a couple of things they get for you as well. You need to check the menu each day as it is on a rotation. Free things show no prices. Others have a price listed

There was no menu at the Edge in January and the available food was the same every day for 4 weeks 😣

No gelato at Cafe al Bacio.  Oceanview has “scoops” area .... 8 flavors at no extra charge, two gelatos for a fee.  No affogatto.😪

With only 9 days left until we board the EDGE, I've decided to wait to check out your review, MVP!  Also going to withdraw from reading ANY Edge threads so as to experience this avant-garde ship with my own eyes. There are so many comments already posted about the IV drawbacks that second thoughts about the concept are starting to creep into this ol' brain.

well Barb, have a wonderful time on this gorgeous ship...I will be flying into FFL on the 4th and board the Edge on the 6th of Jan and looking really forward to it...I read the report of MVP and it is real good and honest...at least take a peak...it is worth it...happy cruising, sorry I miss all of you in March...🤗 Rose

found out an hour or so ago that the controls by the window allow partial opening or clothing.... lesson learned... adjust shade in port before you are buck naked... 😞

You are just too funny...😄 there could be some folks on board who might like to be buck naked with open shades😂

I agree - the Concierge benefits are not worth much except perhaps on the older M-class ships where the staterooms are bigger.

If you'd really prefer a stateroom on the Edge without the infinite verandah, your choices are small in regard to balcony cabins. As we weren't sure ourselves if we'd like an infinite balcony which might give us an enclosed feeling we booked a SV-category verandah room right at the aft of the ship for our Med cruise. The only alternative I'd know of are the ones in cat. 1B/1A which are the cheapest balcony cabins but as far as I could see the balconies are tiny and closed in ( the small round ones on the picture of the ship). SV cat. gives you a huge balcony and a larger cabin - but it's a long walk from the stern to the front...

I agree, booked an SV cabin to have a real balcony..

  14. HI Luckylissette, thanks for the beautiful video... when you are doing the video of the missing cabins would it be possible to get to see the single cabins a bit better? the take was very fast and hard to see really anything.

    thanks for your consideration,

    Rose

Are you referring to a video of Single Balcony cabin?  I saw one of the renderings but none of the actual cabin since the ship arrivd in Fort Lauderdale. Where did you find a video of the actual cabin? I must have missed it with all of the EDGE threads I'm following.

Nancy, Luckylissette posted a video in "Closer to the ..Edge", a walk through of most cabins, but a few

Interesting...we have a similar scenario...but fewer days booked.

first we have 7 days in the AQ class cabin  in January...Not too keen about the Enclosed Veranda from what I've seen so far  .Infinite seems not very apt for such a small area..

After that experience we have a longer cruise next fall in a Sunset Veranda...that looks more promising with the large outside balcony( albeit no loungers out there)   We won't have BLU or Thermal suite but  a chance to  explore other dining...etc.

I think the single cabins look very cozy and compact but not bookable by  more than one person, so no plans for that right now,

It will  be fun to compare notes!

hope to meet you at the meet and mingle, if I ever get to book it, it seems my booking number can't be found, even so I already printed my boarding pass.. I am solo on the 6th and 13th, on the 20th I am with my friend Tish from South Carolina and on the 27th with my friend Sarah from Vancouver Island... Getting excited now, see you on board...

  17. I am on the Edge in January for 2 weeks in an SV and the next 2 weeks in Aqua class, long story how that booking happened, but I will sure see the difference in the balconies. For Oct/Nov B2B I booked a single cabin.. the rendering at the time of booking did not look different than the reg. infinity balcony, but looking at the video just now, it seems there is no sofa or a decent chair in the cabin and the bathroom looks much different too. Just wondering about the storage space...

Even the chairs on the infinity balconies look very uncomfortable, no more sunning on the balcony I guess... well these are my 5 cents.

    Since you asked.

I am a member of a couple of forums that use the same version of IPBoard/Invision Community as Cruise Critic - but who have the Tapatalk plugin installed. One of the forums has their own app which is written using Tapatalk white label. (That's what the CC app was written on. However, the version of the old CC app would not support the current version of IPBoard, which is why it won't work anymore.) The other forum does not have a white label app, so you'd have to use the Tapatalk app. On the first forum, you can use either their app or Tapatalk.

The speed of the mobile browser is noticeably slower when compared to the app versions. The data overhead, or bandwidth usage is quite a bit higher for the browser version. That might not be a big deal if you have unlimited data on your mobile plan, but not everyone does.

There are display issues on the mobile and tablet versions of the browser based site. It's most noticeable in font support. (This should be a relatively simple fix since it can be done via CSS.)

In any case, there's a pretty big difference between "mobile responsive" and "optimized for mobile."

People miss optimized. I know that I do, and I figured out how to do most things in the mobile browser version. (I'll go out on a limb and say that I can probably do more than average.)

That still does not change the fact that I'd be happier with a mobile optimized version of the site. There are people like my wife, who used the site 4 or 5 days a week via the app. She stopped using CC completely - and she has the site bookmarked on her phone and tablet - and I set up her custom activity streams. I can only imagine what it's like for people without in-house technical support.

Thank you so much for your detailed information...i now uninstalled tapa  talk and just use the website, which works on my Samsung tablet, but still not on my cellphone...i can see all responses, but cannot download to read it..or even type anything, maybe my phone is just too old it is a Samsung S5 Neo.

Thank you again, I really appreciate your help,

    Rose
