  1. Can I ask mdr menu even if I'm in Blu restaurant?

Not on S class ships. They are not near each other, the galleys are separated, and they are not allowed to move food between these galleys.

On M class ships, you MIGHT be able to get an entree from the MDR. this seems to be handled on a case by case basis.

On my recent Summit (M-class) sailing, my father-in-law was able to order MDR everyday appetizers such as escargot, shrimp cocktail and French onion soup, nearly every night in Blu.

  2. Yes, only place I have seen it listed is on the celebrity phone app and a message post from a few years ago. Said it was a small bar just as you enter Oceanview Cafe. Said that would be were breakfast goers would get there early morning bloody Mary's etc.

Interesting. I haven't seen that name used. I've always called that little counter "the beverage counter at the buffet."

  3. What time do you want them? We are on the Equinox now and today the Oceanview Bar opened at 10am. Al Bacio at 6:30am. Pool Bat at 9am.

Not sure what ship OP is sailing on, but on my recent Summit (M-class) sailing, the outdoor bar adjacent to Oceanview Cafe (called Sunset Bar on M-class ships, though I understand Sunset Bar on S-class is something different) was open at 6:30 AM every day.

  4. Thank you for your updates on Infinity and Summit.

    enhance

Summit entertainment was mostly not as listed during the 6/27 - 7/8 Independence Day cruise. Linda Capewell and Peter Rossetti were as listed, but the lounge band was Dancing Town, the house band was Shine, DJ was Annett, singing duo was Hanna and George, and string duo was Emotions Duo.

Master, Staff Captain, CD, Hotel Director, GR Manager, F&B Manager, and Exec Chef were all as listed. Can't speak to CC Host, Michael's, Suite Mgr. or production shows.

  5. If I use my OBC to book shore excursion can I cancel and will OBC be refunded to my account? What is deadline for cancelling a shore excursion.

Yes, as long as you do it by the cancellation deadline. The one time we had to cancel after the deadline, we were told that they would refund us if they could find someone to take our spots. They did and we got refunded.

  6. The various summary newspapers have disappeared. On our last cruise there was only magizine type rack and it was mostly empty. So don’t know if Sudoku and the crossword puzzles have been eliminated also. There were none there when I looked.

I didn't notice summary newspapers on my recent sailing either. But I did notice a sign at guest relations listing the TV channel numbers of all the available news channels. Perhaps that was posted with the intent of addressing the concerns of those who asked about the newspapers.

The crossword and sudoku sheets were definitely still there though.

  7. Trying X after many RCCL cruises. Are daily Sudoku sheets provided on X as on RCCL? If so are they in Library or elsewhere?

    Thanks

On my 6/27 - 7/8 Summit sailing, daily crossword and sudoku sheets were available on a magazine rack at guest relations. I never saw them run out, but I imagine that if they did, they could print more.

They were not delivered to our cabins with the daily newsletter, but perhaps if you asked, your attendant could arrange that for you.

  8. Thank you, but forgot to ask what kinds of food. We will be 2 people. Thanks again:)

I don't remember the entire menu but there were different varieties of food. For example there was one dish that was small amounts of four or five different Indian foods (tikka masala, vindaloo etc.). Another one that was sliders (i.e. small cheeseburgers). Etc. I thought it was all very good. Even if you don't like certain things, you could find something you liked. Everything was visually presented very creatively too.

  9. Not a show person but I do enjoy the live music performers in the lounges. On my Summit sailing 6/27 - 7/8 they were, in order of favorite to least favorite:

    • Linda Capewell - singer/guitarist - loved her
    • Shine - band - loved them. very talented
    • DJ Annet - Great DJ
    • Dancing Town - band - they were good but they were too similar to Shine, while not as talented.
    • Hanna & George - singing duo + one plays keyboard. Not bad but not memorable either.
    • Emotions Duo - string duo - they weren't bad but I didn't like their use of a backing track. The string duo from my previous Celebrity cruise didn't use one and I enjoyed that more.
    • Peter Rossetti - singer/pianist - Found him somewhat cheesy

  10. Does anyone know, or if on board could check, what price is charged on board for an IPAD Mini?

I do not need one with a lot of memory. Not sure if they even sell those any more though.

