  1. Our first cruise, going to the ffjords on the Azura. How far is the walk from a taxi dropping us with our luggage at the Terminal onto the Ship. Is it loads of walking like at airports , is there lots of queuing to check in. I can walk, but not the distances like you have at airports, and have trouble standing in a queue. I can use the assisted boarding but don't want to do that if its just a very short distance.

  2. We are going on our first cruise on Azura in July. Do you have to pay for all your drinking water onboard the ship. I understand I think that juices are free at breakfast but not any other time, and soft drinks are always chargeable. Am I correct that Tea and Coffee are free everywhere except the costa coffee lounge.

  3. please please do not worry about this at all whatsoever.

leave the auto tips on, go on the cruise and enjoy yourself-you will-lots.

On the last night you can just get up from the table and say goodbye to all, and the waiters if you can find them.

Before auto came in, I never used to tip whilst sat at the table and in full view of everyone (always strikes me a bit of lady bountiful!) I would say my goodbyes to the table mates, then find the waiters ,and say goodbye ,whilst handing the envelope over.

Now as I leave auto on I just say goobye.

If others wish to make a show /performance of the envelope, that is up to them. You do not have to follow suit.

Please come back when you have done your cruise and let us know if you are hooked.

Excellent advice exactly what I will do. I will come back and let you know how it goes.

  4. I am a first time cruiser in July on Azura. I think I am now more confused than ever regarding tips. I was going to leave on my auto tips but now it seems people have said they are tipping on top of this to the waiter staff on the last night and you may be the only one on a full table not doing it. Do the staff look for a tip on top of their auto tips almost hand out type of thing. Or can I safely avoid embarrassment and leave on my auto tips and that is it. Do I need to tip any other staff anywhere else, if auto tips only covers some staff. Also it seems some tables in the MDR are not as nice as others and not in such a desirable position as others can someone expand on this for me.

  5. Thanks everyone for the replies. Husband has bought a dinner jacket suit, white shirt, bow tie today must say it does look really smart, really getting into this now. Not having much luck yet with sparkly tops for myself wrong time of year I think to be looking. Can't wait to go now everyone on here really loves it, wish we had made this decision before now. I was always concerned about sea sickness as I do get so sick on a ferry, I will go and get one of those injections if its a problem. Already thinking were next so I hope I like it.

  6. This is our first cruise 7nights to Norwegian Fjords on Azura in July. We have two formal nights. For the ladies I don't really like dresses, are smart tailored trousers with a sparkly top alright if so do I need to have a jacket, as the advice on P & O 's site says trousers suits for ladies.

For the men what percentage are wearing tuxedo's my husband does not want to be the odd one out wearing a suit. Am very happy to do the dress up bit it is part of a cruise really, but wanted to get it right.

  7. Thanks mysticalmother and netchells. I thought it was doors on the deck plan in the personaliser as it does show an opening to go to the stairs and then this other opening just slightly past the opening to the stairs with shaping on the plan to go to the lifts they use the same symbol two or three times along the corridor as well so I thought it must be doors. But from what you both say there is no doors and it was nice and quiet so that's great. Sounds like the cabins are lovely we are looking forward to it. We are going to the fjords on 25/7.

  8. Our very first cruise, we have booked Cabin D414 on the Azura going to the fjords. We wanted a cabin fairly close to lifts as my mobility is not great. We thought we had chosen one which was a few down the corridor from the lifts to avoid noise, but it seems looking at our personaliser online it is closer to the lifts than we thought. There is also a set of double doors immediately opposite the cabin which appear to lead to the lifts. I am now concerned its going to be noisy as I am a light sleeper. Has anyone been in this cabin who can help me with some information.

  9. I hope no-one is confusing the 'cruise' policies with the optional cover offered by some policies, these give extra cover for such things as increased cover for baggage or compensation if you are confined to your cabin.

I was looking for a policy which included increased cover for confinement to cabin, I thought that might be useful to have is there a reason why you are saying you should not do that

  10. I am at this point as well just booked my first cruise and trying to sort out insurance. It seems some companies give more cover than others especially for onboard ship. Things like if you are confined to your cabin £150 day refund and not being able to do excursions you have booked and missed ports of call. General travel insurance cover you for the medical side it seems on most I think but not the extra items not sure how much they might be needed. Booking the insurance is a bad as sorting out p & o pricing structure.

  11. Thanks for the link Wiz201 its that price from word when you click through pages to pick your cabin on Select its £30 different. Would have been worth the saving but its for the 4/7 not 25/7. But thanks for looking it up for me. I had to pay more as I really wanted to be midship by the lifts for my mobility problems and I have been told if you get sea sick its the best place to be.

  12. Thanks for all the replies. Price went up £50 yesterday so made the decision to book. Shall be cross if prices now fall will be just my luck if that happens. Got the superior deluxe on D deck midship on select for £1425 discounted from £1549 was £1499 with £370 each on board spend so brought the cost down to just over £1000 if you take on onboard spend off. My first cruise so its a bit of a learning curve with this. I hope I am going to like it, I get sea sick on a ferry really bad. So its onto the next thing now finding travel insurance any good reliable ones for pre existing conditions?

  13. New to cruising and going to book a 7night Norwegian fjords on the Azura in July. We have to book I think its called Select as we need choose cabin (Limited Mobility so need to be near lifts) and be able to choose a dining time (Cant eat late due to health problems). As new cruisers you don't know if the price they are giving you is good or not. They are saying £1499pp plus £370 on board spend for a deluxe balcony room, you can choose cabin and dining etc. Can anyone tell me if this is good or if its best to wait awhile for offers or do you find that the if the prices reduce you cant select cabins, dining etc.
