  1. We are keen ballroom dancers but never attempt any of our routines when sailing on Celebrity because there is just no space. We get up for the Jive and the cha cha but that is about it.

  2. We really enjoyed the Concierge embarkation lunch. Though the menu was limited we both found something we liked. There is a dedicated area to leave your luggage and it was a very relaxing start to the cruise - chatting to fellow passengers and enjoying a glass of wine.

  3. Very limited choice of books on our recent Millennium cruise. Glad we took our own which we. donated at end of cruise. Agree that library is not particularly conducive to reading and that the balcony is the best place to do this in peace.

  4. As others have explained you do not qualify for the 144 transit visa. A ship's excursion when visiting Shanghai (using the 15 day visa waiver scheme which stipulates that you must be part of an organised tour) may be a little pricy but it is so worth it. We had a wonderful day visiting the Watertown followed by a fabulous lunch in a 5 star hotel, a visit to a silk factory (no pressure to buy) then a sightseeing tour of the city. It was actually less expensive than any of the tours we took in Japan and much, much cheaper than purchasing a visa. On our recent cruise all ship's tours sold out completely. The immigration process was simple as Celebrity handled everything in advance and all we had to submit was the copy of our passports which had a barcode sticker on the back. Recommend to anyone reading this that you book your tour before you sail to avoid disappointment.

  5. We danced before and after dinner in the Rendezvous lounge of the Millennium on our recent cruise. Latin was easier than ballroom as we have a couple of routines which are largely "on the spot". We managed a couple of basic Waltz and foxtrot moves though given the size of the floor and the number of other people present a quickstep was out of the question!

  6. We have hardly seen any children on Celebrity. Even our last cruise which spanned the Easter holidays they were conspicuous only by their absence. I have to say that the behaviour of the few we have encountered has been impeccable.

  7. We were surprised how good the internet was on the Millennium a couple of weeks ago. More than adequate for WhatsApp (including sending pictures) and catching up with e mails. The satellite signal does fade occasionally but on the whole it was more than adequate.

  8. No charge at all for the group visa obtained by Celebrity on our behalf. Some Americans bought the visa because of its 10 year validity which makes sense. Australians paid a small fortune for an unnecessary one day visa and are furious. One family allegedly forked out nearly 2000 dollars.

  9. Currently on the Millennium with many disgruntled Australians, French, Germans, Scandinavians who had been told they needed visas and paid a fortune for the privilege of being able to go ashore in Shanghai. Fortunately Celebrity UK gave us the correct info. All passengers on Celebrity tours receive the visa as part of the package. We had a great tour and immigration was simple. We are pleased to have saved a lot of money.

  10. The discussion is about the Classic package, not the standard package. They are different, and very few people get the standard package.

My answer is a direct reply to post 18 which specifically refers to the Standard package.
