  1. OP, I absolutly understand. Booked my Cruise with NCL in September for next June on the german Website. As i looked up T&C THEN, i found the same conditions US Cruisers stated here (in English language). Out of curiosity i looked T&C up today again and found them in german language and now it is 10% up to 31 days before the Cruise.

And yes, i printed them when i booked ;).

  2. Thank you! Honestly, you guys are more excited than friends and family when I told them, that's awesome. I will definitely come back and let you know how it went. And cruising out of New York is something special, I'm sure! Don't tell anyone, but I hope we are delayed and have to sail out a bit later when the skies are dark and the whole city is lit up! ;) I think it's going to be spectacular, and honestly, I never even thought about the scenery much until people started mentioning it. It'll be cold, so not sure how fun that'll be on deck.

I'm sure you'll get to sail out of NY one day soon. I would have gone further south for my sailing if I could have, but flights to Florida were a no go for me. I haven't been to NY since I was a kid, so I'm looking forward to some touristy stuff. Was gonna have a drink at the Waldorf Astoria but it's closed!!! OMG! Oh well... As for a reunion, that sounds great. Where are you going for the reunion?

Thanks for the tip with the TV, I may just have to try that. ;)

Waldorf Astoria closed - Dont they know about your big plans? 😉

We are doing the same Cruise as we did this Year, Epic in June tru the Med 😊. Right now a British, a Scottish, one Belgium, one from Florida and a German (that would be me😉). One from Australia is still in planning Status.

In case you are interested in a Review of a fellow solo Cruiser on the Epic, look for Bra_BE2014, you can also find it in my history of posts.

You will find the right Dress for sure, its the one which makes YOU feel beautiful about yourself.

Please remember: even if life has been harsh and nasty, it brought you to this exact moment where an amazing Cruise is coming up in just a couple of weeks 🍸

  3. Everything is booked! I've done it... flight, hotel, cruise! The only thing I need to sort is how to get to the cruise terminal from my hotel and how to get to the airport from the cruise terminal. Thank you

    Congratulations!!!

Please let us know if you had as much fun as we predicted 😎

Cruising out of New York is something i really wanna do one Day... sigh

And dont be surprised if you meet people on your Cruise and arrange a Reunion one 10 month in advance (now only 7 month and 1 day 😊)

    Happy Sailing 🍸

PS: great advice i got a few years ago: before going to bed, put on tv to bridge Channel. Waking up in the morning is like looking out your window 😊 Dont forget to set to mute 😉

The Studio on Epic was my first inside and i loved it with the morning bridge view.

  4. Zumba voyeurs? :)

Ok. I understand. Did they make sexual remarks and make you uncomfortable doing Zumba in the open? It was creepy?

No, not creepy at all just not my cup of tea.

As i am one of those who still dance the wrong way even after years of Zumba, i prefer that without the knowledge of my 4000 best friends 😂

  5. Sorry, I don’t understand what you mean. Didn’t need what? :confused

On Princess, during a recent cruise, Zumba was held inside in one of the lounges.

On the Epic they had Zumba outside at the Pool directly beside the Bar. People were sitting there sipping Drinks and enjoy the "entertainment" of the Zumba lesson as it was held directly in front of them

  6. I can absolutly relate, was so nervous and unsure before my first solo Cruise. Now: can't think of anything better 😊

NCL does a great job with the Solo Cruisers, you will feel welcome and wanted!

Just think about yourself at Midnight with a glass of Champagne (or your favourite Beverage) looking up in the Sky and every Star is a good Wish just for you for the New Year

    Happy Sailing 🍸

  7. Thank you all - I did wonder about the tax thing. The itinerary is fab so I’ll definitely have a good time [emoji1] Looking forward to the studio cabin - I paid single supplement on my last cruise and although there were solo cabins and meet ups it was nothing like what I’ve been told NCL do.

I never expected to fall in love with the Studio concept but i did big time 😍 so cozy and cute and the ambilights...

