    Congratulations!

It took Australia far too long to do what the populace had supported for years.  At last!

My hubby and I gave up on the US and were married in Canada, after 23 years together.  Two years later the US supreme court made same sex marriage legal.  Fortunately for us, the state in which we live had laws on the books that already accepted legal marriage from other states and other countries.  We did not have to be re-married.

Yes took them awhile... but glad finally we did it on our 10th year anniversary...

    Happy Sailing everyone...

  3. How is everyone doing? Hope you guys are having a ball cruising... been busy lately as we got married finally (Now legal in Australia) after 10 years since we had the Holy Union...EAA8D13C-4A38-452B-BE94-0A012F35A474.thumb.jpeg.fe4814b2a3ec47e80dcfe9ac5f99a285.jpeg

Seems we are still the only gay couple on the roll call for our July 6 cruise out of CPN (July 6, 2019 - 7 Day Viking Sagas).

Seems a great group of cruisers.  I think our M&G is now up to 46!  So looking forward to this cruise.

Oh, and this morning I finally managed to get a photo of us on CC profile!

    Have a great day!  Joseph

Nice looking photo...enjoy your cruise guys!!!

Thanks, your insight is really useful.  Trying our first “small” ship in June, looking forward to experiencing the difference.

Happy Cruising...small or big you will have a blast....you get to know more each other...more intimate...c”,)

'Nov 2 with Symphony of the Seas'

Have you sailed these super cruise ships before?  My husband and I were on a short cruise of a ship with 3200.  That was the largest we had sailed.  We found that to be too large for us.  2500 is about the largest we are likely to consider.   Most of the HAL ships are still under the 2000 passenger size.  We find them comfortable.

We have friends who cruise 2-3 times a year.  They always choose the 5K+ size ships and never leave the ship.  It is the destination for them.

I am just wondering your perspective.

    Have a great day.

We’re hesitant also at first when we did Harmony of the Seas Transatlantic in 2016. But was surprised that we found more space and quiet time. Ship is big that you don’t feel the crowd except after shows which is also the case in all ship after shows. Shows are happening at same time different locations, so guests are also divided. Now we love the big ships for space, modern, more activities, and during that TA there was a big group of LGBT that during the red party disco we dominated the entire dance floor just standing and talking and getting to know each other.

I thought the LGBT meetup was good for meeting people.  There were more people at the beginning.  I would run into some folks and say hello.  Never did get together for lunch or dinner.  People were friendly when you saw them on the ship.

On our last cruise we attended the first night and then the schedules the following nights are not in favour with us. But we managed to keep in touch with some couples and we hang around for lunch, games, tours and watching the shows. At least we are still contact to date to one the couple we met.

I guess the fact that we as LGBTQI+ people are essentially no big deal on most cruises has made this roll call less important to many people.   I still enjoy knowing that there are other LGBTQ people on a cruise and a friendly smile as we pass each other in a corridor..   That is why I always try to attend at least the first night of an LGBTQ get together while on a cruise.   I don't always make it,  and then it gets even more difficult to fine the other "members of the tribe" when they gather.

Hopefully these groups will continue,  and people will attend to at least be a touchstone for others.

Yes we will keep this thread alive...somewhere somehow to get in touch...just keep posting upcoming cruises and somehow someone might be on the same cruise...so far I know already someone doing the same cruise with us this coming Nov 2 with Symphony of the Seas. We made good friends also on previous lgbt gatherings onboard and to date still in touch, visited them and even stayed with them couple of nights.

Very disappointed with Princess.  Cabin was great.  Cabin Steward was great.  Nice itinerary--all familiar places and a chance for a quick visit with friends in each of the 4 ports.  Most of the rest of the staff with whom we were in contact were under trained or had had no training before being put on the job.  I feel sorry for the crew for being put in such situations.

Quality of food is very important.  EP had none.  Mediocre at best.  Often cold after a long delay in arriving to the tables in MD and in specialty restaurants.  Always overcooked.  Bland.

My hubby ordered eggs Benedict one time.  The dish arrived with crusty hollandaise sauce on it and hard cooked eggs.  When asked of the waiter we were told that they always put it under the salamander to warm it.  Warm it?  Not cook fresh?  No.

