Koningsdam sailing on 7/10/16 will be our first HAL sailing. We've been on many Carnival sailings and received the shareholder's OBC. Was a relatively quick process and it showed on our reservatoon.
I've FAXed our information twice to HAL at 206-281-0627 but don't see anything on my reservation. My travel agent hasn't seen anything either. Anyone have experience with this process on HAL?

Thanks for the reply. We'll keep an eye on it.

We're booked on this sailing but not finding much for excursions. I figured since it is about 6 months out there would be many to choose from. Even looked at Shore Trips and not finding any. Anyone else sailing on this ship with similar experience? Is this usual for Holland?

Thanks
I'm wondering if they have Ginger beer fleetwide or just in ships with the Alchemy bar.
Fleetwide. They had it on my NYE Paradise cruise. I had several Woodford and ginger beer. Delicious!! Not sure if it is covered by bottomless bubbles.

They should be included at The Grill by the pool with the burgers and hot dogs. Hours on Paradise were Noon to six.

Thanks for the review! We'll be on the Paradise in just a couple of days! You mentioned they had the Sea Day brunch on the first sea day.....did they also offer it on the 2nd sea day? I love the brunch and was really hoping to get it 2 days, haha!
I was on the NYE Paradise cruise and they had it both sea days. They also had the Suess breakfast on the final sea day.

We prepaid for our very recent Paradise cruise. It was no issue getting the sticker at the bar right as we boarded. Compared to the old system it was much faster since in either case they need to explain all rules (no sharing, 15 drink max, no buying drinks for others, etc).

Just got back today. Overall a B+. If you have questions let me know.
Ship was in very good condition since last sailing on her almost two years ago. We were travelling by ourselves. Married couple no children. OV Cabin M109. Cruise Director is Steve Cassel
Had late seating in Destiny and had fantastic table mates. Food overall was a B. Appetizers better than entrees. Some strange pairings such as potatoes served with Veal Parm.[emoji6] The best bet was to get the pasta entree as an appetizer. Meatloaf was good. Some fish was decent. Didn't try any steak.
Sea day brunch had the best meal. Steak and eggs were great as I remembered. The pork steak was flavorful and tender. Wish they had served it for dinner since it was so much better than the dried out "tenderloin" they had.
Went to the Dr Seuss breakfast and food was good. Have many of the same offerings as sea day brunch - only "Suessified". Such as green eggs and ham (yummy). Waffles (dry and tasteless). Character meet and greet also. It was $5/person.
Didn't attend the shows but several table mates said Rock City was wonderful.
Entertainment staff had interesting trivia on the sea days. We didn't get off the ship in Cozumel and had the pool and slide to ourselves for 4 hours. Love those kind of sea days.
NYE deck party was really fun. Good band. My wife and I did lots of dancing.
Bar service was very good to excellent. Standout was Nine at the lobby bar - although she is leaving Carnival for good in four weeks. We had the Cheers package and it was well worth it for us.
We will definitely plan on a NYE cruise in the future. Have done two in a row now and they are alot of fun.

Where do you live? I have seen canned Perrier and canned Canada Dry seltzer water at Publix which is a local chain supermarket in the South.

We will be onboard tomorrow also. At our hotel pool now for last minute preparation. ;-)

Favorite bar? Best restaurant? We are seeing some not so great reviews on Le Bistro. Confirm?

Fascinating reporting. Thank you!
Does anyone know whether the Jones Act will come into play? Was St Thomas the first stop?

Depends on the port also. We were on a Princess cruise to Alaska in July 2015. In Juneau we were not allowed to bring a cup of coffee we had bought at the International Cafe. We were told it was a port restriction due to the trash concerns for wildlife.

I sailed on Grand Southbound from Whittier 7/11/15. Muster was 45 minutes before sail away. We had to wear life jackets. Ours was at Crown Grille.

I sailed on Grand Princess on 7/11/15. The golf simulator was listed in the Patter as an activity. We went by where it was (Deck 15 I think) on embarkation day and there was a sign pointing to stairs. Didn't go to actually see it. Later in the cruise when I went by that same area there was "caution" tape across the stairway. So maybe it is being phased out but if so the Patter hasn't caught up with it.

Packing light will be key and also how you plan to store everything in the cabin. Each person will need there own drawers and/or shelves which will make getting ready that much easier. No one scrambling wondering where there things are. The locker room showers can work as an option but really depends how close you are to that area. If it is a deck or two it will be worth it.

All Lattituds meets get Priority Check-in which is just a dedicated line. You may find that Platinum has it's own line. The special lines aren't always shorter so use your best judgment when you get there. I remember a sailing on RCCL where a woman jumped ahead of us because she aaid she was "Emerald". We were then guided to the regular line by the embarkation staff and got checked in first. Boy was she "green" with envy. And steaming mad also.

My wife brought her own conditioner. We also had our own body wash but that is something we generally always do since the smell of the ship's body wash is always an unknown and when I have used it, dries out my skin after a fee days.

We had a balcony cabin on the July 11th sailing. C307. No musty smells. Didn't see any buckets around the ship. Only one ceiling leak in one of the lounges. Last sea day there was some strange "seepage" coming up through the decking on the pool deck near the pizza place.

I searched the Web and the Amex perks do have retrictions. The TA also needs to go to a special website to register the card. From what I read it certainly seems like you need to make the full payment all with the qualifying Amex card to get the OBC and other perks.

Not sure why since I know of no government regulations against it.
It might be a Princess rule since a certain percentage of people will manage to spill their drink while leaving the ship and Princess finds this a way to prevent such spillage.
We were told by security that it wasn't a Princess rule but something from the local authorities. We thought it may have been similar to when we were in Glacier Bay and they stopped using paper cups, napkins and straws.

Did you go to the casino? If so, and you played the slots, did they have Jackpot Party or Village People slot machines? Our fav's...... :D
I saw Jackpot Party. Don't recall Village People machine. Many of the machines were identical with only a slight difference in the theme.

Thanks for the feedback. I was on the same sailing and share most of your opinions although I liked the bands and activities in the Piazza. As far as food from the ship, I also didn't see anything listed in the Patter. When we arrived in Juneau my wife and I did try to leave the ship with lattes we get at Intenational Cafe and we were told by security that we couldn't bring them ashore. So we waited by e gangway and finished them. ;)

Thanks for the feedback. The documentation for getting the credit doesn't list the time frame only that it be done at least two weeks before sailing. I'll try contacting HAL and see if they can confirm when I need to send it in. Thanks everyone!!