Studio Lounge is great, too. Free Coffee, Latte, Cappuccino 24/7 plus free pastries in the morning, cookies, fruits and Joghurt all day.

Fellow Cruiser Bra_Be2014 wrote a wonderful review, maybe you want to check it out.

  8. IMO you should expect to have a great time 😊

My first time with NCL was in June, solo in a Studio. So good that a bunch of us are going on a reunion Cruise with the Epic next year.

Fellow cruisers were a mix of mostly Americans and Europeans from 1 year to 80+.

Loved Priscila, Queen of the Desert, cant wait to see it again.

I did not eat in specialty Restaurants the MDR was very good imo, prefered Taste over Manhattan.

We were not charged with "extra" tax for the Drinks in Spain.

    Happy Sailing

  9. I tried asking these questions in the Spain section. Couldn't get an answer. Can someone share their experience please?:)

Do you need to pay additional fees for your luggage beside the flat rate from cruise port to BCN airport? How much per piece? Are carry-ons or backpacks also counted? My friend went on a Med cruise with his family last year. He grabbed a taxi from his hotel to the cruise port. The taxi driver kept pressing the "additional charge" button on his meter and even over-counted the number of luggage. When my friend pointed that out, the driver said that's the way it works. After the hotel person came out to check on my friend, the driver immediately reversed most of the charges on the meter. When they arrived at the port, my friend paid his fare with a bigger bill, the driver claimed to have no change. After a few minutes, my friend didn't want to bother and just left a big tip to the driver.

I'm sure this might be an isolated incident. Just want to know other people's experience and what to watch out for. Thanks.

We were 3 adults from port to airport this June, each with a suitcase plus carry on plus handbags - no additional charges. Each taxi has a sign on the back windows which states the fixed price, in Barcelona only to/from port to airport for €39 right now or to/from airport to Place de Catalunya for €29.

    Hope that helps

  10. Another vote for first class from the US to Europe. You will arrive more relaxed and can enjoy your day instead of being too tired.

Have you thought about of changing one first class flight plus Coach to a Business Class round trip?

  11. My last promotion included

    50 off for each excursion.

Been on the Epic weeks ago and it worked like that: you can book the excursions online or per phone just normal before your cruise. Each excursion that you completed, you got the $50 off afterwards. Its visible the next day on your TV in the Account section.

    Happy Sailing

  12. We did the meet and mingle, greet thing today, Bluesmania did a sterling job of bringing us reprobates together and as always it was great to see the crew fraternising with the enemy. The F&B guy, manny, was so right when he said raise any issues now, not at the end of the trip when it's too late to fix it. The serial complainers would probably have complained that they were being forced to complain when NCL said they should, not at a leisurely complaining time of their choosing, it is freestyle after all

If there will ever be a Competition for best post, you will win with this one hands down!!! [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23]

  13. Sorry. But no. I was on the Epic in March and unless space aliens took over the ship...

    I had a great time.

I was on the Epic in June (1st time NCL), no space aliens then ;)

    Had a great time, too

  14. I believe that everyone travels in a way that they feel is the right way for themselves. I've always been fortunate to travel well and never really thought much about how others travel. But this was all put into perspective on my first trip to Africa back in the early 90's. One of the ladies on the trip started quietly crying when we approached our first pride of lions. Concerned about her, I asked if she was okay and she said that she and her husband had scrimped and saved their whole life (she was in her late 50's), so that she could go to Africa. They didn't have enough saved for both of them to go, so he sacrificed going, so the love of his life could have her dream come true. Never judge anyone, because you don't know their story, because those pennies could have taken a life time to save.

What a beautiful and sad Story at the same time and something to keep in mind...

    Thanks for sharing!

  15. I travel and cruise solo , too. As others said before to pre book a car is my favourite option also. I make sure to keep my phone with me and have the ships phone number and the emergency number programmed in it. I also leave a copy of the confirmation of the hired Company at guest service in the morning with my cell phone number on it. That makes me feel safe ;)

    Happy Cruising
