  1. Please enlighten me...

Do the Medallions require charging? I was under the impression Medallions function virtually the same as the Walt Disney World MagicBands which contain an RFID chip and do not require charging.

    Thanks...

Please enlighten me.What are the Medallions? I picture a medallion as a round disc, but apparently that is not what they are?

  2. We also paid 199 on the Crown for the Photo package. We received a CD and a thumb drive. It was perfect because we had our friends in most of the pictures so we were able to share to cost.

I pre-ordered my pics this week for on the Grand for $99. Pics plus digital (thumb drive or CD?) I'll be on the Grand May 18

  3. Something on Cruise Critic that really frustrates is posters who start a review then disappear with it unfinished. I am not going to be one of those people, BUT, the final bit is going to be delayed as I was hit last night by a nasty bug... bronchitis or flu, not sure which. Thank you anonymous person on my cruise who shared THAT. It's too much effort to do the typing on a tablet so I'll wait to finish when I feel well enough to sit at a computer again.

My son and I both ended up with a bug when we got off the ship

  4. I read a post yesterday (unfortunately I can't remember which thread or by whom) that said the length of the sofa bed could be a shorter OR longer option. Their child was still small enough to set it up at the shorter length, but it could have been made up to a full bed length. Sorry I can't point you to the photo.

Are the sofa beds set back up to use as a sofa during the day? Or are they pulled out and need to be left that way? If they are set back up as a sofa, are they made back up into a bed in the evening?

  5. That may be a problem as far as fitting in the space. The outlets are usually pretty close to the counter top. I find this one works fine

Are we allowed to use a surge protector? I thought is was just extension cords

  6. Oh no, cruising combined with fabric shops?? I better bring another suitcase!

I just ordered the book mentioned in this thread from Amazon. I love having reference material on my travels.

We haven't booked any excursions, mainly a money thing, but may do so once aboard at the last minute. We're on the 9/13/2015 Pearl sailing out of Seattle.

Rushin' Taylor's in Skagway looks like the best quilt shop to me, but they are closed on Wed. when we would be there. However, I had emailed her and she said she would switch days off if I planned to stop in. I didn't want to have her change just for me, however if there are several others interested, I would contact her again. Other shops are Changing Tides in Juneau and Wale's Tail in Ketchikan. Check out their web sites and let me know if you are interested.

  7. Not only have I always wanted to see Alaska, we chose this one as most budget friendly for a first time trip. (Next time, look out! LOL) I live in WA, so no flights (just a train ride), no hotels either. There were less expensive cruises, of course, but the location and travel savings balanced it out and then some.

We are going on the train ride out of Skagway, but other than that we are going to observe and take notes and most importantly, relax!

I am going with my quilting buddy. I always go on a girls only vacation once a year in September and we decided we had enough fabric (I just this morning put away the fabrics I bought last September) and since we had never been on a cruise.....

Both our husbands are fine with it and probably breathing a sigh of relief that we will spend less on this cruise than on a weeks worth of quilt show and fabric shopping. :D

Don't forget they have quilt shops in Alaska, too. Looking forward to checking them out. They have different fabric patterns then in the lower 48.
