Not surprised at all. Ha - we (platinum) never got any notices from PRINCESS about this dining reservation change and neither did our TA. Our cruises are in February and March 2025. What does that tell ya?

We've heard June 17th, but we haven't heard the year...😉

Currently, only platinum and elite status guests can book dining reservations immediately after making a booking, if more than 75 days prior to sailing, this is on the website:
.
Platinum and Elite guests get early access
Platinum and Elite Captain’s Circle members, guess what? You can make reservations right away (before final payment). You get your pick of venues and times in appreciation for your loyalty!
Will everyone now have immediate access?
June 17th tomorrow, is the 75 days out still in effect for everyone who's not elite?
"Starting June 17, booked guests will be able to use the app ahead of their voyage to opt for traditional seating in a dedicated dining room with the same waiter, same table and same time each night, or flexible dining, allowing them to enjoy dinner at any available time and table size of their choosing in either the Reservable or Open Seating dining rooms."
Well, what is missing here is a YEAR... It is now June 17 2024 in the USA and there is no ability to book any MDR dining on the APP.

We do not care for a shared table due to a horrible incident in 2017. Hubby and I were placed at a table for 8, MDR, early seating. Absolutely not what we had requested thru our TA. Embarkation evening dinner was a nightmare as one woman at the table just berated all the other women at the table on what they were wearing. It was truly ugly. Her husband tried to rein her in, but that was even uglier. We talked to the dining room manager about what took place and asked to be reseated anywhere else and he claimed he was overwhelmed with seating change requests and could not help us. We never went back to our designated table and time in the MDR during that 14 day cruise and basically stayed away from PRINCESS for 7 years.

Looking for your feedback/recommendations for a scenic flight over the Great Barrier Reef when we are docked in Cairns April 2025. TIA.

Appreciate all the in put.
CLARIFICATION
I am using the PRINCESS.com excursion website for our booking.
I did try to select both myself and hubby for the WAIT LISTED excursion, but there was not any further action to take after selecting our names.
I even tried by selecting one of us, not both, for the WAIT LISTED excursion, but again, there as not any further action to take after selecting our names.
Only recommendation from TA, not PRINCESS personnel, is to check back on that excursion frequently to see if anything has changed. I am following that recommendation.

Our TA has called PRINCESS twice, speaking with 4 different PRINCESS agents attempting to get us waited listed on a particular excursion. Even a PRINCESS supervisor couldn't figure it out, but the excursion website shows WAIT LIST OPEN and has now for 2 weeks. So we have not been wait listed.
Anyone had any success in getting added to an excursion wait list? Please...tell your secret! TIA

May I clarify...in the past, photos were taken of each passenger at the embarkation. Somehow it synced with your plastic passenger card, so when you left/returned to the ship and scanned your plastic passenger card, ship security saw your pic (head shot) on their monitors. I believe "d9704011" response addressed. Thanks!

After a 7 years hiatus, we just booked 2 cruises with Princess, so we are new to the Medallion and APP concept. So does this mean that facial recognition has been replaced by the Medallion? Or by the Princess APP? Or both? I understand the Medallion is the cabin "key" now along with other features, but haven't read anything about ship access/facial recognition.
TIA

Here's the link - I'm not surprised that the search didn't find it as the title is not exactly as quoted
Ok - thanks. That thread is a rant; not an inquiry as mine is.
-
A thread the same as this has just been done to death. No need for another.
Refer thread "I'm more that P.....at Princess"
Ok - thanks! Got a link to the thread as it is not appearing on a search. I would like to learn why there has been no communication from Princess.

Sunday (10/8) we sail on Star Princess. We booked this cruise in January 2017. We have received NO pre-sail emails from Princess as we did last Fall prior to our cruise then. No Captain email, no CD email, no last chance on excursions or spa bookings emaisl, no final info before you go email...nothing. Both of our emails are registered with Princess. The final payment was made on time, so we know Princess has record of our booking and we got the progressive boarding warning email yesterday via our TA. I asked the TA if she had any of these pre-sail emails and she had nothing.
Perhaps less communication directly with booked passengers is a new direction Princess is taking this year... Anyone else not hearing a peep from Princess? :o

We've booked our own excursions in Alaskan ports. Whale-watching boat tour in Juneau was one. These local tour companies realize they have to get cruise ship passengers back to the ship in a timely manner.
Do your research - check tripadvisor for starters. Also this guide is excellent http://www.tomsportguides.com/

We sailed on HAL at the end of 2013 and they had prepaid excursions then...
Not happy to hear Princess is moving to the same strategy. Just more incentive to research non-ship booked excursions.

We did it once (Coral 2009) and really enjoyed it - very interesting, especially the time on the bridge and chatting with the Captain. The photograph was nice and so was the robe. They could of kept the chef jacket, IMO. Too bad they don't offer the tour without the robe and chef jacket as we would definitely jump on that opportunity.

Well, in case anyone is counting votes, I VOTE for Princess to sail from Galveston! We did a Celebrity cruise out of there years ago and it was a great port.

I always seek the WC blogs -I ask on the CC WC board. Have never seen a Captains blog blog listed there or on the HAL board. Where do you access the HAL Captain's blog?
Excellent blog!
-
Is there a blog by the Captain of the Princess World Cruise? I've followed the HAL Captain's World Cruise Blog for three years and was hoping there was the same for Princess.
Thanks!
-
I would recommend doing it once. We really enjoyed seeing it all and hearing so many details that makes a ship function, especially the time on the bridge and then refreshments with the Captain in his conference room.
Even though the robe is very nice, it is very bulky and heavy. We had no desire for the chef jacket. If they could give reduce the tour price by permitting a person to choose from one or the other or neither, I believe that would be a very good option.

Obviously, SHARE didn't make the cut...
-
I didn't see anything in the article about renovating to add SHARE. Wonder what happened to this concept? Not popular with cruisers?
-
Hubby and I LOVE Princess@sea. We've used it on two different cruises and were very happy with all the features, especially the view of on-board charges, which is updated in minutes after an on-board purchase is made.
-
I would highly recommend it. You visit numerous "behind the scenes" areas of the ship. When we took the tour, we were provided a chef's jacket and a terry robe, which we really didn't want either one.

Varies. Anytime from 1115a to noon.

My TA and I are both still waiting for the first notification about this change. NEVER GOT ANYTHING. What does that tell ya? PRINCESS couldn't even get that tasks accomplished.
