  1. We were on the same cruise. I agree chair hogs were terrible. We sit on deck 14 not even by the pool and if you don’t have chairs by 9am you won’t get them. Food in main dining room was good..waiter was okay but have had better. We had issues with tablemate assignments...people sitting at table who weren’t supposed to then new people being assigned to table forcing one couple to sit at a different table one night...not a big deal but got a bit awkward with maître d making everyone show their sea pass cards then telling one couple that they weren’t allowed back at our table. We asked if they could just add 2 more chairs to accommodate everyone but they wouldn’t do it.

Most of the shows were good to great except the pearl which while the singing was good I had no clue what was going on..we ran into other people felt the same. They had a band on last night that did 60s music..can’t remember their name but thought they were the best show we have ever seen on a cruise! Audience was dancing and singing. The place was rocking...I think it was too much for the old crowd but we loved it. We had dinner at lawn club night we were in San Juan and it was good even for vegetarian Hubble. All in all a great cruise!

  2. We were on silhouette on March 25, 2018 cruise. The buffet has plenty of gluten free options. In ocean view cafe there are lots of gluten free options, made to order gluten free pizza...didn’t try so can’t comment. As well as made to order gluten free pasta. Gluten free bread is also available and at least one gluten free muffin at breakfast. At lunch and I assume dinner...didn’t eat at buffet for dinner there is a small gluten free section. Cafe Al Bacio on deck five usually has a gluten free option as well.

With premium drink package you will have lots of options for drinks. The martini bar is a fun spot and world class bar..I think on deck 5 has interesting cocktails..not as good as molecular from a few years ago, but also fun to watch bartender make a big order of cocktails at once. Only had classic drink package this time so can’t comment on premium wine selection but you should find something you like unless you are really picky with your wines. Silhouette is a beautiful ship so enjoy!

  3. We were on 6242 on silhouette at end of March. Loved the room, it was quiet, close to elevators, great location, bigger balcony. Yes there was some obstruction of the view which we were disappointed with at first glance but it didn't bother us. Would book again in a heartbeat. Just looking around from our balcony we thought 6238 would be a great cabin but it may be a different category. We were on the back side of the hump.

  4. If you are able to get the summit with any of the perks like Drink Package it makes it a great deal and includes specialty coffees if you like those. I don't think the Summit is any dressier than a RCI cruise and I know you mentioned that you aren't buffet people but I see a lot of comments that the buffets on celebrity are better than on RCI. When we were on the Constellation in 2014 DH didn't want to bring a jacket so just took dress pants, dress shirt and tie and they let him in the Dining Room on Formal night. I also think they have jackets that they will loan you if it is an issue. Not that I am encouraging people to dress down on formal night just mentioning our experience. On the Silhouette this year dh did bring a sport jacket and wore it both formal nights. Give Celebrity a try and work your way up to the S class ships...truly beautiful!

  5. we stayed in Bermuda for a week because we loved it so much when we stopped there on a repositioning cruise on the Summit a couple of years ago. We liked the summit (although not as much as the s class ships) and it has a Thalassotherapy pool which was awesome. When we were in Bermuda I believe it was the Veendam that was in port in Hamilton and we were shocked at the shape of the outside of the ship. It looked like it had been through a war. Even some of the windows at the top of the ship were boarded up with wood. Have never seen a cruise ship look so rough. We have never been on HAL so can't comment of it other than to say it sure looked rough on the outside. Bermuda is easy to get around by bus so I don't think the Dockyards is an issue. It is a beautiful, clean, well manicured island.