I tried for an omelet in the buffet for breakfast.  After 25 minutes it arrived swimming in grease and cold and far overcooked.  Inedible.

The ship design is not good.  The kitchen and dining rooms are on decks 5 and 6 in the middle of the ship.  If you want to get from one side to the other it is necessary to go up at least one deck, walk through, come back down to the deck you want.  Just a terrible design.  Deck  4, 15, 16 have obstructed flow also.

The panoramic view from the lounge is nice.  That bar also has the dance floor, which is miniscule.  There is no service until sometime after 10PM and it is difficult to get to.

Elevators are very slow and separated from each other making it difficult to RUN to an elevator when it does arrive.  Older folks had much difficulty.  One lady said she just used whatever one arrived and she would eventually get to the deck she wanted.

Entertainment==of 7 night, two nights in the main theater were movies.  But one could always go shopping, buy bad art and/or jewelry.  Entertainment in the lounges was mediocre or less.  One duo should look into a career change because the could never carry a song on key.

This was an experiment to see if we wanted to sail with Princess sometimes.  The line offers some itineraries our favorite line does not.  Since Princess is a part of the same corporate family, we expected nearly the same quality.  Not there.  Other cruisers with whom we discussed the issues told us they had found similar situations of other ships of the line over the past two years.  Such a shame.

Will not repeat sail with Princess.  Too bad.  We had such hopes of it being a good alternative for cruising.

Sorry to hear about your princess cruise experience...were you able to meet some member of the community at least to have a better experience onboard?

Hi Everyone. I'll be on my second cruise next week, departing 31st January from Sydney on Celebrity Solstice. I'll be accompanying my elderly Mum who is a very experienced cruiser and sailed extensively with my Dad when he was alive.

I look forward to meeting other LGBT cruisers on Celebrity Solstice next week!

Happy cruising! Hope you are enjoying or will enjoy Sydney weather...pretty sure you will have a ball onboard... cj and mike from Sydney Australia...

Hi, I am hoping to get some peoples thoughts on this.

I am a 56 year old recent widower. Even as a married person my thoughts were always on a same sex relationship. My  wife and I loved cruising and I am now considering a solo cruise.

Does anyone have any thoughts on which line would be the best for me to at least reach out to this community and possibly explore who I am and if this might be the right direction in my current life.

I am not comfortable at this time speaking to people I know, but am really curious if this is a good way to be more at ease.

I am not looking for any kind of relationship but more on getting some opinions.

    Thank you

As others mentioned above nothing conclusive and based on our exeperience some are hit and miss for LGBT gathering. When we did Celebrity in Japan it was great LGBT gatherings we met every night before dinner at the Martini Bar and other set time for other activities. Some of them became our friends for Life that we stay connected and visited each other places/countries. For Royal, we never had a problem s we found some LGBT gatherings just check the compass or the notice board. The only cruise we never found one was Asian cruise out of Singapore. We met gay friendly people and still a great cruise. For Princess Cruises, on the Patter they have an LGBT gatherings. On the first meeting a Cruise Director Staff normally host it, and then depending on the group if we want to continue meeting each other or make a separate time or plans. Happy Cruising....see you across the globe and keep us posted.

We just did an TA on the Symphony. Must admit Royal is treating LGBT much more open on a 'straight cruise' than 6 years ago (my impression). They even organised an LGBT-party this time.

Oh we missed you on the Symphony TA we cancelled last minute due to work requirements. We did a cruise from NZ back to Sydney with Majestic Princess instead.

We will do 50th Royal Birthday with Symphony on Nov 2019.

  15. Hello there!

We are Peter and Ron and we will be staying in Sydney for 5 nights before we board our cruise on the Majestic Princess to Fiji to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Had a couple of questions regarding Sydney, are there any nice Gay restaurants to have a special dinner? And how is the weather in early September? Thanks for your help!

Hi not exactly sure about gay restaurant as I don’t know any specific one. But maybe in paddington area or oxford area where most of the activities happen. Weather as of now is about 20’s in the city during day time and 8-10 at night. Getting warmer now like spring already so by September it will be nice spring weather for sure.