    Thanks

As a rule you can expect Apple products to cost the same everywhere, including onboard. The advantage of buying them onboard is no sales tax/duty/VAT.

  11. Thanks! I guess mostly Italian food? Also, did you try Qsine? any thoughts? anyone? Thanks again.

Dined at Qsine one night of our 6/28 - 7/8 sailing on Summit. Loved it. All dishes are meant to be shared. We ordered 6 dishes for 4 people and it was too much. 5 would have been perfect. At some other tapas/shareable places we have ordered 2 per person but at Qsine they are fairly large. Service was great too.

  12. We will be boarding Summit in September for the New England & Canada cruise. All our previous Celebrity cruises have been on Solstuce Class ships. My concern is storage space in Aqua class ( deck 11 too) . Is their overhead storage over the bed? Any storage in the bathroom. The pictures on CC have us concerned.

I was in an Aqua cabin on Deck 11. There is no overhead storage or bathroom storage. We found that the available closet, drawers and cabinet gave us all the storage space we needed. Empty (or mostly empty) suitcases went under the bed.

  13. Probably an unusual question but an issue I have a strange obsession about before every cruise, but did you find it hard to get a table in the Oceanview Cafe or chairs on the sun/pool decks on sea days? In other words, was it exceptionally crowded?

Was on 6/27 - 7/8 Independence Day cruise. Table in Oceanview Cafe during peak lunch hour on 2nd sea day was very hard to find. We had to snag one as soon as someone else left, before staff could even clear it off. That was the only time this occurred. Other times I could always find a table. Not always in a preferred location by a window though.

Loungers on decks 10/11 were always available. Maybe not the ones directly at poolside during peak pool times/weather, but I never saw a time where all loungers everywhere were taken.

  14. Wow! On my 12-N 9/6/19 Reflection cruise, an A1 cabin (A2 loyalty fare) is now $1600 pp greater than a 1A cabin (1B loyalty fare.)

I have always enjoyed Blu; but is it really worth an additional $133.33 pp per night?

Just finished 11 night aqua class cruise on Summit (6/27 - 7/8). Although I loved my cruise, incl. Blu and my cabin on deck 11, I would not pay the premium for Aqua again.

  15. Not sure which ship you're on, or if you have a drink package, but the World Class Bar typically has a pretty decent selection of whisky. If you're husband likes MacAllan 12, the WCB normally has Oban 14, which is a great whisky well worth trying. It was covered by the premium package in March. They also typically have Lagavulin 16, a totally different animal, which was an upcharge over the premium package.

There are some decent whiskies onboard. Many if not most are within the premium package limit...

(To anyone) Any hope for a similar whisky selection on an M-class ship, with no WCB?

  16. We are taking our first Celebrity cruise next month on the Equinox, July 14. We have 4 adults booked in 2 Concierge Class Veranda rooms. I have a few questions that I am hoping recent Equinox cruisers can answer:

1). What time does boarding start? We like to maximize our time onboard and get on the ship as soon as possible.

2). Are dining packages offered onboard or do they have to be booked in advance?

3). We currently have the classic beverage package and are considering upgrading to the Premium Beverage Package. Can the upgrade be purchased later in the week and only paying for the remaining days of the cruise or does it have to be purchased on the first day?

Feel free to add any other tips, hints, or suggestions. Its our first Celebrity cruise and we are looking forward to how Celebrity stands up against Disney and NCL.

    Thanks for your help!

    1. You are close enough to your cruise that the online check-in should be open now. When you do that, your Xpress Pass will tell you your boarding time.

    2. Yes, you can sign up onboard.

    3. Yes, you can upgrade mid-cruise and only pay for the remaining days.
