I think that is the date they plan to start public sailing.  For instance the NCL Jade repositions to Tampa and the first Tampa sailing really is scheduled for November 22.  We leave on the Jade January 3, 2021 so I did some research to see when it would start from Tampa to se if we would be in the roll-out.  So this seems like the real dates not just crew start up.  But it remains to be seen of course.

I also think  this is their planned re-launch for public, when crew needs to work again. Crews will be brought back in as waves until fully staffed.

  2. TRAVEL ALERTUpdated: March 30, 2020 - Suspended cruises into May 2020

The safety, security and well-being of our guests, crew and communities we visit is our number one priority. We continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 coronavirus situation and the global health environment. With COVID-19 continuing to impact communities and ports around the globe, we have extended our voluntary temporary suspension of voyages. Our suspension that was for voyages embarking March 13 to April 11 has been extended to now include all voyages embarking through May 10, 2020. We plan to recommence operations beginning May 11, 2020.

We are committed to taking all appropriate steps and actions to combat the spread of COVID-19 and are working closely and in partnership with local, state, federal and global agencies. While this may result in additional future changes, please know our teams are working around the clock to do what is right by our guests and travel partners. We continue to monitor this situation closely and will provide additional updates as they are available

  3. Nance,

Thanks so very much for your quick reply! I just finished sending an e-mail to Blexie as you advised. Based upon your experience, my inquiry to Blexie about booking might be too late since we sail on the NCL Sun on Sep 23 and will be in Havana on Sep 25. Thanks again for "coming to our rescue!!"

We are also on this cruise and I booked https://www.vintagecarstours.com/ You really are free to roam about, no one is going to ask questions.. just grab a people to people tour ahead of time and enjoy! Also, if you have not seen we are having a CC Meet and Greet on the 1st sea day (Wednesday) at 11am in the Observation Lounge with the ship crew :)

  4. I am even more excited about the stateroom now! We will be in it for 14 days, just me a two tweens... and if we are lucky enough to have Efran I have made a note to tell him hello from you :) I cannot wait to video the 11-year-olds reaction.

BTW- We did your itinerary in January on the Dawn out of New Orleans, it was amazing!

  5. I look at it this way... At the end of the day is $14 a person going to negatively affect my lifestyle so much that I would take away from the very positive outcome of showing my appreciation to the staff who is working so very hard to make my vacation amazing? No. And if the answer is yes, then start saving your change every day. It would be lovely to live in a world that people are not worried if someone is getting 'too much' gratuity... because, really, there is not enough gratuity to show them just how much their service made our vacation a true serene experience.
