Review: The BOATYARD (Beach) ~OnOurOwn~

My boyfriend and I went to the Boatyard when we were in Barbados last year, and we also really enjoyed it. The beach was beautiful and we also saw crew members from the ship there. We ate at a restaurant that is right next to the beach (but not part of the beach) called Da Kitchen, and it was absolutely delicious! I had a fish steak, potato salad, and a coke and my boyfriend had some chicken, green beans, and potato salad. I can't remember exactly how much it cost but I'm thinking around $10 for both. It was really good food and the restaurant was really clean. The potato salad was the best potato salad I've ever eaten ( I normally don't even like potato salad).

Beach info

I would recommend booking a beach/snorkel excursion with Belize Rays (www.belizerays.com). We used them last week and it was an amazing time!

Coral Sands Beach Resort

We were at Coral Sands Beach Resort last week with a tour that we had with Belize Rays. The beach is beautiful! It's more of a coral beach than sand, but I walked barefoot on it and didn't find it to be sharp at all. You can see pictures of the beach at www.belizerays.com. We had a wonderful time at the beach and snorkeling with Belize Rays. I would highly recommend it. The beach has kayacks, mats to float on in the ocean, a pay bar, hammocks, lounge chairs, and food.

They will either bring you back to your ship or drop you off at the village, whichever you want.
6. We rented our car from a company called Executive. We booked the car the day before from their office in Cozumel. We spent about an hour and a half at the ruins, but it just depends on how much time you have off of the ship. We opted not to drive anywhere else, just to assure that we didn't get lost and had plenty of time to get back to the ship. I don't really have any other advice because it was a pretty easy trip. We did get lost for a minute on the way there because there was some construction that we didn't know about and we should have turned left at a stop light next to the construction and we went straight instead. We realized it after a few miles because the signs were wrong and we turned around and got headed in the right direction in no time. They will give you a map and tell you directions if you ask at the car rental office.
7. We were in Chichen Itza last week. We opted to rent a car at the port and drive to Chichen Itza ourselves. It was SO MUCH cheaper this way. We were with Carnival Glory and the Chichen Itza excusion booked through them was $77 per person. It costed us $77 to rent the car, and then gas money. It took us about an hour and 40 minutes to get to Chichen Itza. It was really easy to drive there. You only take 2 different roads to get there. The ruins were amazing. I would definetly recommend renting a car to get there. You save a lot of money and you get to do everything on your own terms.

best beach in belize?

We were just at Coral Sands beach last week, and it was really beautiful. We booked a tour independtly with Belize Rays (www.belizerays.com) and I would definetly recommend it. They have hammocks, kayacks, a pay bar, and little mats you can float on in the ocean. The crew of the Angle Ray was very friendly. With this tour you can either spend the whole time at the beach or you can also go snorkelling. I highly recommend this excursion!

It was a sort of follow the leader-typer snorkel, however there is a fairly large area that you have to snorkel in so you also have an opportunity to go a little bit on your own. I don't really know much about fish, so I don't know the different types that we saw. We saw a large school of some blue fish as well as other colorful fish. I do know that some snorkellers in my group spotted some baracudas. The beach we went to was Coral Sands.

Belize Rays-The Angel Ray-snorkelling

We were just in Belize last week with Carnival Glory. We used Belize Rays while we were there for a snorkeling excursion. It was quite a bit cheaper to do it on our own as opposed to booking through the ship. I would definetly recommend using Belize Rays. We had an amazing time with them. The crew was very friendly and very good at what they do. The whole excursion took about 3 1/2 hours. There's a short ride out in the catamaran (probably about 40 mins. I would say), where you arrive at a private beach. Anyone who does not wish to snorkel gets off the boat and stays on the beach, where they have kayacks that you can use, hammocks to lie in, mats to float on in the ocean, and a pay bar, coconuts, and food for you. Everyone who wishes to snorkel stays on the boat and you take an approxiametly 5 minute ride to your snorkelling destination. It is some of the best snorkelling I have ever seen. The crew stays with you the entire time, making sure everyone is safe and pointing out things for you to see. You snorkel for probably 30-40 minutes and then they take you to the beach for the remainder of your time. The price is $45 per person. The boat, the Angel Ray, is very clean. They have a pay bar on it, restroom facilites, and fresh water showers. The crew is extremely friendly and very informed. The private beach we went to was just paradise on earth. I highly, highly recommend this excursion. You can visit their website, www.belizerays.com to see pictures, tours, and to find out how to locate them.:)
