  1. A few weeks ago I posted that I booked a cruise through the 3for1 sale. I wanted to upgrade our cabin from an obstructed balcony but didn't know about losing the perks. A few of you offered suggestions.

So I called my TA and told him what I wanted to do. He said he would see what he could do. WELL lucky for me he really went above and beyond. He called Princess on a Saturday and didn't have any luck. At home on a Monday, his day off, he called again. The outcome is great. We aren't losing any perks! Plus we have a DD balcony. He didn't do this just for us but for my BIL & SIL. Since then two other couples have booked this cruise. The ship isn't sold out so they were able to get balcony cabins at a much lower price. They are happy that they got a nice deal.

I just wanted you to know that some of you said "It doesn't hurt to ask", in this case I asked and my TA did a great job. So we will be cruising in Nov. on the Royal Princess on a 10 day Caribbean cruise. (God willing)

Thanks again to all of you that read and posted on my previous post.

  2. Hi Carol,

If there are two of you -- each can check in two bags + one carryon + a small personal bag. So two people would pay nothing to check three bags.

Make sure you list two bags under one name and one bag under the other name when checking in.

The "early-bird" option is worth the extra $$ if you want a great selection of seats.

    Enjoy!

    Kel:)

Thanks so much. I will give the information to the others who are traveling with us. Here I thought I'd have to reduce the number of shoes:D Thanks again.

  3. In Aug. we flew Southwest for the first time. Great people, great flights. We had two pieces of luggage and a carryon. No fees:D In Nov. we are flying Southwest again. The question I have is this: Are both passengers allowed two pieces of luggage plus a carryon?? Would this be within the 2 bags fly free?? Or is it two bags for couple plus a carryon??

Does anyone know if we just have 3 bags what the cost would be??

I hope I made sense:) Thanks for your answers.

  4. I'm not one who usually asks questions about the menu. I figure if someone else is cooking and serving it works for me:D I am wondering though if Princess serves escargot. We were on a Royal Caribbean ship in Aug. and they served it every evening. Our granddaughter is a fan after trying them:)

If anyone has been on the Royal Princess recently did you see them offered?

Thanks for your posts. Have a good day.

  5. I'm looking at the Caribbean Princess 10/7/17 and it is one that is the 3 for 1 sale:) The cabins are pretty much available and the price isn't too bad. I'm looking at obstructed ocean views on the Emerald deck. They are now $1739. I don't ever remember booking a year ahead on any cruise. The question I have is this: Do we book or do we wait until say Spring?? Do I chance it and give up the "great sale" hoping another "sale" comes along??

What would you do and I appreciate your answers. Have a good day.

  6. Hi. Would you know about Star Princess Emerald 404. We just booked B2B for Alaska next May. Wondering if another ocean view obstructed would b better.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I've used his site many times to book a cabin. I just checked 404 and if I were you I would change it. Go to the site that someone posted a few posts ahead and you will find it very helpful. 404 looks as if crew members can be seen working.

  7. To all you nice people that responded to my original post. After speaking with my TA and a few emails between us here is the answer:) We would lose the "perks" !! I wouldn't mind losing the dining perk but would the gratuities:( So we are keeping our original cabin. My TA said there might be a possibility of getting an upgrade closer to sailing seeing we are Platinum status (never had one don't think we'll get one but never know). In the meantime, I'm happy with his answer and looking forward to sailing in November. A friend said the Royal Princess is a beautiful ship. We'll soon see.

Thanks again everyone. Have a good day.

We too are on the 11/6/16 Regal with an Obs. View BV balcony (there really isn't any obstruction and we are happy with our room) but noticed that the price went down. I asked my TA about possible shipboard credit from Princess and was told that Princess doesn't do that after final payment, which I understand, but thought I would try! I did not however ask about a change of rooms, so I would ask...for sure. You never know. It doesn't hurt to try. Let us know.

I don't know your situation but Princess gives a Military discount to vets and active military. Seeing TA will let you know.

  9. I think I know the answer but thought I'd see what the experts on CC know:) We are booked in a category BW on the Royal Princess. It sails 11/6 final payment was made. I booked it on a 3 for 1 sale! Now I see by their website that category BV is less money (not much) but the balconies that are there are unobstructed even though they say obstructed. (According to a CC poster that has pictures of obstructed cabins some of the BVs are not) I would like to switch cabins. Since the sale offered perks, specialty dining, free gratuities would it be possible to switch cabins and maybe give up the specialty dining and keep the free gratuities?? Would the cruise gods maybe smile on me?? Or am I being ridiculous?? (kind words please)

    Thanks for your thoughts.

  10. When we first starting cruising in '94 our guys went all out. They did the tux, we did the long dresses or gowns. That was over 20 cruises ago!! Now the guys do the suit and we do the fancy slacks with a fancy top. In the main dining room guys usually wear slacks with a nice shirt. I choose to wear capris with a nice top. It is up to the individual and what your comfortable with. There is a dress code for no shorts, tank tops. I've seen both in the dining room and nothing was said to the wearer!!! Once I saw the wearer being told that shorts weren't allowed. There will always be the person who thinks rules don't apply to them. Heaven help the person who has to sit with the guy in the tank top, that would definitely ruin my appetite!!

Happy cruising and I'm sure you'll look fine in whatever you choose to wear.

  11. Oh boy, this morning I put in all the information for our flights. However, the flight number for our flight was incorrect!!! So they are telling me. I checked Southwest and sure enough no flight 1722. It was a nonstop. I will contact our TA ASAP and see what is going on. At least the information came up this time. Always something.

Okay we have a new flight # non-stop to FLL. This will probably change by Nov. however, printed our boarding passes for the ship. Having a little trouble with the luggage tags they don't seem to be centered correctly. I'll figure it out.

Have a good Labor Day weekend.

  13. Interesting. We never have flight information and we can print boarding passes. For many years we have booked our own flights. Could it be that if you used EZ Air the flights don't get finalized until 45 days before? I would be interested in the answer.

We purchased transfers from Princess. In order for them to meet us at the airport they need our flight information. I emailed my TA and I'm sure he'll take care of it.

  14. I was wondering how long it takes for the flight information to get on your cruise personalizer so that one may print boarding passes. I did this and still on my booking they still want the info saying flight info incomplete. Could it be the website is occupied with getting all the "sale" info out there?? There is no rush for the information we have 65 days till we cruise.

Thanks for your help. Have a good day.

    Carol

  15. I'm thinking a while ago I saw a post about printing those health forms that are handed out when you enter the terminal of the ship. Does anyone know what website they are on?? I think the poster at that time stated it saves "time" and you just have to hand them to the representative of the cruise line.

Thank you and have a nice day.

    Carol

  16. Yes, you will still have $274 left to use but that will still need to be used by April. Think of it as a gift card with an expiration date. You can use it as many times as you want as long as there is still money available on it, but it must be used by the expiration date.

Thanks John, the Nov. cruise will take care of some of the $$ and I do have friends in other states!! Maybe give them a surprise visit or there is always another cruise!! Thanks for you quick response.

    Have a good day.

  17. The cruise for Aug. 13th is canceled. The reason being both my brother in law and then DH was having issues on his new dose of medication. DH is much better but didn't feel he wanted to travel at this time. We spent time with my brother in law the other day. He still has his sense of humor. He is very frail and now on a pain patch. He has lost a lot of weight. It is very sad!

I received insurance papers yesterday and will fill them out. Doctor is on vacation until the 16th but TA feels that DH med issue is a reason to file the paperwork.

    Thanks for your posts.

  18. Thanks, the flights are canceled and now we have $$$ to use on another flight. Question--flights totaled $944 for both. Now deciding on cruise to FLL in Nov. those flights total (as of today) $670 for both of us. Since there will be $$ left will they keep them for us for some other time?? I know I sound like I'm confused--and I am!!

    Thanks,

    Carol

  19. Thanks everyone for your posts and concern. DH is doing fine, adjusted to lower dose of med. We decided to cancel the cruise because we have been on a whirlwind since April. We traveled with granddaughter for dance competition and then to Hershey to help daughter with a conference!! We just came back from NJ for a week at the beach!! This was on Sunday!! DH gets all out of "sink" and did I mention we have a cruise planned for Nov?? We have been on the go so I think these "more mature" (I never say OLD) people need to take a break right now!! We are blessed to be able to travel. I'll give DH a few months and then we'll go again (God willing).

Grace, nephew went to Clarion U. and I worked at Pitt!!

    Thanks again,

    Carol
